Slippery track conditions caught several drivers out in practice, among them Romain Grosjean, who surprisingly sported a Matt Le Blanc-themed helmet.

Here’s the Twitter story of Friday at the United States Grand Prix.

First practice

Grosjean suspected a car problem after running wide at turn 19.

Second practice

The wind picked up in the afternoon.

FOM’s combination of two camera images made for an interesting addition to the coverage.

Just like in the morning, Grosjean was suspicious of his Lotus, while team mate Pastor Maldonado had his second spin of he day.

Following Jules Bianchi’s incident in the Japanese Grand Prix, changes to safety car proceedings were tested after both sessions.

Pits and paddock

Sebastian Vettel will start Sunday’s race from the pit lane, but still intends to take part in qualifying.

A special design on Adrian Sutil’s helmet, which his girlfriend tried on.

  1. The tyre temperature overlay is a lovely addition. I know it doesn’t always show the whole tyre in temp form, but they might still be refining it.

Also, Perez’ new steering wheel looks just like a WiiU Gamepad!

  2. Kudos to Keith on that McLaren response!

Sutil’s fighter pilot helmet is awesome!

Grosjean’s Matt Leblanc helmet is the stupidest helmet I’ve ever seen…..and yes,I do remember Hamilton’s Michael Jackson helmet.

    1. It certainly is.

  3. Didn’t realise Mario was that small compared to Rosberg.

    1. Makes Rosberg look giant, doesn’t it!
