The Formula One season is up and running but there’s a who world of other motor racing action to enjoy during the year.

With major new international championships being launched, more manufacturers returning to racing, current F1 teams blooding new talent in junior categories and former F1 stars plying their trade in new series there’s almost too much racing action to take in during the year ahead.

F1 Fanatic Live will follow an increased number of selected championships this year and F1 Fanatic’s groups are getting new content and functionality for different racing categories ahead of the new season.

But what will you be watching? Have your say below.

IndyCar

Two former Indianapolis 500 winners and F1 stars return: Juan Pablo Montoya for a full season with Penske and Jacques Villeneuve just for the big race – where NASCAR’s Kurt Busch will also appear. The 18 races in three months now include three double points rounds and a race on the Indianapolis road course.

World Endurance Championship

Porsche arrive to make it a three-way fight between their V4-engined 919, the Audi R18 e-tron quattro with its turbodiesel V6 and Toyota’s TS040 V8 – all bristling with cutting edge energy recovery technology. And there’s the added intrigue of how Mark Webber will enjoy his return to sports car racing.

World Rally Championship

Three of the 13 events are already in the books and Sebastien Ogier is leading the way as expected, though team mate Jari-Matti Latvala has also started the season well. Hyundai have returned to join Citroen and Ford’s attempt to catch the flying Volkswagens.

Moto GP

A turbulent winter which included some very dubious rule making was finally left behind yesterday as the new season began in spectacular fashion. Jorge Lorenzo stole the lead on the first lap then threw it away, leaving Marc Marquez and Valentino Rossi to a gripping duel for victory. Seventeen more races like that one, please.

GP2

Ferrari, McLaren, Williams and Caterham all have junior drivers in the field in the shape of Raffaele Marciello, Stoffel Vandoorne, Felipe Nasr and Alexander Rossi respectively. Force India are also backing the Hilmer team as F1’s foremost feeder series has one of its bet line-ups for years.

Formula Renault 3.5

The uprated cars introduced two years ago, boasting more power plus a better implementation of DRS than F1, have helped make this a credible rival to GP2. For proof of that, look no further than reigning champion Kevin Magnussen who scored a podium on his F1 debut last week.

Formula Three

Still a valuable and relevant stepping-stone on the path to Formula One despite the emergence of GP3 as a competitor. While the FIA-backed European series goes from strength to strength the British championship is rebuilding after being forced to cut back to just four rounds last year.

GP3

Three of the four GP3 champions are already in F1 and the fourth – 2012 victor Mitch Evans – is plugging away in GP2. Last year’s car upgrade has strengthened its place on the ladder to F1, and in a further boost this year every round will support a grand prix.

DTM

Great cars and great drivers though the over-engineered racing (mandatory pit stops and DRS) too often fails to impress. The class of the field shines through, however, with young talent like Antonio Felix da Costa, Daniel Juncadella and Edoardo Mortara up against ex-F1 racers such as Paul di Resta and Timo Glock.

BTCC

A humongous 31-car field should ensure the British Touring Car Championship remains a crowd-pleaser. The welcome return of international talent to the series in the shape of Fabrizio Giovanardi and Alain Menu means there will be no fewer than seven champions on the grid.

WTCC

The manufacturer contest will be between Honda and Citroen in cars built to new rules which should make for more exciting cars whether or not they’re moving. All eyes will be on multiple WRC champion Sebastien Loeb following his latest change of codes.

Australian V8 Supercars

The new V8 Supercars championship got off to a thrilling start in Adelaide with new arrivals Volvo proving competitive right from the first round. The non-points F1 support races in Melbourne gave further indication that this year’s series won’t fail to excite.

NASCAR

Five races down, thirty-one still to go in NASCAR’s dauntingly long calendar. To keep the championship alive until the final rounds the organisers have introduced a complicated new points system. But finding tyres that could go the distance was more of a problem in yesterday’s race.

Formula E

A fascinating new addition the the international motor racing scene pits all-electric cars against each other on city-centre race tracks. But will it sustain interest once the novelty has worn off, and are they really serious about their naff ‘fanboost’ idea? All we be revealed in September.

World Rallycross Championship

Another new championship featuring explosively powerful cars racing on short, mixed-surface tracks in a series of heats. Top names including Jacques Villeneuve and Petter Solberg are already slated to feature in the inaugural 12-round series. Look out for a dedicated F1 Fanatic group soon.

Acceleration FA1

The new racing series just keep coming but the cars and premise of this one are familiar. The original generation A1 Grand Prix cars – which first saw action in 2005 – will be back for more nation-vs-nation action in a new ten-round European championship.

