Alfie’s win today was marred by the death of Bradley’s patience.

Qualifying: Took to the track early, and broke my front wing. Came back in, did a few laps to go 3rd, then Brooksy shows up and sets a lap 2 seconds faster than anyone else. 4th on the grid myself.

Race: Passed Shane at the start, nearly got past Brooksy but he shoved me out of the way, nearly got past at the entrance to the straight but got a poor exit, then I saw Brooksy shove Bradley off. Now leading the race, Shane nearly got past, I may have hit him with my gearbox, I dunno. I had a hard time keeping Shane behind but I did so for 9 laps until he hit the Bridge, which was a godsend, meaning he wouldn’t be able to undercut me. So I drove sensibly, did my pit-stop, saw abbmacher facing the wrong way at one point before he crashed and came out a few seconds ahead of Shane and David. With Shane out of reach and 2 laps of fuel in reserve it was easy enough to just drive the race, and take the win. Set the fastest lap on the final lap for a few seconds then Shane went 4 tenths faster.

My driver of the day is Shane.

I never took anyone off!! I got ahead of bradley going down the straight and as I braked for the turn I got whacked from behind, spinning at high speed into the barriers! Puncture and loss of wing!! I believe it was bradley error as I had passed him and pulled back onto the racing line about 300 meters before the braking point!

That was the end of my race, not to mention 2 more punctures during the race, the second one happened just before the corner where I dnf’ed!

very disappointed with these incidents today! Not happy to say the least!

    Qualifying: 2nd
Splashed around to a poor first lap, which put me 3rd?
I then went out again, and was stunned to see that my lap was purple by 1.1 seconds through sector two. I was so nervous that I was uber-cautious in the final sector, losing 4 tenths but still nabbing pole! :D
Then @BROOKSY007 smashed my time by nearly 2 seconds, and I couldn’t improve. Joy short-lived. But still ecstatic with second, considering my previous highest Qualifying had been 4th.

    Race: 4th
    Where to start…?
Well, at the start I suppose. Got a great one compared to Brooksy’s awful start and was cautious into turn 1 so as not to hit him, just in case he decided to fling one around the outside. Was again cautious through turn 2, 3 and 4, and Brooksy got a run down the straight.
Then he moved to the inside, so I covered (as is my right).
The next thing I know, i’m being piled into the barriers?!
    What the HELL MAN?!
I’m normally the first one to put incidents down to LAG, but right now, I’ve had enough.
This is second time in 2 races that I’ve been taken out by you dude. You’re not normally like this, but I can’t keep putting it down to LAG? What’s going on?!
I then had to limp back to the bloody pits with a rear puncture and no front wing.
Pitted, came out, 40 odd seconds behind anyone (bar Brooksy).
Caught @abboracing, and then he retired. Brooksy retired. Then I was 40 seconds behind @david-a with 14 laps to go.
    Game on.
Was catching at around 3 seconds a lap, and then he made a mistake, then another, and I was with him (lap 19ish?)
Then he went into the wall at the Singapore Sling.
    WooHooo!
Then I realised it had distracted me, and followed him in, giving me a broken front wing and a front puncture.
    D’oh!
We both limped back to the pits, and I was ahead by 5 seconds. Then on lap 22, I spun in frustration exiting turn 5, broke the wing and got another puncture.
Great, any chance of a podium gone.
If there’d been a safety car, I’d have had a real chance, but there wasn’t, and seeing as I was wiped out on the first lap, I didn’t.
I kept praying but it never appeared.
    I should have paid someone….
    ‘Oh Nelson…..’

    Quali: 3rd
I was nowhere near @bradley13 and @BROOKSY007 in quali and they were something like 2-3 seconds faster than me. Fantastic laps by both of you especially Brooksy.

