Latest updates to the 2010 F1 driver list

109 comments on “2010 F1 drivers and teams”

  1. Is this still up to date?

    1. Campos Meta have signed Bruno Senna

      1. Toro Rosso have signed Sebastien Buemi.

        1. Mercedes GP (ex-Brawn) signed Nico Rosberg and Nick Heidfeld

  2. The page was created last week, so yes. Only three drivers confirmed for 2010 so far.

  3. Best start to clear an 11th space on the list. here’s hoping, anyway.

  4. 2010 could well be the polar opposite of 2009 in that we’ve had next to no driver moves this year, but next year we could easily see a big reshuffle in some of the big names.

I have to disagree with Keith’s assessment that Williams have let Rosberg down – in my opinion it’s the other way around. Nico always looked promising, but last year he was nowhere near convincing enough against Nakajima, throwing away a couple of critical scoring opportunities, whereas Nakajima dragged the car into the points on a couple of occasions that it should perhaps not have been there. If Rosberg does not improve in 2009 he may struggle to find a drive, as Williams will be compelled to keep Nakajima (or another Japanese driver) if they stick to their Toyota engine deal, and certainly young Hulkenberg looks promising for a race seat sometime soon.

  5. Hasn’t Vettel got a longer deal with Red Bull then?

  6. Got to agree with Paul that Vettel must be on a multi-year contract otherwise McLaren will snap him up in 2010. Then we’d find out how good Lewis is….

    1. I think we already know how good hamilton is. If he gets a decent car to drive, instead of a shed! i think the rest of the line up is unimportant because he’ll be the front runner anyway.

Will be good to see him race against Button thoe because he will probably be a better backup driver for Hamilton than Kovalainen

  7. you forgot Brawn Racing and USF1

    1. Neither are confirmed yet.

  8. Ross Brawn GP is now.

  9. Chris Reynolds
    7th March 2009, 4:32

USF1 has already been disbanded. WOW the new name US Grand Prix Engineering just rolls off the tongue ah? What the ?!@#$@ <– the dollar sign is for Bernie.

  10. USGPE AND 2 OTHER TEAMS ARE ALSO UNANNOUNCED.

  11. and what about Bourdais?

  12. this is not up to date coz it doesnt have the outher torro rosso driver and it doesnt have brawn g-p team

  13. this needs brawn gp and usgpe also the two that may come prodrive and hyundi

  14. Lola will be in next years season

  15. oh yea also that litespeed and lola. oh i almost forgot about isport!

  16. 7 new teams have submitted applications for the 2010 season. They are as follows:

    Campos
    Litespeed
    Lola
    March Racing Organisation
    Prodrive
    Superfund
    Team US F1

Its unlikely that all 7 teams will be granted entry to next season however with the grid being expanded to 26 slots, at least 3 of them will be there.

  17. ok…. i cant staY UP 2 DATE WITH everything….

  18. The 2010 entries, apart from the FOTA ones, are these:

    » AT&T WilliamsF1:
Toyota engine contract in place, alternatively with Cosworth
    » Campos Meta 1:
possibly running Dallara-designed car, likely with Cosworth engines
    » Prodrive:
allegedly with Aston Martin-badged customer Mercedes engines
    » Team US F1:
    Cosworth engines confirmed
    » Lola Grand Prix:
    Cosworth engines confirmed
    » Litespeed GP:
    with Mike Gascoyne
    » March Racing Organisation:
likely with Cosworth engines; perhaps a joint effort with N.Technology
    » Team Superfund:
with Alex Wurz; Cosworth engines confirmed
    » Epsilon Euskadi:
with Joan Villadelprat and Sergio Rinland; likely with Cosworth engines
    » Brabham:
backed by Franz Hilmer of Formtech, and possibly Colin Kolles; acquired the former Super Aguri base; no engine partner announced, but likely Cosworth
    » N.Technology:
likely with Cosworth engines; perhaps a joint effort with March

  19. yay its been updated ^_^

  20. I bet if one new team joins F1 alot of the others might follow

  21. It is going to be Dainca Patrick racing for Team USF1.

  22. isnt Lotus comin back 2 the f1??? im sure ive heard it on the tv??????