Over to you

Are you following any of these championships besides F1? What races do you always attend each year? And what about other series like Auto GP and Japan’s Super Formula?

  1. It says I can only choose one? Can I have multiple choices? :)

    1. Sorry about that – have put a new poll up as the original one wasn’t working properly.

      1. I only watch F1 at the moment and i get enough slack from the girlfriend for that! I feel for those of you who watch every season :’)

        1. Slack is a good thing. Do you mean Flack?
My wife cuts me some slack so I can watch F1. <—Good Thing
My wife gives me flack about watching F1. <— Annoying

          1. Haha, for me its the other way round, my boyfriend gives me loads of flack for watching F1 but I was watching it way, way, way before he came along, so tough!

I dont really watch other motorsport but if I did I wouldn’t hear the end of it.

          2. @zippyone

Me and my gf wouldn’t get into fights if she was as supportive as you . She cried last year when I snuck out of bed to go watch silverstone at 6:00AM in morning .

        2. In this day and age it’s all about compromise. So get rid of the girlfriend.

        3. Your GF is very demanding. You will will not spend a whole day in front of a TV, will you?

  2. It seems to allow me only 1 choice for other racing series to follow @keithcollantine, is that as intended?

  3. Well, pretty much eveything, only not Rallycross, and FA1. Let’s hope this year is the best in motorsport!

  4. Moto GP is definetely on my agenda. I was watching yesterday’s race and it proved to be a real thriller without silly artificial gimmics.

    1. You know that MotoGP is full of Electronics? Antispin, Wheelie Control etc…. this is way in there also a kid like in F1 now who is good ok but jumps from 250 to MotoGP and rides fine full limit right away…

      1. Moto2 have been using 600cc Honda engines since 2010, Marc didn’t start racing in Moto2 till 2011. Marc isn’t the first rider to win the MotoGP championship in his rookie year, Kenny Roberts did it in 1978 and many other riders have been able to ride at the limits from their first race in the championship.

      2. Chris did you watch the race on Sunday?
Marc Marquez has an incredible talent. He was riding with a half broken leg in a race where a lot of the big names crashed out due to a slippery track and new tire construction. He could have ended his season at the first race of the year. Instead it was heart in your watching him throw the bike sideways into corners. It was a great race, all the way to the line.
To me the racing in MotoGP is far more pure than the situation in F1. Sorry to those that disagree but I think politics, money and Bernie have created to many external pressures

        1. @grammo Let’s hope new rules put an end to Yamanha/Honda duopoly…

      3. So what you’re saying is MotoGP was able to introduce technology without negatively impacting the racing. Anytime I want to see real racing I watch MotoGP as F1 has lost the plot and processional races are the norm and not the exception.

    2. MotoGP is what F1 should be. And I’m not talking about the silly engine noise nonsense. I’m talking about excellent action, dramatic races, and modern viewing options.

The VideoPass with multiscreen viewing is truly outstanding.

Instead, we have Bernie nickel-and-diming everyone to death so he can get his decrepit fingers on more money.

      1. Sean, good point about the viewing options
If I could pay to watch F1 I would but where I’m living I can’t. Well I could but then I have to listen to 2 idiots squeal like school girls in a language I don’t understand. So I watch it illegally.
MotoGP I stream, I’m happy to pay and support it.

    1. @memorablec
Indeed, am I’m surprised it’s not on the list of choices. The Tudor United Sportscar Championship is a fantastic series.
The amalgamation of the ALMS and Grand AM Rolex Sportcar Series makes a great spectacle.
I find it odd that they didn’t keep the four colour code of red \ blue \ green and yellow for each class in the timing banner. Everytime I watch it’s just red and blue. But it’s now 2 red and 2 blue in the timing banner with one for prototypes and one for GT. Personally I find that not as easy to follow when viewing.

The poll says only 1 choice allowed.

I follow Moto GP and the WRC when I can. I prefer the personalities of Moto GP to F1 and I like the laid back feel to the WRC. I’ll be following the Rallycross though this year as it sounds pretty exciting. I used to follow loads of the other series such as GP2, GP3 and Formula Renault but gradually lost interest which probably reflects my dwindling interest in F1. Formula E looks pretty good though.

  6. BTCC is looking great with its 7 former champions on the grid

    1. And its 31 car grid !!

    2. I love BTCC, great racing.

    3. I watch occasionally Brazilian “Sock Car Brasil” and I like it, I don’t know if it is aired in many countries but I get it from TV Globo Internacional. The series is like a Brazilian DTM and has many former F1 drivers like Pizzonia, Zonta, Burti and Barrichelo.

