    I was lucky enough to be at this race. I remember being somewhat astonished when we saw Senna leading on the second lap. We thought there must have been an almighty pile-up somewhere but one by one all of the cars came past and it started to sink in that he had, in fact, overtaken everyone.

    I too was lucky enough to be at the 1993 European Grand Prix, I was standing between Macleans and Coppice corner and the first lap by Aryton Senna to me is still the best first lap of a Grand Prix ever. I think Donington Park is a fantastic venue for Formula 1 cars and is certainly far better for spectators and drivers that flat and boring Silverstone.
    My memory of the race that sticks out the most was waving to Senna on his victory lap and at the time little did we know that in little over a year we would lose the greatest racing driver of all time.

  3. I was at this race from Friday to Sunday. Saw the action from various points around the track on practice days, mainly at the Craner Curves and Coppice.

    For the race, we had to sit in a designated grandstand opposite the pits and the view wasn’t great at all. Had it not been for the excitement of the race it would have been very poor value for money. Tickets were expensive, even by the standards of Silverstone in 2008.

    It was very muddy at the circuit and waterproof footwear was a must. The car park was also reduced to a bog by Sunday.

    Main highlights for me, however, were the race itself (obviously), seeing Senna playing games with Prost in qualifying (i.e. coming out to do a slow lap then going back in) and also seeing the drivers briefing taking place.
