What a drive from Hamilton. He WON that race. The overtakes were needed to win it and Vettel just couldn’t match that today. I’m not one who says Vettel cannot overtake but today really showed how vital that skill is, and how good Hamilton is at it.

DRS overtakes aren’t really a matter of overtaking skill so much as a question of top speed.
D (@f190)
28th July 2013, 19:58
Yeah because there’s DRS around turn 3. Did you even watch the race?

Also the deficiencies of that Red Bull: it hasn’t got the straight line speed which was pretty crucial today. We saw that Hamilton made that pass on Button fairly easily, whereas Vettel just couldn’t get close enough down the main straight.

Exactly Max read my comment below I think Rbull set car up for clear air, and surely people are not still thinking Vet cant overtake, that “MYTH” was dispelled ages ago. People cant definitely say Ham would not have won though because he was doing great laps before is final stop he done a 25.7 then Web on fresh tyres done a 25.6. But Web was keeping Ham honest on old tyres so their was so many defining factors, and Max I no your a fair guy, Ham defo deserves this who would think his mega lap yday(no right for pole imo) would probably win the race.

@Vettel1
I agree but Redbull went with that setup thinking it was best. They got it wrong here I think. They know overtaking is limited here and the DRS is their beat chance to overtake . They chose to use more downforce to have an overall faster lap time. They know this could hurt them in the race but they took the risk and failed.

Hamilton is class, so glad he won today, people who said Ros was quicker were wrong, Ham is really taking over that battle, that’s not two say Ros wont beat him or get pole because Ros is a class act. But im going to be biast as since 07 the year Ham( the rookie easily matched Alo) started I have been a fan the guy is such class should be 2 wins but never mind 3 poles in a row and 4 for the season. And I think he is Vet biggest challenger although I don’t care who wins out of Vet and Ham, im sure most would agree Ham of all people should not really be a 1 time WC, just like Alo probably deserves another title.
Why though do people need to bring Vet into it whenever someone else overtakes “good” leave the guy alone he is a class act. Vet as easily shown he is as good as anyone in the pack now, is car is just built for clean air not the dri fault they struggle to pass on the straights.
And Ferrari just wow, we said it a few races ago are they losing the devolopement battle?, I think this proves it, a hot day a car good on tyres and they were nowere. The thing is id make Ham more of a chance than Alo for the title, and no one expected that.
One final thing Merc keep Brawn he is really about to start the Schumacher affect with Lewis I think.

DOTW for me. Even with all the complaining that they don’t have the pace :)

Huh complaining if you look at practise they were a lil off can you blame them with doing no testing. It certainly was not moaning, Ham like most of his fans probably though the Silverstone win would be one that would really cost him. But no he turns up and was mega.

I would say “at his very TEST cough (That Spanish secret —- still lingers in my mind)

28th July 2013, 15:37
Secret Test? If it was run as per Pirelli’s instructions as claimed then the entire world knows that Mercedes would not have learnt much as was evidenced from the YDT at Silverstone earlier this month. If at all they had gained anything I would say it would be with regard to next year’s tyres.
D (@f190)

They didn’t run the tyres in Spain so please stop going on about it.

Fernando Alonso: Ferrari are messing about, such a top driver.. he needs a top team and car behind him. shouldn’t they have fixed this wind tunnel problem by now? its been almost 3 years.
SeaHorse (@seahorse)
28th July 2013, 15:25
Calm down mate. Ferrari are redesigning their wind tunnel which must be ready for next year. For F138 they are using Toyota’s Cologne wind tunnel. I hope the summer break brings some much needed improvements to the car and brings cheers to the Scuderia fans.

Great drive from Hamilton. I laughed when Lotus crews burst out laughing. Those wheel-locks showed how Vettel is nervous.

Yay! So so happy with the win! Great drive by Lewis & everybody else. Gotta thank JB for holding up Seb, that really helped.
Was Roman’s penalty justified? I didn’t see the incident properly.

Finally a point for Williams. It’s interesting that Hulkenberg was P11, in spite of his drive through.
And Button finished ahead of Massa in a normal race.
These three teams have been quite disappointing so far, it seems that they are slowly recovering.

Brilliance from Hamilton! It was not a Mercedes Benz procession. Disappointed by Ferrari, Fernando and Felipe :( Hope the summer break bring cheers to us Ferrari! And Kimi proved his calm head with those old tyres. Glad to see Maldonado claim the first point for Williams. What happened to Ricciardo? Despite his high grid position he has ended the race lower than Vergne. And lastly someone needs to learn overtaking seriously :P (Expecting lot of flak from fellow F1Fs ;) )

I think Ricciardo lost out due to strategy, he just seemed to go backwards on the options in the first stint. Shame, the Toro Rosso is a poor car during the race but great over one lap.
Diceman (@diceman)
28th July 2013, 15:54
Once again, Vergne finished ahead of Ricciardo in the Race, despite starting much further. I wonder why.
Fantastic drive from Hamilton, it will be interesting battle for places 2-4 in the championship, as I still think Vettel is going away with it. And who knows, Webber might be in that fight also. What was surprising was Ferrari’s lack of pace. I seriously expected them to fight for the victory today.
Also, great to see Willimas finally scoring a point!

I was tracking him on timing and Ricciardo had a really slow pitstop in the first round which dropped him deep into the slow moving people on primes. From there they tried a 2 stop and it didn’t work out. He seemed to be on the pace in the first stint though, they just kept him out 1 lap too long. Don’t know what actually happened on the pit stop though…
Diceman (@diceman)

Everyone keeps praising ricciardo and tipping him to get the soon to be vacant red bull seat…..but he can’t beat his team mate in a race and trails his team mate by 2 points. Why doesn’t vergne get any props..because he isn’t a good qualifier? It’s hard to say if vergne finishes higher means he is the better driver. Button finished higher than ham twice? But I’m sure few would rather have JB over ham as an out n out racer.
Solo (@solo)
19th October 2013, 12:29
Is that a few fans or a few teams? Because if it’ the second no one would prefer JB over Hamilton except if they are looking for a top number 2 like Ferrari does for Alonso. Then JB will be a better choice than Hamilton.

so happy for Hamilton :D . Now , for a few more podiums or better, wins to liven this season up would be spectacular .