  7. Only 1 choise? I could have picked 14 on that list. Moto GP I could give a miss.

  8. I chose WEC since only 1 choice was allowed but I’d say I’m also gonna follow the WRC and Formula E and Moto GP. I’d be interested to follow more like Indy, Nascar WRC etc. But where I live it’s quite hard to get affordable access to broadcasts and internet streaming is just a pain in the neck.

  9. Since I could only choose one (although I’m following several), I chose others just to say that I’m following StockCar as well.

  10. Euh… I picked up 7, but I’m only allowed to take 1, so I didn’t vote.

Here’s my list: IndyCar, GP2, FR3.5, F3, GP3, NASCAR, FE (watching most races), I’ll check the results for the other series too.

  11. Tudor United SportsCar and Pirelli World Challenge.

  12. I am following the usual with F1 which are NASCAR and WEC/ Le Mans, Aussie V8s along with Indy. This year I decided to follow WTCC more and probably vaguely follow the F1 feeder series, plan to follow Moto GP like I usually do, WRC I am following slightly and that’s about it. Main focus is F1, NASCAR, WEC and Aussie V8s.

I was following TUSCC but after two races at historic tracks salted with bad steward calls (Daytona avoidable contact when no contact was made, Sebring GT-D car getting punished for a GT-LM thus hurting their race). Full course cautions that don’t need to happen, gimmick cautions to manufacture close races. Thus I have decided to quite watching these races, and though I’m a die hard corvette racing fan, I just rather not watch fake race. It’s bad enough many of the series I follow at one time or another have almost gone down the path, but it’s different from living in it as TUSCC seems content to do. It is new yes, but new doesn’t mean it needs to be horrid and fake as well.

    WEC and DTM

    1. And V8 Supercars (just look at that last lap in Adelaide). Also maybe some WRC

  14. I will follow every racing series there, but as it only permitted one choice, I chose DTM. It will be my next main series this year as Antonio Felix da Costa is in there with BMW and how this season goes in terms of results and performance might dictate his future in the Red Bull programme. Let’s hope it all goes well, we all have high hopes for him this year here in Portugal.

  15. WEC, BTCC, WTCC, Formula E

  16. N J (@jewishjarvis)
    24th March 2014, 13:34

I would watch all of them if they were broadcast on Freeview…

  17. RallyCross cuz theyre about to conquer que world! Fast (with production base cars..YES!! Theres our Ford Fiestas or Citroen DS3), Loud (4cy. turbocharged, anti-lag, recuperation valv), Stadium-Tracks (full vision of the whole action)… shortcuts, dirt, ramps, bump racing… Its already the best thing ever! They just need to appear to more people

  18. Mostly WEC – will go to watch (and hear) one or two rounds of that, and drop in on the other races online (free and with great commentary)
Not paying or going out of my way to watch Moto GP – it’s almost as much of a multi-class race as sportscars. Marc Marquez was a massive breath of fresh air – a bit like Lewis Hamilton in 2007 – but otherwise it’s a bit predictable, and in fact I’ll miss the pack racing of Moto3 more.

I’ll watch the first Formula E race, but too early to say whether I’ll follow it.

I’ll also keep an eye on Renault 3.5. Looks like GP3 is becoming the new GP2, and GP2 the new WEC2…

    1. WilliamB (@william-brierty)
      24th March 2014, 15:38

@bullfrog – I would makes some amendments to that last statement…

      1) Formula Renault 3.5 is now unquestionably Formula 1’s main feeder series.

      2) GP3 retains its status as the penultimate wrung on the ladder to F1, but with FR3.5 the next step, not GP2.

      3) DTM and WEC now hold equal status as alternatives to those who failed to make the F1 cut.

      4) The main feeder for DTM is FIA F3, whereas the main feeder for WEC is Super GT.

      5) GP2 is now defunct, another FIA F2 series, and is now not so much a feeder series but a retirement home for well-backed but ultimately talentless racing drivers; as suggested in the way both the RBR and McLaren driver programmes ignore it.

      1. @William-Brierty

        5) GP2 is now defunct, another FIA F2 series, and is now not so much a feeder series but a retirement home for well-backed but ultimately talentless racing drivers; as suggested in the way both the RBR and McLaren driver programmes ignore it.

Except for the fact that McLaren have placed Stoffel Vandoorne in the series for this year, and Ferrari have brought Marciello in too. You could argue Mitch Evans is a Red Bull driver with his backing from both the energy drink and Mark Webber (who remains a Red Bull athlete)

Granted, there are some drivers in that series who have been there forever, and only remain there because of their funding, but there is some mega talent in the GP2 field.

