Lewis Hamilton gained 18 places during the Belgian Grand Prix but he wasn’t the only driver on the attack.

Fernando Alonso, the only driver to start behind Hamilton on the grid, brought his McLaren home seventh. Impressively the Honda-powered car had enough straight-line speed to keep the Mercedes-powered Williams pair behind.

The Safety Car and red flag early in the race was fortunate for Max Verstappen and the Ferrari drivers as all three had lost time following their first-corner tangle. Especially Kimi Raikkonen, who was almost three minutes behind at one point, but took points for ninth.
