Rosberg gained more on Hamilton in the last lap than the entire race.

Great job by Ferrari power unit department! Ferrari and Sauber have speed and reliability so far, so good.
Ferrari need work on pit stops.
Renault have gone backwards on speed and on reliability.
No need for commenting on Mercedes or McLaren. Both are self explanatory albeit in opposite directions.
Kudos to Button for keeping that pig going around the track for the whole race.
Great job by the rookies Sainz, Nasr and Verstappen. Verstappen was cheated out of finish, but still a great job in his debut.
RBR is in a heap of trouble.

Agree with you about ferrari but not about the pit stops. Unfortunately for Raikonen he was bashed twice at the start and thus damaging the left rear.Basic really. He will be back.

15th March 2015, 9:36
Yes, Button is really good, he almost scored a point in that beast :-).
Eggry (@eggry)
15th March 2015, 6:44
Alonso should take a rest several race comfortably. whether he or not Mclaren can not score a point.
Patrick (@paeschli)
15th March 2015, 6:55
I agree. There’s no point going to Malaysia for him.

Go Felipe babies!
mateuss (@mateuss)
15th March 2015, 6:48
That’s quite a short list…
My observations and thoughts:
The cars look a lot faster.
The Ferrari pace looks good. Enough to at least hope to challenge Mercades if Merc has a bad weekend,Ferrari gain track position through circumstance or out-develop them somewhat.
McLaren-Honda’s pace promises a lot of potential in the not so near future.
And I did not expect Button to finish, or to be giving us some of the best excitement by racing somebody.
The race data will be a very valuable for Honda.

Loved how Ham kept goading Ros then could pull a gap whenever needed. Great job also Ros should be happy he was good too. People need stop saying Alo was not a mistake it was, Ferrari have been way more succesful than Mclaren since the 90’s. Alo now going to waste another peak it just goes south now, father time is undefeated.
cdavman (@cdavman)
15th March 2015, 6:54
So assuming Alonso returns for Malaysia, not only will he be in a car that’s off the pace, presumably he’ll already be down to 3 remaining components for some parts of his power unit. That’ll cheer him up.

Really interesting race on many levels, really disappointing race on many levels, hoping for a season with as much drama!
As an american I’m even more excited about HAAS running that Ferrari power unit and suspension system.

Never expected Mclaren-Honda to finish the race. That’s a bonus I guess! :/
Impressed with:
Sauber and Ferrari – much better than I expected them to be.
Nasr and Hulk performances were stand-outs from the drivers.
Patrick (@paeschli)
15th March 2015, 7:06
Hulk was good, but Perez seemed to struggle a lot today.
Tifoso1989 (@tifoso1989)
15th March 2015, 6:56
The pre season testing results were confirmed today :
-Mercedes unreachable.
-Ferrari have improved in all areas especially the PU.
-Sauber progress have been confirmed.
-RBR are struggling with the Renault PU and McLaren are nowhere.
Palle (@palle)
15th March 2015, 7:45
I wouldn’t say McHonda is nowhere – they seem to be a solid last of the pack;-)
Marcel (@mreis)
15th March 2015, 8:27
Not all of then.
Cars seemed more reliable during pre season.
I don’t know what’s gonna happen next races and during the whole season but i’m afraid to see lots of deliberated DNF in order to save PU, especially from the bottom field. Races like today may be a commonplace in this new formula 1.
Ozan (@ozan)
15th March 2015, 7:00
Now after first race comparing to tests I think tests seemed quite representative.
-Mercedes was far more faster than the others. Check
-Ferrari was faster than others and closer to Mercedes than last year. Check
-Williams seemed fast but not as close as last year. Check
-Sauber was impresive. Check
-Not sure where Red Bull was. Honestly I wasn’t sure whether Ricciardo would see the finish line. But he saw. Good for him. Check
-Torro Rosso looked ok. Check
-Force India was late but looked ok. Slower than last year obviously. Check
-A total nightmare for Mclaren. Check But at least Button finished. That’s one more better than a total nghtmare which would be a double DNF for them. He should have felt like a Hobbit that has gone as far as the borders of Shire for the first time when he left behind the 13th lap.
-Lotus totally unknown. Check
-Monor nowhere to be seen. Check.
So when everyone was assuming tests don’t resemble the real pace, but I think tests really showed us some hints what was to come at the first race.

Toro Rosso is faster than Red Bull …
Kingshark (@kingshark)
15th March 2015, 7:00
I’m sure it’s just because of the engine.
Moryc
15th March 2015, 7:03
So Toro Rosso’s Renault engine is better than Red Bull’s Renault engine?
Tifoso1989 (@tifoso1989)

Installation isn’t the same and Newey’s extreme packaging doesn’t help in that aspect

Ferrari have achieved half the podiums they managed last year.
Todfod (@todfod)
15th March 2015, 7:01
Looks like pre season testing painted a pretty accurate picture of the pecking order. Mercedes in a league of their own … Mclaren the slowest team on the grid.. Ferrari, Williams and Red Bull fighting for best of the rest. I think RBR looked a little poorer than expected today, I’m sure they will be better in Malaysia.
Yoswarit Pookkanasut (@billyos)
15th March 2015, 7:13
I will go for Ferrari and Williams, then in a midfield, it will be Sauber vs Toro Rosso than McLaren and Force India. Shame that Lotus cannot show their promise today.
Also hope for Manor to comeback.
Palle (@palle)

And in a race where Ericsson ended in the points and actually made 2 good passes, he was listed on the final score board next to a Danish flag, hehe.
Lari (@lari)
15th March 2015, 8:07
What a superb job by Ferrari’s left rear tyre guys! Or was there some bolt/mechanical issue why they messed up 2 times (2nd time so bad that it ended the race) with Raikkonens car?

15th March 2015, 8:31
I kinda thought it was damaged we whoever it was crashed into him at the first corner

Merc were fatser on primes in qually. Also Merc were not even going flat out, they did it last year. You will see how fast they can go if we get a safety car like Bahrain and Singapore. Ham beat Alo as a rookie:). Also Alo is not more marketable than Hamilton forMerc i can guarantee that. Merc engine and Lewis is a marraige. You just read the Yahoo article the other day. Alo is in another wasted year, Ros would prbably start beating Alo in 2 years time, good luck with Alo being great 36 years old.

With a third place last year in GP2, even with money he’s much more a proven racer than Ericsson.

But Ericsson was the fastest when they both raced in GP2 together
