McLaren marked their 50th anniversary at Monza but it was Red Bull who ran away with another victory.

Get a glimpse behind the scenes at the Italian Grand Prix. @AnthonyFrench rounds up what the teams and drivers shared on Twitter during the race weekend.

Thursday

Preparation for the last European race of 2013 began while McLaren readied more celebrations for their 50th anniversary.

Friday

Lewis Hamilton posted the fastest time in first practice but from there on in it was Red Bull all the way with Sebastian Vettel well clear of his pursuers in the afternoon.

Saturday

The Ferrari garage was busy on Saturday as Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo paid a visit along with former Renault team principal Flavio Briatore. However there was some embarrassment as Fernando Alonso criticised his team on the radio after their attempts to have Felipe Massa give him a slipstream went wrong.

Red Bull had little to worry about as they breezed to a comfortable front row lockout.

Sunday

Despite rain shortly before the start, conditions dried up in time for the race and saw Vettel cruise home to his sixth win of the season despite concerns over his gearbox.

Alonso split the RB9s and made his fourth consecutive visit to the Monza podium as a Ferrari driver. Mark Webber tasted champagne on his first appearance on the podium at Monza and his last visit as an F1 driver.

  1. Hahaha! “We just got Eddie Jordaned!” Brilliant!

  2. Who is Hoff?

    1. famous 80’s 90’s American TV actor,, guest of Red Bull for the day.

    2. David Hasselhoff

    3. Germany’s favourite star

      David Hasselhoff.

      1. Germany’s favourite star

        I think that’s actually a myth!

    4. The guy who is solely responsible for the reunification of Germany.

  3. Kimi Raikkonen didn’t get where he is today (or possibly tomorrow) by signing 100 caps and doing track walks. Max Chilton should tell his PR people to [Censored] off!

Very envious of Alonso and his pals – those pizzas look amazing.

  4. It was so awesome to see the Hoff there, me and my friends were watching the pre-race stuff and suddely there’s the Hoff, we al got so excited :P

  5. The photo of Alonso with the Monza crowd looks odd. It looks like he photoshopped his face into it.
Also, has the guy on then bottom right hand side of the “#flatcapstyle” McLaren tweet just turned 50? :)

    1. It does look a bit odd, but he took selfies with the crowd in the background after the podium ceremony. I assume this is one of those.

      1. I remember seeing him take that picture on the podium.. it does look odd though , may be because it was taken on his phone and his face was too close to the camera..

        1. that’s just what selfies look like, you can get farther from the camera than your arm’s lenght, obviously. I took a selfie on the Monza podium, like Alonso’s but the other way around. Anyway there’s not much you can see on top of the podium, apart from the Spanish flag

          1. Sorryy the link was lost

  6. That Luiz Razia tweet reminded me of the rain lights on Sebastians car blinking the whole race.. Is that really punishable??

    1. Not really – for stuff like this the team is informed first and the team has time to react. Since they didn’t I’d assume it wasn’t even a blip on Charlie’s radar.

  7. During qualifying the cameras picked up The Hoff and John Surtees in deep conversation, I can’t begin to imagine what about. John asking for Pamela Anderson’s phone number perhaps?

  8. I’m suprised this Tweet from Lotus wasn’t posted here or noted in any way:

Basically it’s the 31st time it’s organized, giving recognitions to the best driver, rookie, engineer, etc of the current F1 season.