  23. i dont think so…. all the entrys have been submitted

  24. lotus was going to be the trading name of another of the teams (they apparently bought the rights) but they were not put on the shortlist of 2010 entries so…

SO EXCITED WE HAVE PROPER F1 BACK! GO AUSTRALIA 2010 WITH 26 CARS! WOOPEE!

  25. ok….. glocks got the 2010 contract

  26. This needs updating. BMW are out so sauber may also be unless they can find another engine provider. Massa is not racing again.

  27. no massa is not racing for the rest of the season or the next too

  28. Alonso is going to Ferrari. Having a 2010 contract doesn’t mean you are going to be racing for that team, it just means that team is going to have to pay you off.

Massa is staying at Ferrari if fit to race in 2010 otherwise they will keep Raikkonen.

If Raikkonen does leave Ferrari then he will probably go back to McLaren and replace Kovalianen.

  29. Lotus will go to Malaysia. It call 1Malaysia F1 Team.

    no lotus is lotus… -_-

    1. ehemmm…. lotus owned by malaysian which is proton… the team just use that name because of it is already a big name in f1… the team owned by malaysian company which is for sure was malaysian…… malaysia boleh!!!(malaysia can)

      1. Arshy_toyota fan
        18th October 2009, 13:20

Proton only bought a portion of the old lotus rnd and technology. and If you drive a Proton, you would know that it over steers all the time at any corner, when you try to take it in sport mode. So Proton owning Lotus is not the point, and BTW, the Lotus F1 team has nothing to do with Proton.

can anyone confirm if Timo has the contract for 2010. I hear Toyota is trying to get KIMI in their team. who gets out then…?

  31. I just have two questions, How up to date is this list? and is there really only 5 drivers with 2010 contracts?

  32. My take on 2010 line ups
    McLaren
    Hamilton + Raikkonen
    Ferrari
    Alonso + Massa
    Brawn GP
    Button + Rosberg
    Red Bull
    Webber + Vettel
    Renault
    Kovalainen + Kubica
    Toro Rosso
    Buemi + Alguersuari
    Williams
    Barrichello + Hulkenberg
    Force India
    Sutil + Liuzzi
    Toyota
    Glock + Trulli
    USF1
    Wurz + Summerton
    Manor
    Klien + Davidson
    Campos
    De La Rosa + Petrov
    Lotus
    Fauzy + Senna
    BMW Sauber (Qaudbak)?
    Heidfeld + Fisichella

  33. Its hard to predit the new teams, as they are not so heavily rumoured.

    Brawn
    Button+Rosberg

    Red Bull
    Webber+Vettel

    Mclaren
    Hamilton+Kubica

    Ferrari
    Alonso+Massa

    Toyota
    Trulli+Glock

    Williams
    Barrechello+Hulkemburg

    Renault
    Riakkonen+Grosjean

    Force India
    Sutil+Liuzzi

    Torro Rosso
    Buemi+Alguesuari

BMW Sauber(Or whatever they’ll be called)
    Heidfeld+Klien

Heres the rumours for the new teams…

    US F1
    *Jaques Villeneuve
    *Juan Pablo Montoya
    *Danica Patrick
    *Brendon Hartley
    *Scott Speed

My guess is that it will not be Villeneuve or Montoya, probably not Danica either. It may well end up being 2 drivers not mentioned above.

    Campos F1
    *Pedro De La Rosa
    *Jaime Alguesuari
    *Alex Wurz
    *Lucas Di Grassi

    I think:
    De la Rosa+Di Grassi

    Manor

I have actually heard nothing about this team. Litterally nothing, apart from their entry.

