Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg joined Mercedes’ end-of-year event as the team celebrated its successes in Formula One and the DTM.
The 2015 world champion was joined by Mercedes’ DTM champion and F1 reserve driver Pascal Wehrlein along with many of the manufacturer’ other drivers.
However in the competitive element of the event all three were beaten by another Mercedes pilot: DTM racer and 2012 European Formula Three champion Daniel Juncadella.
Hamilton lost to Wehrlein in the semi-final of the knockout tournament at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Stuttgart. Juncadella, who had already beaten Rosberg, then beat Wehrlein in the final.

Rosberg is second again to Lewis, that is all I retain from this article.

Do you happen to know why incidentally? I hadn’t heard of a ‘third place play-off’ and Rosberg lost to the eventual victor. All a bit of fun though of course ;)

I was present at the event yesterday, they announced that 3rd place was decided on fastest time in the semifinals. At least that’s what I understood.

3rd place in knockout format is silly in any case.

I wasn’t aware that Daniel Juncadella’s first name was actually Lewis…

Toto has already started try-outs to show Lewis and Nico what will happen if they keep misbehaving.

According to Jenson Button fans, this means that Juncadella is a better driver than Hamilton. Fact.

And on the same order that Lewis is a better driver than Rosberg. Fact.

What’s that got to do with anything? Is Lewis a loser because there is a 4xWDC on the grid…

You have to average it out over 3 years to get the real answer. Then rather than who wins the most years work out some other metric than when combined gives you the desired result of Lewis being the loser.

I think i know where your getting with this one. You mean the “outscored argument” right? I think you are totally correct. In a two car finish of 33 races, which totally eliminates DNFs and mechanical failures, Lewis outscored Jenson 545 points to 483. Or better yet Hamilton finished ahead 23 vs 10 times. That is more accurate is it not?

Think of it like this..: “Most points = champion/winner”. On that basis, over the 3 years together…Jenson won…

Except of course the championship has never been decided over 3 years therefore the winner = the person who beat their team mate over the most seasons. On that basis Hamilton wins because points are not accumulated from one season to the next and JB was beat in 2010 and 2012, 2 vs 1. That is how F1 works. That simple really.

I think it’s more petulant Hamilton fans cannot except that Button got more points in 3 years and that really matters. But then again, we saw at the end of this year that Hamilton wants to win the championship, he doesn’t care about races, so he probably doesn’t care about points. He’s not pushing to the max all the time. It’s either that, or he’s not as adaptable as Rosberg.

Looks like Juncadella did an Albuquerque there; never really thought much of him, but winning an event like this is still pretty impressive.
