F1 Fanatic - British Touring Car Championship
So round two takes place in much better weather conditions that the snowy opener at Brands Hatch three weeks ago. Andy Neate isn’t at Donington with his self-run Chevrolet Cruze and the third Motorbase NGTC Ford of Michael Caine doesn’t appear to have turned up as planned.
Gordon Shedden was quickest in the first practice session ahead of Matt Neal and then the two MGs of Sam Tordoff and Jason Plato. TOC was 13th, the Tony Gilham cars did a test at Silverstone the other day and the Volkswagen has been significantly updated.
My internet isn’t fast enough at the moment to watch on the qualifying stream on the ITV website so I watched the live timing. Qualifying stopped early so it’s Shedden on pole followed by Wrathall who had been quickest earlier on. Wrathall had displaced Jordan who is third ahead of Neal and Plato.
TOC ran in the top ten during the session but ended up 11th.
Fantastic effort from Frank! Hoping for a great weekend for him, he needs it after Brands!
Poor session from Rob Austin.. he said he went completely wrong on setup.. he’s not kidding!
So TOC, Collard, Mat Jackson, Aron Smith, Bratt, Austin and Foster are starting race one on the soft tyres.
Dan Welch not starting due to driveshaft issues
Great TOC v Collard battle. The soft tyres don’t seem to be having much of an effect it has to be said.
Wrathall, Goff, Cole and Welch are on the softs for race two.
Great quote from David Addision then.
‘An enormous laundry bill has been incurred in that Toyota’.
