    Okay, so the title of this thread sounds like the opening of a joke. And, to be totally honest, I’m not convinced that this isn’t a joke (in which case, the punchline is “And a high school teacher believes it all!”). But when I checked a local website this morning, I came up on this story: Alessandro Del Piero (who currently plays for Sydney FC) is looking to make this Le Mans debut in 2014 alongside Patrick Dempsey and Joe Foster, Dempsey Racing’s regular driver.

    Stranger things have happened, but I’m hard-pressed to think of any.

    Hmmm, I see they’ve updated the story since I posted it – Del Piero won’t actually race, but will instead run the team.

    That’s a shame, it would have been so cool to see if Del Piero would have been any good. However he is pretty old for a sportsman, so perhaps playing football and racing at the same time isn’t the best thing for him.