        1. WilliamB (@william-brierty)
          25th March 2014, 11:03

@ryanwilliams – McLaren placed Vandoorne in GP2 as a litmus test of his talents owing to the fact rookies have struggled to make much headway in recent years, as the very talented Mitch Evans proves. Had McLaren kept Vandoorne in FR3.5 he would have gone unchallenged in his surge to the title, so broadening his experience by placing him GP2 was a sensible decision and one where Ferrari showed similar logic with Marciello. But as much as 2014 is a litmus test of Vandoorne, 2014 is a litmus test for GP2 because based on previous results, there is nothing to suggest that any of the drivers have the talent to challenge Marciello and Vandoorne, but if the more experienced Palmer, Nasr, Rossi or Abt win out, thus concreting the status of experience over talent, then GP2 will indeed become defunct. The eventual champion of every year since Hulkenberg’s 2009 rookie title has had over three seasons of experience; this is a trend that must be broken or GP2 will become fundamentally nonviable.

  19. Also, let’s not forget Robert Kubica races in the WRC this year. Well, it’s been only crashes and bruises in the first few events, but let us not lose hope ;)

  20. So let’s see: definitely GP2, GP3, WTCC, WRC, WEC, FR3.5, DTM, MotoGP (and maybe WSBK or one of its supporting series if Talmácsi can return), Formula E, and probably European F3 (or whichever championship will be covered here), GT Open, ERC and Indycar (or at least I’ll give it a go, I haven’t really followed IC before but it’ll be shown here now). Maybe I’d watch some Blancpain, FIA GT, BTCC and V8 Series too if they were covered on TV.

    1. WilliamB (@william-brierty)
      24th March 2014, 15:28

@hunocs – GT is on Motors TV, and if you can’t get ITV4 for BTCC where you are then races are generally quickly uploaded here.

        1. @william-brierty
Thanks for the tips, but for a while now we don’t have Motors TV here in Hungary, and obviously no ITV either. Also, these would be in my “probably” category anyway – if they were shown here, I’d watch that, but they are not my biggest interest so I don’t really try looking for streams either (like I do with GP2) because I watch quite a lot of other sports too, so these only have a place in my “very free time” :)

    2. Oh, and AutoGP is a “definitely” too.

  21. As you may be able to tell by my avatar, I’ll definitely be watching IndyCar. Last season was just epic with lots of different winners. I’ve become hooked having started watching in 2011.

Having started watching it last year, I plan to watch the whole of the WEC season this year. I did plan to go to Silverstone too but I had other plans.

Like WEC, I started watching MotoGP last year too. The first race was absolutely EPIC last night, hoping for more like that!

I’ll be watching the F1, so I may as well wake up earlier and watch GP2 and GP3 too. There’s some big names in GP2 this year!

I also plan to watch as much BTCC as possible, and may as well give Formula E a go with the big names that it has.

Out of all those, however, I am most excited about IndyCar! I’m primarily hoping James Hinchcliffe can build on his trio of wins last year, and hoping Will Power can challenge this year despite double points being introduced. I’m really excited to see Carlos Munoz and Juan Pablo Montoya jump straight into big teams too.

    1. Munoz was an Andretti development driver, and JPM’s history justifies a strong team – it was just a surprise he didn’t take over for Franchitti.

I do dislike the weighted points, and hope they make up for it by either adding distance and points to road courses which are long enough for better use of local yellows, (a major flaw in IndyCar is the hair trigger on a full-course caution). Now, 500-milers at Road America, Watkins Glen, and COTA would be epic!

I’m looking forward to Sunday for my first two-race day of 2014!

      1. ^Either distance & points OR more road/street courses.

Laguna Seca, Road America, Portland Int’l Raceway, and Burke Lakefront Airport in particular. If they want to go to Suzuka, Interlagos, and Spa instead, I’ll take those in a heartbeat.

  22. I watch Indycar when it’s not ovals, WEC and the American le Mans series, GP2 and 3, I like Aussie V8’s and will take a look at Formula E.

  23. Also follow ADAC GT Masters, British gt championship , Gt Open, Tudor championship, VLN, ELMS

  24. Here I go: Auto GP World Series, Euroformula Open, Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0, Formula Renault 2.0 NEC, Formula Renault 2.0 Alps, Protyre Formula Renault, ADAC Formel Masters, BRDC Formula 4, FIA Italian F4, French F4 Championship, Formula Renault 1.6 NEC Junior, Formula Renault 1.6 Alps Junior, Formula Renault 1.6 Nordic Championship, British Formula Ford, Formula BMW Talent Cup, Formula Masters China, MRF Challenge F2000 …..

