Ricciardo 3 wins, Vettel 39 wins. Just wait until Ricciardo has as many GP’s under his belt as Vettel has had the score will be I’m sure more for Ricciardo then Vettel. If you really want to look at the record between Vettel and Ricciardo then; in Vettel’s 1st and 2nd year’s he got 3 wins, which were, 2007 he got 1 win at the USA GP and in 2008 he got 2 wins 1 in Canada and 1 in Germany that is the same wins as Daniel Ricciardo has got so far in 2014 in 2 years.
in Vettel’s 1st and 2nd year’s he got 3 wins, which were, 2007 he got 1 win at the USA GP and in 2008 he got 2 wins 1 in Canada and 1 in Germany that is the same wins as Daniel Ricciardo has got so far in 2014 in 2 years.
I think you’re very confused. His first win was Italy 2008 in his first full season, then 4 wins the following year. 2007 USA was his debut where he scored 1 point. He didn’t win in any of those countries until 2010, and that was the European rather than German GP. It wasn’t until 2013 that he won any of those.
Sorry, I’m so very wrong and you are right, Sebastian Vettel in 2007 only scored 6 points an 8th at USA and 4th in CHN, in 2008 he scored 39 points with 4th MON, 8th CAN, 8th GER, 6th EUR, 5th BEL, 1st ITA which was his first win in F1, 5th SGP, 6th JAP and 4th BRA. His performance in 2008 looks very similar to his 2014 results. And his results in 07-08 in comparison to Ricciardo is even worst even if you take Ricciardo’s results in the Toro Rosso last year.
the lack of a diffuser really hurting him specially today with the skinny rear wing where he has sliding around struggling with the back end of the car hopefully red bull will be able to get more rear downforce so that we can see a more direct fight between them
It would be great for F1 2014 if Rosberg and Hamilton be both disqualified and then the real racing will begin instead of this winging, wining and all these innuendoes back and forth from both sides splitting F1 and making everything so unpleasant.
Mmm yeah, but the car wasn’t that good as it seemed either. His tyres were gone too in the last part of the race, plus… this track is no Hungaroring regarding passing possibilities.
His teammate probably would have beaten him with or without his penalty, the car wasn’t actually that bad.
this track is no Hungaroring regarding passing possibilities.
Were you refering of him passing others or him defending positions? Hungaroring probably has the least overtaking spots in the calendar after Monaco and Singapore. Spa, on the other hand, has at least 3 great spots for overtaking.
@toiago I thought he was right there for most of the race, doing a really good job, but he just made that tiny but costly mistake on that last lap. The actual battle itself I thought Alonso was the strongest in there.
Bearing in mind he had to have a 5 second penalty through no fault of his own, he might have never been in that situation had that not happened.
I think he made the mistake after he got angry at Magnussen for twice driving him off the road! Alonso drove good until then, and looked like he would finish 5th. he can afford a bad result after being so great for so long.
The Rosberg booing is justified in my opinion and I hope it affects him. Congratulations to Daniel Ricciardo, who now is a genuine title contender! Bottas putting in.. well.. a result he deserves again! Alonso wasn’t good today though, outsmarted by KMAG! and others…
@Custard, pushed on the grass at 200mph is the equivalent of “outsmarted” for you? Magnussen has already destroyed 2 races for kimi this year and now Alonso. Somebody must punish him to stop driving like an imbecile.
Booing like that isn’t justified, speaking as an Aussie who still didn’t boo Vettel after the Multi 21 incident. It’s a racing incident, if Rosberg suffered instead of Hamilton, would booing Hamilton be OK?
If it was a deliberate, dangerous, callous act, sure, that’s wrong and he should know that. But it wasn’t, it was a racing incident. Let Lewis & Nico sort it out at Monza in two weeks time.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but yours is wrong. Listen to Toto and Niki’s interviews, who by the way are Mercedes personnel, are outraged with Nico and I’m sure they’ll be more than booing towards him.
The crowd is fed up with Rosberg, this isn’t the first controversial incident he’s been in with Hamilton. Vettel receiving boos for winning is what you call unjustified. Rosberg has done something wrong, again.
No, it’s ok to boo if in Abu Dabhi either Rosberg and Hamilton just throw their car at the other to secure the championship (like some people have done before).
Very surprised about Ricciardo’s pace on this track. I was expecting Bottas to be very close if not ahead of Ricciardo, but he was nowhere near the Australian.
Impressive how Red Bull could adapt to a track which on paper seemed to be one of the worst for their car.
I feel that Rosberg could and should have easily won the race, but his inability to overtake Vettel, locking up his front and getting a flat spot ruined his middle stint and effectively cost him the win.
If you want some stats between Vettel and Ricciardo then here is a comparison; in Vettel’s 1st and 2nd year’s he got 3 wins, which were, 2007 he got 1 win at the USA GP and in 2008 he got 2 wins 1 in Canada and 1 in Germany that is the same wins as Daniel Ricciardo has got so far in 2014 in 2 years. I say no more and as you say at Spa it was 50 second gap between them, I say no more again.
Vettel finished 8th in those three races, each was worth 1 point which is where the confusion may be. At equivalent point after three years (Ricciardo started half way through 2011) Seb had 7 wins, although he was driving more competitive machinery for those so there isn’t a comparison.
Great result for Kimi, would have loved a podium, but this at least shows he’s up for it. Shame for Fernando, but that was to be expected from the start with that penalty.
Was there any news in the post-race interviews if Vettel had any car troubles? to some extend it looked like China where he simply couldn’t keep up with RIC but his S2 times were completely off pace so I’m wondering if he maybe damaged his floor in the L1 incident.
red bull have changed their gears before this race. how on earth are they going to do good in brazil or japan with those gears? monza will be the last race of the year where longer gears will make sense.
I think that the stewards were very tolerant on that occasion, I thought that they were going to give him a drive through. Ted Kravitz said that teams were not happy with this decision, they thought that the penalty was too lenient.
So Hamilton retires because because he can’t get a place? So much for sportsmanship. Imagine a football match where one team is 4-0 down with 20 minutes to go, they know they probably can’t win so they just walk off? Anyhow, there were at least 15 other drivers who probably couldn’t get podium and would probably also like to “save” their engines. How about if they all decide to pull out for some apparent problem. What sort of race would that be? Hamilton needs to stop acting like a spoilt kid and grow up and act like a professional.
