Super Aguri

Active years: 2006-2008

History

When Honda dropped Takuma Sato in 2005 it found itself facing a public backlash in Japan. So it took the unusual step of forming a new team – Super Aguri – to keep Sato in F1.

Despite being put together in a very brief time ahead of its inaugural year, and using four-year old cars to begin with, the team managed a respectable showing. In 2007 with ex-Honda cars it even scored points.

But the team wound up early in the 2008 season due to a lack of funds. The parent team followed them at the end of the year.
