Mercedes have withdrawn their appeal against Michael Schumacher’s penalty in the Monaco Grand Prix. However they described Schumacher’s penalty as “disproportionate” and said the FIA has agreed to discuss the terms of article 40.13 under which Schumacher was punished. Mark Webber repeated his domination of the Spanish Grand Prix at Monaco – but once again one driver stopped him from achieving a perfect result. This time his team mate was the spoiler – Sebastian Vettel beat Webber to the fastest lap of the race.
The Monaco Grand Prix was shaped by two important developments: the speed with which Fernando Alonso passed the slower cars, and McLaren reacting to it by pitting Lewis Hamilton.

Michael Schumacher has been stripped of his sixth-placed finish by the Monaco Grand Prix stewards, who handed him a 20-second penalty for overtaking Fernando Alonso at the final corner of the race. The result drops Schumacher from sixth place in the original standings to 12th and out of the points.
Mark Webber led every lap of the Monaco Grand Prix and led Red Bull to a one-two victory in the principality.