    Race: 2nd
Got a good start and pulled along side brooksy to his right but there was no space as I was on the green artificial grass and I had to pull out of it. Surprised I didnt lose more places but @alfie got by me and I was in 4th. Then coming up to turn 5 after the straight Bradley and Brooksy collided which meant I was up to 2nd. I didnt see the incident but Im sure it was lag as both of you have different stories to where you both were on track. Me and alfie then had a good battle for the lead but it was difficult to overtake. It was very hard to see with all the spray so I misjudged the braking at some times. Down into turn 1 I made contact with him but we didnt spin and that was completely my fault so Im sorry for that. Again the spray made me lose the braking point. I was within a second of him for the first several laps and my engine was really overheating so I had to switch to lean and change gear at lower revs. At one point I got in his slipstream and tried to out brake him into turn 5 but he broke even later and went wide. I thought I would be up to first but he came back and got the inside line into the next corner so he remained in first. Thanks for giving me space alfie and not being too agressive. I knew that I would possibly be able to do the undercut when he pitted but that idea was ruined when I clipped the wall at the first apex under the bridge and then went straight on into the wall and lost my front wing. When I came out I was still in 2nd with the guy behind 40 or so seconds back. When Alfie pitted he came out 4 seconds in frot of me. I tried desperately to close the gap but it was very tough. I had 3+ laps of fuel but when I turned up the engine to rich I felt the car was really unstable. In the end I finished just under 2 seconds behind him. Well done alfie that was a great drive and you didnt make any mistakes under pressure. Driver of the day for sure. As always thanks everyone for the race and I’m happy to get some good points.

You reckon you’ve had enough bradley!!!??? Don’t get me started mate, just look at my season so far!! How many races can I be taken out by people – just because u refused to realise the lag issue at play! I’ve had enough of it! And now you’re blaming me for the incident last race – where u said it was lag, get off it!!
I cleanly passed u and was ahead, I was back on the racing line well before the braking zone and bam!

Most leagues have had to adopt a collisions off policy till f12012 is released – coz it doesn’t work – got it!!

  • Profile picture of Bradley Downton Bradley Downton said 9 months ago:

I never refused to realise it! I always put it down to LAG!!
I’m not blaming you, I’m saying it’s weird that in the last two races, we’ve had two incident’s where I’ve been ahead of you, you’ve hit me, and I’ve come off behind!
No way did you pass me, @alfie said after the race he saw exactly what I did.
I don’t work like that I’m afraid, if you don’t like it, don’t race until we start using 2012!

    *Calm Head*
I don’t want that however, because you have been a member of this league since the beginning. You are also one of the only people who consistently turns up, and it would be a shame to lose that, and well done on your Quali lap, that was mega.

First of all, congrats on your win today Alfie, and if you’re staying here, then I’m really looking forward to racing you again!

I think everyone needs to take a breath and calm down. I know it’s a horrible feeling to be taken out, or to have your race ruined by something that you feel was out of your control, but I don’t think it’s the time to make rash comments and have a go at each other, when for the most part, we have a good time.

I definitely don’t want to get all condescending and telling everyone ‘it’s just a game’ blah blah, because I know exactly how you both feel, and even with being told to be careful, it’s not always easy in the heat of the moment. However, we can learn from this, and with Monaco coming up, we’re just going to have to take note of what has happened and try to fix it. We know that some people have lag problems: For example, I know that with Brooksy, I have to be careful, because he’s usually a bit jumpy on my screen. It’s not always easy to anticipate where he’ll be on the track, but braking early is always a good move, especially when you’re in the slip stream.

Also, we only have 2 more races until 2012 comes around, so I think we can try to have some fun and forget these kinds of problems. It might be a little difficult to do that in Monaco, given the nature of the track, but with some careful driving, who knows, we might get a miracle xD

    Gracias Jamie :)

If the opportunity comes around again, I’d rather not race in Monaco, mind. The track is lovely but the risk of me bashing someone is very high.

doubt i’ll be able to make it, my ps3 is still playing up and i have to take my sister to football in MK before i go racing there

  • Profile picture of RoboCAT RoboCAT said 8 months, 1 week ago:

The reason I have been unable to make the last many races is due to my online connection. Every single time I turn on F1 2011 it just signs me out of PSN. I have no idea why and unitil it can be fixed I can’t race. :(