    1. WilliamB (@william-brierty)
      24th March 2014, 15:25

      @wsrgo – No DTM? No BTCC? No WEC, MotoGP, GP2, GP3, FR3.5 or FIA F3? Lightweight…

      1. @william-brierty I only wrote the names of the series which were not on the list..

        1. WilliamB (@william-brierty)
          24th March 2014, 16:12

@wsrgo – Yeah I know that, I was joking. Do you tend to single seater series, because there are a number of GT and touring car series that I follow not on the list?

          1. @william-brierty I prefer single seaters because I don’t get much coverage of the other championships, plus I work for a site, PaddockScout.com, which covers single seaters mainly..

          2. WilliamB (@william-brierty)
            25th March 2014, 11:05

            @wsrgo – I think I’ve just fallen in love with that website…

          3. @william-brierty Glad to see you like it :)

  25. Besides F1, WEC and WRC are fun to watch. MotoGP is on my agenda for along time. Stoner leaving and Marquez stepping up. Brilliant. I follow most of them but can’t watch them all in Belgium. Mostly reviews of races via youtube.

  26. Most likely to be following most of those series when possible (and whenever I can get hold of live coverage). Most looking forward to the new Indycar and WEC seasons, but after that MotoGP season opener I could be following that a lot more closely too. Interested to se what happens with Formula E…it could go either way at the moment I think.

  27. petebaldwin (@)
    24th March 2014, 14:45

I’m going to try and watch Indycar more this year. I usually try at the start of the season and lose interest but I’ll have another go!

WEC could be good this year and I’m interested to see how Formula E gets on. I’ll certainly watch the first race and see where we go from there..

  28. Chris (@tophercheese21)
    24th March 2014, 14:46

I’ve been thinking of starting to follow the V8 Supercars series some more. If you want hard fought, gimmick free racing, then the V8 Supercars are what you want.

However, I’ve never really warmed to it, because it’s got an element of “bogan” to it. A strong element of bogan in fact.
Another problem with it is the amount of sponsorship.

I understand that sponsorship is what pays for events to happen, but it’s gotten absolutely out of hand. EVERYTHING has a sponsor. Anytime you go “onboard” with a driver, there are billboards in the cars carrying a buffet of sponsorship decals. It looks terrible, and doesn’t make a good impression.

Also, I don’t think the cars are very good looking either.

Other than that, I thought I’d start following GP2 more closely. I was watching some of the races on YouTube earlier today, and the racing is great! The drivers are absolutely crazy, but it’s high quality entertainment.

      1. Chris (@tophercheese21)
        24th March 2014, 23:11

        @keithcollantine
        Bogan

The drivers aren’t bogans, in fact they seem like some of the nicest, most genuine people in Motorsport.

But some of the fans (not all of them) that you see who follow the sport, and who go to races are very very bogan indeed: thongs on-foot, VB in-hand, stubby shorts, and a wife beater singlet on, oh, and very few teeth. Lol.

I should stress that not all V8 Supercars fans are like this at all, but for some reason this series does tend to attract these types of people.

        1. mikeylikesit
          25th March 2014, 0:53

Love watching V8 SC. Can’t get most motorsports where I live so I get them off of the net in the usual questionable
          ways.

  29. Voted NASCAR, MotoGP, IndyCar, DTM, WEC, WRC.

Then in other I voted for Autobacs Super GT. New regulations for the GT500 class and a solid GT300 field. Tried starting a thread about it last year, to almost zero interest (and one complaint about the success ballast, which, okay fine – but that’s not a problem for BTCC and Blancpain???).

  30. None. switched to following Wrestling, the rules make more sense.

  31. Well, some of you can judge by my comments that I really dig NASCAR besides F1.

Other than that I will rather follow certain events than whole seasons of categories. I’m more like an event- and track-based guy.

So I’ll definitely root for Mark Webber and Porsche during the 24hrs of Le Mans, but I’ll probably not watch any other WEC round.

I’ll try to watch classics such as the GP of Long Beach and the Sonoma rounds of IndyCar (and for the latter, WTCC as well), but I’ll not follow their whole season.

I want to catch some hours of the Bathurst 1000, but no other rounds of the V8s.

I will watch a lot of BTCC around the classic tracks of Brands Indy and GP, Donington, Oulton Park (back to the Intl circuit, woo), and Knockhill, but I won’t be bother by the flat airfield tracks of Snetterton, Croft and indeed Silverstone.

