      what happened to ROS?

He was looking at himself in the mirror and completely forgot to make Q3.

the team just think that his team is good enough to make it through Q3 but JB out of nowhere pulling string together and knock ROS out.

      3. Track getting better towards the end of Q2 caught him and Mercedes out. Rosberg was one who set his best time fairly early.

Epic lap from Ham! Now, finish the job tomorrow and make a charge for the WDC. Good to see my two favs on the front row. :)

I’ll say this: Lotus for the win.

      1. agree

    4. Massive risk for Ferrari. It could either lead to a massive success or a fail. The fact that they had pace for P4 makes this decision even stranger.

      1. “we were unlucky to have made the wrong call using primes for the qualifying. . . “

        1. @mixwell

a little too early to say that the decision will backfire… we shall see tomorrow…

        2. @mixwell having crystal ball ye?

      2. Yeah, even im surprised….

      3. If Massa starts like he did last week he could be 3rd or 2nd by turn 1 and 1st on laps 5, 6 or 7 depending on how fast the softs go off.

    5. Strange to see both ferraris opting to set the Q3 lap time on mediums.. Hope it turns out to be a great decision….

    6. What on earth were Ferrari upto?
As far as I remember Ferrari had topped q2 and q3.
And then going onto mediums in q3.
      BIZZAREEEEE!!!

      1. @svarun Q2 record was not real picture because of moving cloud and wind direction. They had no chance for the pole even though I doubt their choice would work.

        1. I was also not expecting a pole for sure from Ferrari but they could be on the second row.

        2. @eggry @svarun I feel that since all those ahead of both Ferraris would start on used softs for their race (including formation laps), they would end up doing ‘more’ laps on softs compared to those starting on softs. Guess it would work for them. :)

          1. Well i disagree. Ferrari doesn’t have much wear like RBR or Merc. So getting rid of softs as quickly as they can and stretching the Medium tires stint wasn’t a big issue for them. I hope it will pay off but i don’t think it will. They may get Podium but Ferrari may lost the chance of Victory

      2. Did they have any new options left for Q3 ?

    7. It was enjoyable qualifying. Good to see Hamilton is back but I doubt Ferrari’s strategy would work. Work or not, I don’t think one of Ferraris would win. Podium would be maximum.

    8. Danny Ricciardo impressive once again. Interested to see how the strategy pans out with the Ferraris on primes. And of course Rosberg out of position. Should be a good race!

      1. @tommy-c The consolation for Rosberg is that he can start with fresh tyre of his choice, be it soft or medium.

        1. Which is less of a good thing @seahorse,@tommy-c, with all those cars ahead that are starting on mediums, he’d have to clear them on pace anyway – maybe start on the options, try to get great start, get ahead of that group, he’d still have fresher options than those ahead (but Ferrari tend to have strong starts). Clear why he things he’s stuck a bit.

        2. @seahorse, unfortunately for him starting on the prime will be no advantage because Ferrari are on the same strategy.

    9. Lets just hope Mark can actually start from 3rd rather than the lower reaches of the midfield as usual.

      1. @jleigh You know what? Grosjean is behind him :D

        1. @eggry :D Mark hopes he doesn’t see a Japan 2012

          1. @harsha or last week although that was not Grosjean’s fault :D

            1. Or how about the last time Grosjean lined up behind Webber like this? Spa 2012!

            2. Scratch that… that was before Webber’s grid penalty, so can hardly implicate his starting form in all that!

      2. @jleigh If Mark can actually get to the heels of P1 at the end of race after falling through the field at start (courtesy of his now regular poor starts :P), what he would do if he actually starts from P4? :D

        1. Hoping the front runners have tyre/gearbox issues? :p

    10. Ricciardo really wants that promotion, doesn’t he?

Sucks for Rosberg, what if Hamilton would win the title? Rosberg would probably feel terribly mistreated by his team…

      1. @roald RIC’s p6 was partly due to both Ferraris setting lap time on primes rather than softs.

And if Rosberg feels mistreated, perhaps he can take a seat in Red Bull next year or in Lotus if RBR seat is taken by Kimi?

        1. Still over half a second quicker than the other STR.

          1. @hohum Yes credit must be given to Ricciardo for that though :)

      2. Or he could have just done a faster lap in the early part of Q2 like Lewis did….

        1. well said Jake.

