Honda entered F1 with the RA27 in 1964 at the urging of engineer Yoshio Nakamura.

Inexperienced American driver Ronnie Bucknum piloted the team’s first entry at the German Grand Prix that year. But the company’s first attempt at an F1 car didn’t finish any of the three races it was entered for.