    Lotus

The same goes for Lotus unfortunately.

  34. Well Red Bull, Toro Rosso and Ferrari are certain.
    Redbull
    Vettel + Webber
    Toro Rosso
    Buemi + Alguersari
    Ferrari
    Alonso + Massa

The other teams have a few certainties but a lot of guesses here.
    McClaren
Hamilton (certain) + Raikkonen ( if not of to go compete in the rally championship)
    Williams
Hülkenberg (quite certain, really exciting!) + Barrichello (if Button and Brawn Gp can work things out)
    Brawn Gp
Button (almost certain) + Rosberg (rumour, could also go to McClaren but will leave Williams)
    BMW
Heidfeld + I have no idea
    Toyota
Glock (not certain but seems like it) + Anyone but Trulli, possibly Kovalainen.
    Renault
Grosjean (not certain but he doesn’t do bad) + Kubica (probably the announcement for next week).
    Force India
Sutil+Liuzzi (no idea about both of them but especially Sutil isn’t doing bad, although he does destroy a few cars more than he should)

The other teams and drivers: no idea.
Some drivers to take into account: Vitaly Petrov, Lucas Di Grassi (excellent Gp2 drivers), Neel Jani ( I think he was talking with one of the new teams, don’t hear much about him anymore), Andy Soucek (possibly Campos??).

senna is driving 4 campos now

  44. Barrecello has just been confirmed at williams.

  45. Kobayashi might be a Toyota driver soon!

  46. I hope to Kobayashi be Toyota’s race driver.

    1. I was impressed by him this season, He needs to settle down a touch, but think he could be one to watch.

  47. This is the 2010 F1 teams and Drivers

Brawn GP- Jenson Button and Nico Roseburg
McLaren Mercedes- Luis Hamilton and Kimi Raikkonen
Ferrari- Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa
BMW – Nick Heidfeld and Christie Klein
Renault F1 Team- Romain Grosjean and Robert Kubica
Toyota Racing- Jarno Trulli and Timo Glock
Toro Rosso- Sebastian Buimi and Jaime Alguersauri
Red Bull Racing- Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel
Williams-Cosworth- Rubens Barrichello and Nico Hülkenberg

Lotus- Giancarlo Fisichella and Heikki Kovalainen
Team USF1- Kazuki Nakajima and Nelson Piquet Jnr.
Manor Grand Prix- Pedro de la Rosa and Marc Gené

  48. Toyota officially announced that they withdraw from formula one with immediate effect. So Kobayashi have to wait or search for new team

  49. 2010 F1 Teams & Drivers Predictions:

    Brawn GP
    1. Button
    2. Rosberg

    Red Bull Racing
    3. Vettel
    4. Webber

    McLaren Mercedes
    5. Hamilton

    24. Trulli
    25. Kobayashi

    Qadbak Ferrari (Formally BMW Sauber)
    26. Heidfeld
    27. Klien

So there we go, I expect we’ll see a lot of the teams going for the experienced drivers as opposed to the rookies, given the lack of testing prior to the 2010 season. I think the least likely of those drivers to be correct is Villeneuve, but he is a World Champion and has a lot of experience so maybe he is worth a punt for one of the new teams…time will tell, what does everyone else think?

    1. Fisichella
is staying at Ferrari as a test driver.
personally i cant see kobayashi going to lotus as they apparently have a guy called, Fairuz Fauzy
Kobayashi to go to Compos instead of Pedro De La Rosa as he will stay at McLaren as a test driver
Agreed about Villeneuve would love to see him return though.