      3. Yup Ricciardo is sure doing well. Too bad for him though as I think Kimi has got the RB seat locked up already.

        1. Maybe Dan could slot into Lotus next year then and teach Grosjean how to drive..

      Vettel for the win

      1. I think he will be leading after the first corner and control the race from there, I’m expecting him and HAM to lap everyone lower the P8

    12. Forza Ferrari! ;)

    13. I had Hamilton for pole but changed to vettel after FP3 this morning. darn it… :(

      1. Ditto that.

Though, I do enjoy putting Vettel on Pole in the Championships. That way, either I’m happy because two of my favourite drivers are on pole (HAM and ROS), or I’m happy because I got the prediction correct :P

      2. I had Rosberg, in 1:29.407, so wrong Mercedes and 9 thousants off.

      3. same here. Didn’t expect Vettel to take out all of the fuel in FP3, which is what he must have done. He deliberately messed up our predictions! ;-)

          Don’t you forget it!
          HAHA

    15. Good strategy by ferrari. But if temperatures remain as hot as they are today, graining will be minimum.

      1. @sandy
They still have to use the softs anyway.
So they will have to rely on the front runners getting out in traffic after their first stop in order to make up the loss of track position. And then they just have to pray to god that they aren’t going to get eaten by a truckload of cars on mediums towards the end when they are fighting a set of graining soft tyres.

        1. The front runners will absolutely get caught in traffic after their first pit stop. There’s no way they can make the gap to cover a pit stop before the softs die. The question is how quickly they will manage to clear that traffic (if they do). And there shouldn’t be any problem for the Ferraris with the softs at the end. By then they will know exactly how long they last.

    16. Another great lap from Hamilton to follow the impressive one 7 days ago. Seems distant from his aforementioned braking issues and putting the Mercedes on pole around a track like Nurburgring, which has a higher percentage spent braking than Silverstone, vindicates just that. Coming into the race, I don’t think tyre wear will be the concern for Mercedes, the concern will be their actual pace relative to the Red Bull.

Without a doubt the best qualifying session for Lotus, namely Grosjean, who’s been driving well this weekend so far it must be said. They definitely look in better shape compared to Canada and Silverstone and could pick up a fair amount of points should one keep their nose clean and not fall back at the start.

Qualifying as a whole was pretty close I think, one of the closest this season, especially in Q1 and Q2 and that’s virtue to the kevlar tyres and wayward track conditions playing their parts.

      1. What’s the deal with the kevlar tyres? How would they equalise the performance of the cars?
Actually, I was shocked by the similarities among the lap times throughout qualifying. I mean, Mercedes certainly blundered with Rosberg, but did you notice that he missed Q3 with a time that was just half a second slower than P1 (Massa)? That’s crazy. I don’t think it has ever happened before.

Great lap from Hamilton, looking forward to an epic battle between him and Seb tomorrow.

    18. Webber drops 5 places at the start, Grosjean crashes, Massa yields – P5 for Alonso. Considering his podium positions from the back of the top 10, he’ll win this 100%.

      ;)

      1. Nice prediction :D

      2. hope it happens! :P

      3. And you still missed another one. I mean, Grosjean will crash with somebody right? He likes to share the fun ;)

        1. with Alonso maybe?

        2. With a slow Webber

    19. Everybody saying that Ferrari´s strategy will yield a fail is in for a rude awakening. Sure, they will have a tought time at the start, but those tyres will last longer. I predict a prime-prime-option strategy and a fight at the end for the lead!! It´s going to be an epic one for sure!!

      1. I am in doubt if they can run 2-pit-strategy tomorrow.

    20. So 3 poles for the Trio of Sebastian Vettel, Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton.

    21. After missing both practice sessions on Friday, Bianchi qualified roughly 1 second faster than Chilton. I certainly hope that Lotus are eyeing him as a replacement for Kimi, or Ferrari plan to give him Massa’s seat.

    22. Alonso was lucky not to get hit with a grid drop after he seemed to impede Webber in Q3.

    23. As far as the start is concerned, are the drivers starting from the odd side of the grid at any advantage over the drivers starting from the even side of the grid

    24. Daniel Ricciardo is on it
