Tobacco no-show?

With time running out until the imposition of new European Union rules governing the display of tobacco advertising in sporting events, BAR claim they have not received an adequate clarification of the law from the British government despite BAR boss Nick Fry insisting they had requested on, “several times.” They are afraid that British teams could be held responsible for the display of tobacco advertising being broadcast into British homes even if they do not run with tobacco branding themselves. FIA President Max Mosley and FOCA head Bernie Ecclestone have repeatedly lobbied against further international restrictions on tobacco advertising and threatened to pull F1 out of countries that enforces tobacco bans. Tobacco advertising was first banned from the 1984 British Grand Prix.
