If ever a championship ends with drivers with the same points and all the same positions (absolutely unlikely but), who would be champion? The one with most poles?

    1. Whoever scored their highest result first I believe

      1. Although there’s no actual rule for it, that would be the most sensible thing

    2. The one with most wins. However, if they have equal number of wins, I suppose it goes down to how many 2nd places they have.

      1. Um, please read the comment again >_>

with the same points and all the same positions

    3. ^ What Martin said.

If all positions are identical, then the time element is pretty much certified to be a tie-breaker.

      1. @phylyp another thing they could use is penalty points or reprimands. Maybe also the number of pole positions.

    4. You mean like in 2007 with Alonso and Hamilton?

Article 6 of the FIA F1 regulations states its decided on countback. Wins, 2nd places, 3rd places, all the way down to even Practice times if competitors have matched each other freakishly.

      They don’t “share” F1 championships.

Similar as well to how in Football, if teams are tied on points at the summit the title gets decided on goal difference, then head to head etc.

If two or more constructors or drivers finish the season with the same number of points, the higher place in the Championship (in either case) shall be awarded to :
      a) The holder of the greatest number of first places.
      b) If the number of first places is the same, the holder of the greatest number of second places.
      c) If the number of second places is the same, the holder of the greatest number of third places and so on until a winner emerges.
      d) If this procedure fails to produce a result, the FIA will nominate the winner according to such criteria as it thinks fit.

      1. Thanks. How bizarre though, you’d think in that highly unlikely scenario they would d) call it a tie!!

        1. I actually think maybe in that case they should call it a tie. Never mind the aggregated finishing times or quali positions or who won the first GP and whatnot. They are not really the kind of things that should be deciding for the championship if all else is equal. I mean some people claim the number of pole positions would be important, but you can also make a claim that the guy who started from further back maybe in a slower machine might be more worthy and whatnot then. I think it doesn’t make sense to make the championship depend on anything other than points and finishing positions in the races.

Kimi Sould be doing better, he needs to at least beat bottas.
I see Vet vs ham this season, hope seb renews his contract.

      Kimi Räikkönen- P5
      Valtteri Bottas- P6

I think Bottas lost out this time!

I think the comment was referring to Bottas leading Raikkonen on points

  3. Look at Sainz though. Impressive.

  4. I can’t see Alonso or Stroll in the table. Is it just me or are their names really missing?

    1. @pratyushp276 they’re not classified in the championship yet, because they are yet to have finished a race