  32. I voted Moto Gp and Formula 3.5, because I will try to watch all the races of these series. But I will definitely watch the Indy 500, and I might watch the Formula E, because I am curious.

  33. I might follow WEC so I picked that, and I’ll probably watch MotoGP.

  34. Moto GP, Formula E and WEC.

  35. I can’t get enough of DTM, the field is superb, the cars look and sound great, although sometimes the mandatory pit-stop rule seems a bit stupid, overall it’s my favourite racing series. Also, every race is streamed live on YouTube! I can’t recommend it enough! Obviously WEC is unbelievably good, P1 cars are as fast as F1 cars, and look cooler, but sometimes the race for the lead can be a dull. GP2 and 3 are always fun, and with a great feild this year. I hope someone really experienced doesn’t win again, like the last 2 years, it devalues the championship (though I do rate Leimer, Valsecchi less so). Might try and watch the Indy 500 this year, I never have…

  36. IndyCar never really enticed me, I’ve tried to watch it before but it seems a bit too… American. Anyway, I’m keeping an eye on FR3.5 and GP3 for watching new drivers, WEC since I’m getting more into endurance racing, and Formula E because it could go either really well or horribly wrong!

  37. WilliamB (@william-brierty)

    What do I watch? Well…

Formula 1, DTM, World Endurance Championship, British Touring Car Championship, World Touring Car Championship, World Rally Championship, European Rally Championship, Indycar, MotoGP, Moto2, Moto3, GP2, GP3, European FIA Formula 3, British Formula 3, Auto GP World Series, Formula Renault 3.5 World Series, Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0, Formula Renault 2.0 NEC, Formula Renault 2.0 Alps, ADAC Formel Masters, BRDC Formula 4, Blancpain GT Sprint, British GT, Porsche Supercup, British Porsche Carrera Cup, British Renault Clio Cup, British Ginetta Junior Cup, British Ginetta GT Cup, British Formula Ford.

…note the lack of NASCAR and Formula E?

  38. My series list : WRC, Touring Car, GT, and endurance..

  39. WEC, GP2, GP3, FR3.5 and Formula E are the ones I will follow closely; Indycar, WRC, WTCC, MotoGP and (perhaps) DTM occasionally. In addition to that I am very much looking forward to the new season of the GT Series. I am very, very pleased to see F1F Live will be covering FR3.5 as well: always felt a bit awkward talking about it over the forums.

The series I’m most curious about is Formula E: it’s really going to be something completely different on all levels, from cars to organization. I can’t wait to see how that will unfold (although the Vote to Pass and the Beijing circuit aren’t very promising).

  40. The one’s I’ll try to catch on a consistent basis: WRC, V8 Supercars, World RallyCross, TUSCC, WEC and DTM. I love GP2/GP3 races but they’re a lot harder to find on a consistent basis.

I love DTM since all their races are free on YouTube. F1 can learn a lot from how other series display their content…

  41. I voted on what I’ll be watching this season, which is the BTCC (I can’t wait for Sunday!), DTM, the WRC, Formula E (the grid looks impressive) and British Formula 3, but I forgot to vote for that!
I’ll also be following the results and perhaps highlights of GP2, FR3.5 and the WEC.

But for anyone who hasn’t watched the BTCC, I can’t recommend it highly enough! It is thrill-a-minute racing, and that wasn’t with a 31-strong grid!

  42. Various karting series.

  43. The feeder series and MotoGP definitely, hopefully Formula E as well.

  44. The plan is to watch Indycar, WEC, GP2, GP3, Formula Renault 3.5, DTM, Formula E and MXGP, but I doubt I’m going to watch every single race.

I follow MXGP mainly because of Antonio Cairoli. I’m not really the patriotic guy, I don’t care if a driver or team is from my home country or not (as a matter of fact I am Italian and not a Ferrari supporter!), but I make an exception for Cairoli. He was born in the same city I was, so it’s pretty cool to see him dominating. It’s a bit boring because he wins a lot, but I like watching a race from time to time.

  45. MotoGp….Seriously what a race on sunday…Young vs the Old…amazing first race surely gonna follow it well this year…

  46. TUDOR United SportsCar Championship

  47. USCC

  48. mainly gp2 and gp3, ever since i went to the nurburgring last i’m hooked to those series. i’m also following the wec and probably will follow the formula e once it starts.

  49. IndyCar (as an American it is readily available to me, been following for years), MotoGP (although it will have to be off some sketchy internet stream), BTCC via YouTube, and Formula E (just to check it out/see if I like it).

