    @matt90 Ah perfect! Thank you!

    This would have vexed me. Not as much as the “discoverable search” on the Win 8 start screen, but … yeah.

    @Hairs
    “I’m also confused about the lack of a linkback to the comment from the “activities/mentions” page. ”

    My one doesn’t even work. In other words, the mentions under “Activity” does not report (or link back) any replies for me (apart from when @ command is used it seems). Even though under the Notification settings “A member replies to an update or comment you’ve posted”, has been set to YES. I’d like to be able to know when a response or a reply is posted; why is this so difficult to implement?

    Btw, the feature “Mentions” should be renamed “Notifications”. Having many different words for a simple thing is not necessary..

    Some have already mentioned, I miss the ability to “follow” forum threads. Before I was able to add it to my “favourites” in the account settings and link an RSS feed to it in my Google reader, so I knew when there were new posts. Now, as I understand, I can’t do that anymore. Or am I missing something?

    @Maksutov

    “the mentions under “Activity” does not report (or link back) any replies for me (apart from when @ command is used it seems)”

    This is correct – it will only show @-messages to you, not any time someone has used the ‘reply’ button following one of your comments. This is because the threads beneath a comment can get very long and a ‘reply’ to your comment may not actually be directed at you.

    I suggest to optimize the page. Currently it contains so many different ads platform providers (Google’s doubleclick, Yahoo!’s yieldmanager, etc. These providers need to do something like ad exchange, cookie mapping) which causes the page loading time very long.

    Hi Keith.
    Not much I can think of quickly, but something that might help is when you post pictures of a weekend, have a more friendly way to scroll thru pictures.
    Instead of having to scroll down and go to the picture on the right or left. Perhaps some arrows by the main picture will work better.

    Thanks anyhow. Your job is fantastic, and F1 fanatics are always thankful about it.

    @Cole As I mentioned earlier in the thread, you can scroll through pictures once you’ve clicked on one of them. Perhaps this needs to be made more obvious

    Two small points that are almost bug reports. I’m a long-time reader but very occasional contributor, so I haven’t really involved myself in all the impressive new social network-style features.

    Firstly, when I’m reading an article, want to comment, and sign in, it takes me back to the site front-page. Could it not redirect me to the page I was on when I clicked the sign-in link? (The site exhibits the same behaviour when logging out, but that’s less of a problem in most instances).

    Secondly, when I tried to report the above on this thread using my Android phone (HTC Desire default browser), the “View non-mobile site” link just ended up reloading the same mobile site view.

    Cheers.

    @keithcollantine

    Ah ok, thanks for clarifying that. Is there a way then to make the “Reply” button associated under ones post, be linked to the username of that post. In other words, make the @username appear (or be written in) automatically following ones selection of the reply button. I think this would be better, because if people do not wish to reply to that user they can simply delete the @ and continue… its just a suggestion because it makes tracking of all replies possible and easier..

    @SiY Thanks, have noted both.

    @keithcollantine @Maksutov I was thinking that myself. I guess it is easy enough to check the username by hovering over their display name but it’s just one of them things that would polish it off nicely.

    Two things I think would improve the profiles on here:

    A bio section, perhaps with a character limit similar to Twitter’s, would be a bit of fun.

    A “post count” similar to that on the Autosport forums next to our names. Whether it’s just for forum posts, comments on the site, or both, it doesn’t matter, but I’ve often wondered how many comments I’ve left on the site over the years and I think it would be very, very interesting to see. Is there any way of counting comments from before this update was introduced? I have comments from back in 2009 and some people have them from as far back as when the site began that I’m sure they’d want counted towards the total. It’s just a thought and I believe it would be quite interesting. :)

    I still think a list of all subforums and/or a way to search specifically for those subforums is a good idea. I tried what Keith suggested, and while it works, I don’t think this idea would hurt.

    I’m also hoping we would get a button to take us to the most-recent post in a thread, or the first post added since our last visit. For example, this thread is four pages long. Clicking the link brings you to the first page of the discussion. You then have to sort through pages and pages tryig to find the place where you left the conversation. Being able to go directly to the most-recent post or the first post sicne you left the thread is a common feature on other forums, and one that will speed up the process of joining discussions easier.

    I am not sure if this is exactly what you have in mind @prisoner-monkeys, but try going to the group “home” pages and use the filtering box to select “forum replies” brings up the latest updates to forum topics in that group and you can go to them by clicking on the time stamp in each reply.
