How to get started on Twitter
You can get your free Twitter account at www.twitter.com. You can then follow the growing number of F1 drivers, teams and other personalities on Twitter.
If you’ve found a real F1 or other motor racing person or team on Twitter, please post details in the comments and I’ll add them to the list.
Are they real?
There are many fake F1 Twitter accounts. The ones that admit they are fakers are easy to spot and often very entertaining (like fakemarkwebber and fakemaxmosley).
But there are also some people pretending to run official accounts for drivers or teams. Here is a list of several prominent false identified in early 2012.
If you’ve found a real F1 or other motor racing person or team on Twitter, please post details in the comments and I’ll add them to the list.

You know the driver accounts that start with the word ‘fake’, they are… FAKE! They don’t pretend to be real and are often pretty funny.

Martin Whitmarsh seems to have started tweeting too, his photo is classic!

Hi here’s a driver you could add to your directory. 2003 Le Mans winner Guy Smith @GUYSMITH16 Now driving with Dyson Racing In the ALMS.
Steve_P83 said on 25th January 2010, 1:38
A few IRL teams and drivers you don’t have listed are on Twitter as well. I think you could actually make a seperate IRL listing because almost every driver on the grid uses Twitter…I’ll only post the most interesting ones though.

I think Holly Samos is on maternity leave, would explain the radio silence.

Felipe, told us in his on-line chat, at Ferrari, that he does not have a twitter account! :)
Keith Collantine (@keithcollantine) said on 8th February 2010, 8:31
Seems he’s not actually going to use the account that was set up for him, which is a pity. I’m taking it off the list, it hasn’t been updated by November:
http://twitter.com/Forza_Felipe
If he’s not actually using it, it shouldn’t be a “Verified” account really.
cholle said on 17th February 2010, 9:45
It was used, though, during the karting event last December. I think it’s actually his manager or brother who was posting on it.
Felipe could be making better use of it, really.

what about indian journalist Raja Sen at @rajasen? witty, powerful f1 commentary.. even though he mostly writes about films and other stuff, his #f1 tweets are the stuff of legend, especially when he livetweets a race.
Keith Collantine (@keithcollantine) said on 8th February 2010, 8:32
Interesting suggestion – I’ll follow him for a bit and then decide, don’t want to recommend him if he’s not doing much F1 stuff.
40_thieves said on 7th February 2010, 21:53
Hey Keith – I’ve set up a Twitter list, with most of the F1 related people above. You can subscribe to this so you don’t have to click through all of the links above, and still get all the tweets. Click here: http://twitter.com/#/list/40_thieves/f1