I will also probably try to watch Le Mans and some DTM (it is exciting and high quality racing, it is a shame that no American stations carry it, might be via YouTube)

  50. I will follow GP2, GP3, WSR and the AUTOGP series from Hungary as well. I’m very happy, because the Zele Racing hired Tamas Pal Kiss. He completed many race with the AUTOGP in the former year, but not entire season. Now, i hope he will get many championship points to the team!
Go Zele Racing, Hajrá Tamás! :)

  51. BSB and WSB too

  52. I watch MotoGP on Fox. Really would like to watch WEC, DTM and V8 Supercars, just don’t know how/where to watch them.

    1. DTM is on YouTube, here https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwKq447rYMVI5dAQWMmFnfg You can watch all of last season on it as well, it’s epic.

  53. I only watch what I can get on free-to-air here in Australia (except for motoGP). Love V* supercars, and for a year or two I’ve been following Nascar. Initially I thought it was ridiculous but the rules that impose parity among manufacturers keeps it interesting.

  54. Moto GP all day. Great personalities throughout the grid. Crazy fast bikes, less politics and BS. Awesome racing. Yesterday’s race saw a back and forth battle to the last lap between Rossi and Marques. It is everything F1 should be but can’t.

    1. Pretty sure the politics of MotoGP are fairly extreme. Just ask Stoner.

      1. Nothing compared to F1 buddy, besides the quality racing really is hard to beat. @alebelly74

  55. Seeing that BTCC was recommended, anywhere I can watch that as a Yank?

  56. All bar Acceleration FA1, and a few others, namely the Blancpain Endurance and Sprint series, British & World Superbikes, European Le Mans Series, the new EUROV8 Series (used to be Superstars), Global Rallycross, Super GT, Trophée Andros and the United SportsCar Championship.

Yes, I realise I am a huge motorsport nerd, but I’m studying for a degree in Motorsport Engineering, so watching a ton of racing counts as coursework, right?

  57. World Superbike Championship receives way too few attention.

On sunday, you get 4 short, action-packed races: one for Superstock bikes, which are pretty much street bikes with few modifications, one for Supersport, the ferocious 600ccm bikes with extra-close battles at the top, and the main dish – 2 Superbike races on one day, with a grid full of well experienced, usually ex-MotoGP riders that will battle for the win like there’s no tomorrow. I’ve been a huge fan of the series since 2003, and battles for the lead happen so often, that a race is declared dull when they’re nowhere to be seen. I used to visit the Czech Republic round of the championship, but sadly, this year it’s gone.

I strongly recommend this series to every 2-wheel motorsport fan.

  58. WEC, Moto GP, BTCC are for certain. Indycar if I can find a way to watch it, USCC if it improves from the drab “caution-fest” it was at Sebring, WTCC if Loeb can mount a strong challenge or as long as Muller doesn’t run away with it again and finally Formula E is also very intriguing…

  59. For me, it’s Indycars, WEC, MotoGP, GP2, GP3, DTM, BTCC, NASCAR and Formula E.

Other championships I’m taking an active interest in are the new United Sportscar Championship, the European Le Mans Series, and both MotoGP feeder series, Moto2 and Moto3.

For a while I’ve also been wanting to follow Aussie V8s as well as Japan’s Super GT and Super Formula championships, but the time zone differences have always made it a little difficult for me, as a little Englander, to follow the racing live. But I still will try to watch at least the Suzuka and Bathurst 1000km races. Other racing I shall try to follow will be the 24 hour races at Spa and the Nurburgring.

  60. F3 – Max Verstappen
MotoGP – real men, real tracks

I’ll be religiously watching GP2 and GP3, as well as FR3.5.

Will try to watch BTCC when I remember it’s on, but don’t really like it as much as I used to. MotoGP as well, and might watch a bit of Formula E as it’s on ITV4.

Would watch DTM too, but don’t believe there’s any live coverage in the UK apart from online, and I don’t really do online TV.

  62. I will be following the NASCAR, V8s, MotoGP and maybe some Formula E

  63. MotoGP and Supercross. No other car series…

  64. i’ll also be following the Irish & Ulster Road Racing Championship, the Irish Road Racing Championship and the International Road Races ( Isle of Man TT, Northwest 200 and Ulster GP)

  65. GP2 – the Real F1

  66. Webbo, Iannone and maybe some E if it works.

  67. WRC, ERC and maybe Formula E.

  68. In Australia we don’t get DTM, WRC, Indy car or WEC :( so I would have added that to my list of V8’s, Moto GP, NASCAR and BTCC.