  50. Brawn GP
    1. Button
    2. Rosberg

    Red Bull Racing
    3. Vettel
    4. Webber

    McLaren Mercedes

    26. Heidfeld
    27. Klien

  51. Hate to break it to you guys but there will be no toyota in 2010. And my picks are:

    Brawn GP:
    Jenson Button
    Nico Rosberg

    Sebastien Vettel

    Luis Hamilton
Kimi Raikkonen (possible) or Pedro De La Rosa

    Scuderia Ferrari:
    Felipe Massa
    Fernando Alonso

  57. Sebastian Buemi is confirmed for 2010 at Toro Rosso as well.

  58. A new update on my predictions

Campos meta: de la rosa is unlikely to go petrov will take his place

Glock will go to manor instead of Renault meaning kovalienen will probably be there

Button may go to mclaren it’s 50-50

    That’s all

  59. Brawn gp? No mercedes gp but don’t worry they say their not looking for an all german line up so jensen you still got a chance

  62. This is awful news button at mclaren? This will mean jenson will get #1 seat? The only good aspect of this I can see is that it will now prove how much of a better driver lewis is than button.

    1. Completelt agree with you. Hamilton will run rings around button in the same car.

I Like Button, but have never really rated him as a supreme driver like Hamilton, Massa and Alonso. Think he is sure to be outclassed by the brilliant Hamilton. I think it’s good news for Hamilton thoe as Button will be a better backup driver for him than Kovalainen was.

    2. butten is much beta den lewis!!!

      1. ok We’ll see then.

  63. i can’t beleive that Kimi Raikkonen has left F1 to go and do rallying!

  67. sorry if im sounding stupid …. how do the driver numbers work for 2010 …. will button have number 1 on his car with hamilton as number 2 etc? i guess the answer is in the words ‘driver numbers’

or do brawn (mercedes) keep the 1 and 2? i am only confused because similarly the constructors winners always get the best slots in the pit lane as reward and i assume they will still hang on to that privelege

    Thanks

    1. car number stays with the drivers so Button no1 and hamilton no2
however the constructors slots on the pitlane will remain unaltered after the drivers deals are all finished with merc gp at no1 red bull 2 and mclaren 3

    1. Question…Kobayashi is good I know that but Nakajima? Not good enough to be in any of the new teams? Actually I was hoping for an all Japanese line-up at Toyota. But they pull out.

  73. isn’t a guy called lopez supposed to be driving for USF1 or something?

    1. Yes. And they said that if he gets enough sponsors in time he will get a drive.

      1. does anybody know if he is good?

  74. Trulli and Kovalienen for lotus
Apparently Kobayashi rejected lotus so he has almost certainly got a drive for next year

  75. Virgin announced 2 test drivers, recently. Alongside Álvaro Parente, there’s Brazilian Luiz Razia, full name Luiz Tadeu Razia Filho. He’s even on the team’s web site: http://www.virginracing.com/drivers/

come on we have de la rosa what a legend!

    1. It’s been speculated for some time – nothing official yet though: Jose Maria Lopez: out of single-seaters for three years but set for USF1 drive

  77. I really think, they’d start to put again that thirteen number after three years of bad luck in FOM…

  78. Finn Valtteri Bottas is named as test driver for Williams: http://www.williamsf1.com/news/view/1206

  79. I’m happy with the F1 teams this season as long as hamilton does well, besides i am a hamilton fan

  80. Has anyone actually noticed that there is supposedly 25 drivers, but have missed out the number 13?

    1. Yeah, that’s been happening for a very long time. It’s been many years since a driver had number 13. It’s about superstitions.

  81. In the great design of things you actually secure an A just for effort. Where you confused me personally ended up being in your specifics. As people say, the devil is in the details… And that couldn’t be more true here. Having said that, allow me inform you what exactly did give good results. The article (parts of it) is actually incredibly persuasive and this is most likely the reason why I am taking the effort to comment. I do not make it a regular habit of doing that. 2nd, while I can certainly notice the jumps in reason you make, I am not really confident of exactly how you appear to connect your ideas which make the actual final result. For right now I will subscribe to your issue however hope in the foreseeable future you actually link the dots much better.

  82. That was a formula not today.. :(
