Slightly cooler weather for Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

2015 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix weather

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will see slightly cooler conditions than usual this weekend as the race is being held a week later than it was last season.

The race weekend normally sees peak daytime temperatures of around 30C, but that will be closer to 27C over Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

However what matters most to teams is the evening temperatures when the competitive action takes place. Sunday’s race starts at 5pm and sunset will fall around half an hour later.

The subsequent fall in track temperatures can cause complications for the teams which go beyond the ever-critical management of tyre temperatures. Optimising the engines, for example, becomes more difficult as the air pressure and the grip offered by the tyres changes. This can lead engineers to make major changes to engine map settings.

  1. This might be a Ferrari Weekend?
    The other 2 Night Races:
Bahrain: Raikkonen drove very well to 2nd, could have won had there been More Laps.
Singapore: Vettel dominated the entire weekend to take a commanding win.

Ferrari tend to be able to turn their tyres on quicker than Mercedes and also have better tyre management than the Mercs, so? i wonder what vettel can do?

Hopefully Vettel can really challenge the Mercedes, and we can have a great 3 way fight for the win.

Also never discount Kimi Raikkonen who probably manages his tyres better than either of the other 3.

this could be a very interesting weekend??
    your thoughts?

    1. Last year at Abu Dhabi Ferrari was nowhere but they should come back with a much stronger performance.

Red Bull performance should be reasonable and certainly better than last year where they started from the pits.

I hope Williams will show the same kind of form than last year, which could lead to interesting battles behind the Mercedes.

I expect Mercedes to put a crushing gap to their rivals though.

      1. Ferrari were nowhere everywhere last year. Need power here for some sections then aero and mechanical grip for tight twisty bits so a compromise. Always thought Merc dominate when there are contrasting parts to the track as they can run more wing for the twisty parts whilst maintaining an advantage in a straight line as well, Ferrari tend to have to make more of a compromise. I am expecting a Merc clean sweep but Rosberg has had to change engine and the one he is using has to be used Friday through to Sunday, by Sunday it is reported it will be above it’s projected life span so could be interesting there.