    1. According to the promoter, you get Indy Lights on Speed in Australia, so Indycar should be on the same channel.

  69. All of the above, besides MotoGP, plus Red Bull GRC and British GT

  70. Thinking about it, and even in light of a lot of things I don’t like about it, I don’t consistently watch a whole lot other than F1.

Indycar – Will tune in from time to time as absolutely loved it in the 1990s when I would actually argue it was a superior, purer racing series than F1. Ever since the split though it’s been hard to get too excited about it but each year I live in hope! Ditched too many great road courses (Laguna Seca, Road America in particular) and miss the variety of different chassis providers too. Not a great talent pool of drivers if I’m honest too.

GP2 – watch the odd race but has become bit of a rich boy’s series over the past 4 years or so. There’s not been a Hamilton or (back in F3000 days) a Montoya who’s made me think “this kid is incredible”. I would watch Formula Renault 3.5 in stead but is always bit hapharzardly scheduled on Eurosport and Motors TV.

Will follow Le Mans every year but not really got the time to watch the other WEC races although the Audi v Toyota v Porsche battle this year could change my mind.

Moto GP – Nah. Probably too set in my ways but motorbikes have never rocked by boat for some reason. The only 2 wheelers I’m into are in the Tour de France.

  71. Indycar, GP2, GP3, WSbR, WRC, Moto GP, F3 Euro and that’s about it. WEC is a high speed engineering exercise that’s so boring not even MW’s presence will make me follow it. The only touring car series worth following are V8 supercars and BTCC but I can’t watch them anyway so why follow them? Formula E I might watch should I ever need a sleeping pill in the form of the all-electric whizzing which the stupid organizers dare call “futuristic”. Among the other things I don’t like about it. First time I heard about this “Acceleration” nonsense was here and now, and the notion excites me a lot(not at all)
Nascar, as per usual I will watch the 2 road course races but nothing much else

  72. Any info about witch TV channels with transmit the Formula E Championship in each country?

    1. It’ll be on Fox Sports 1 in the US

  73. I will also be following TUSC if it survives the bad management. I hear rumours that some are looking to start a new series? Sebring was a disaster with the loss of 5 hours of racing mainly due to the officiating. I cannot see how they will manage the yellows in a 2 hour race at long Beach if it takes 30 minutes to pass a full course yellow. Fans will be screaming for a return on the cost of their tickets. I want to see sport car racing not Nascar style officiating, club racing will be more exciting.

  74. If E is on TV and I can find it, I’ll watch, but just took Indycar as other series to watch.

  75. I’m glad a lot of us are giving FE a go. I’m surprised a lot more are watching WEC than Indy, and how GP2 has a much bigger following than GP3.

Also Keith, I’ve noticed there hasn’t been a “Why you should watch World Endurance Championship” on here yet, I’ll be surprised if there isn’t one before April 20th!

  76. F1 Fanatic: I would like to join to a AUTOGP group, but it doesn’t exist yet. Is there any chance of making a group in the immediate future?

  77. I don’t consider myself an hard core racing fanatic, so I usually only follow F1 (I do enjoy it a lot tho).
Still, this year I’m fairly curious about Formula E as I consider it to be a major step forward in what regards the real-world application of technology regarding street cars.
Although we’re watching a major relevance of “hybrid” engine technology on F1 cars, pure electric is still yet to be seen on major competitive races, so Formula E is, in my humble opinion, a great step in that direction and I fully support it.

  78. For me its NHRA drag racing. Bikes, pro mods, funny cars and dragsters, 10000 bhp nitro fun @ 320 mph

  79. Out of the listed series; IndyCar, World Endurance Championship, GP2, Formula Renault 3.5, Formula Three (European, German, British), GP3, DTM, Australian V8 Supercars, NASCAR and Formula E. Never been big on MotoGP, WRC lost me when all the works teams left and Loeb won everything (and Eurosport’s TV listings became the most inaccurate thing ever) and WTCC and BTCC I typically watch if they’re on Motors TV, but don’t really know that much about.

Other series I’ll be following (varying from closely to ‘watching it when it’s on Motors TV’)
Formula Renault 2.0 (NEC and Alps), NASCAR Nationwide series, ELMS, United SportsCar Championship, Dutch Supercar Championship, ADAC GT Masters, Blancpain GT Endurance Series and probably a few I’m forgetting.

  80. Australian V8 Supercars on 7 for this year and Ten for 2015 and beyond, MotoGP on Ten for this year
