Absolutely! Monaco, Indy 500, 24 Hours Nurburgring all in one weekend.
Here in the US NBC will broadcast Monaco practice and qualifying Friday and Saturday at 8:00 am and the race at 7:30 am Sunday.

i’m surprised channel 4 didn’t pick this one – monaco gets a lot of media coverage, especially in the build up. on the other hand it hasn’t produced many great races in recent years.

@frood19 I’m guessing, apart from Silverstone they don’t get a choice. They get what they’re given…

@frood19 @psynrg I’m sure I read somewhere that the BBC/Sky split used to work like picking sides in the playground at school – the BBC get a live pick, then Sky get an exclusive pick, then the BBC get a live pick, and so on and so on.
Presumably the first pick is the British GP then perhaps Sky choose Monaco next. If they went Monaco first they’d risk losing the British GP. I note the Beeb didn’t show Monaco live last year.

@graham228221 @frood19 @psynrg as I understand it, C4 choose 3 live races, then Sky choose 3 exclusives, then C4 choose another 3 live. If it were me I would go Silverstone, Monaco and just incase, Abu Dhabi. Strange C4 didn’t do this. Maybe they thought getting the first possible mid-afternoon race live was more important, to open their live coverage account perhaps.

It’s the one race I don’t care about only seeing highlights. Year after year of procession.

TBO,
Monaco sometimes produces sensations ( because of the narrow, constricted street
circuit ) but it also produces more processions than any other circuit I can think of.
And that is because it is a narrow, constricted street circuit. QED.
This is a great pity because, in it’s heyday, the cars were far less reliable than they
are today ( lightyears of difference really ) and you could be sure that catastrophes
would happen. All these things conspire to create boring processions…..

Great it’s on Sky. I can’t watch it. Fed up with streams dropping out so just won’t bother. I’ll looks at f1flive and watch the highlights later. Kind of sad.

Why is free practice 1 & 2 always on a Thursday in Monaco?
Ian Stephens (@ians)
26th May 2016, 0:13
The Monaco GP traditionally fitted around a religious holiday (Ascension Day) which fell on a Thursday. Ever since the Roman Catholic church moved the celebration of Ascension Day to the following Sunday the GP has been held on the weekend before the last Monday of May. This is the same as Memorial Day weekend in the USA (Indy 500) and the bank holiday weekend in the UK.

I sometimes read comments of people criticising this site as being UK biased, it is always then denied.
This article before every race proves it to be the truth.
I don’t have any problem with it, just seems strange every time I see it.

@cruzmsl It’s a UK website. Giving UK tv times and channels does not mean the website is biased at all.

Channel 4 is not the best showing of f1 apart from DC who is wasted.
