Hi Keith. I was just curious, is it possible to create a feature like this; where you click to bring up a random article? Sometimes I get bored reading about current F1 matters and read some of the older articles. I thought it would be cool to have a randomization option.
That actually sounds like fun. Occasionally look back in the archives at random bits (was looking at 2008/09 testing pics the other day on here) and it is fun to look back on previous seasons etc
I’d like to see more F1 history, but I’m just an old fuddy duddy.
Yeah there was such a feature on the site once but no-one used it and in the interest of keeping homepage load time down it was removed.
You can navigate back through the entire F1 Fanatic archive from the home page and various other ways.
I used it, I thought it was fun to have look back in them times when you were bored. Instead of navigating back which takes forever; is there a way to read an article from say 2006 easily and quicker?
There’s two ways of doing it. The paged archives are linked from the home page and work like this:
https://www.racefans.net/page/2/
https://www.racefans.net/page/3/
etc…
Note that the content of these pages changes over time. The ten articles on the front page right now will be on page two when ten more articles have gone up.
Then there are dated archives by day, month and year. For example:
https://www.racefans.net/2012/
https://www.racefans.net/2012/11/
https://www.racefans.net/2012/11/25/
There isn’t really a structure for navigating these on the site at present – there should be, it’s just on the long list of things I haven’t done yet…
