@shaneb12345678910 – Only you got disconnected. But I think everyone will agree that only you really deserves that win, so I called a red flag. I’d also like to point out to anyone who thinks I did this to gain back my podium, that by handing Shane back the win, I’m actually losing 10 points to him, rather than gaining 12 for 4th.
Had a plan for a 1-stopper, and so wasn’t going to qualify. Then I saw the rain. YIPPEEE!
Then I saw it was meant to rain for the race as well. NUTS!
Anyway, I went out and wasn’t expecting much, so was shocked when I took provisional pole, especially seeing as I went very wide at the final corner, through the gravel, and nearly lost it.
Needless to say I improved on my laptime, but could never replicate that incredible lap I messed up in the final corner. While I wasn’t expecting anything from Quali, 5th was disappointing in the end, seeing as earlier I was in the fight for pole.
So, I got a good start, passing both Saubers and got up to 3rd. Then I saw @BROOKSY007 leave a gap up the inside. My mind went, ‘Leave it you idiot, you’ll only spin like you did twice in Japan’, but my thumb didn’t listen. I stuck the car up the inside of Brooksy, caught his rear wheel, and spun, falling to last. -.-
Had a fightback through the field, first picking off @abboracing and @alfie, who disconnected just after I passed him. I then caught @jamiefranklinf1 and @shyguy1992 who were squabbling. Jamie ran wide and let me through (cheers bud) and my and Shyguy pulled away. Then I began catching him (a new experience for me). On lap 8 he left a slight gap into the hairpin, so rather stupidly I went for it. The door closed, we touched, he spun, I got a penalty. BUGGER!
I carried on because I looked back and saw debris, and wasn’t going to wait if he had to pit for a new front wing, but then saw he was still in 5th, and catching. I was then promoted to second as Brooksy pitted, this shocked me so much I ran wide at turn 1, allowing Shyguy to close right up.
We stayed like that for a few laps until lap 17, when he was just 0.347 behind at the line, so I went wide into turn 1 and slowed to let him through, feeling bad for spinning him earlier on.
Then it kicked off, on Lap 20, Shane led from Shyguy, me, Brooksy, Jamie and whoever was next haha.
On Lap 21 I got what felt like a tap from behind into the final hairpin (which was wierd seeing as Brooksy was over 11 second behind me :S), spun and only had a 1.3 second lead over Brooksy for the final lap.
Then coming into turn 5? (tight right hander just after the end of the first sector) I knew Brooksy was fairly close but not that close, so I moved to cover the inside, only to find myself sideways into the corner, and Brooksy pulling away. Ah.. was I hit? Or was it LAG? I’m thinking LAG. DAMN!
Then I became third as Shane got disconnected, it was chaos, and I think you’ll all agree that only Shane deserves that win.
So I’m giving it to him, well done buddy! :)
