Just been practicing at Monza, I managed a 1:17.684 in the McLaren. I think I can still get a bit more time out of the 2nd sector though, and I’ll have a go in the Sauber later to see how it compares :)

@RagingInferno – Looks like it’ll be close again, I just managed a 1:17.8xx in the McLaren as well. I think that’s the best I’m going to get if I’m honest. I might be able to improve my time slightly, but I think the setup for that won’t get any better.

I’m slightly concerned that it’s going to be chaos at the first corner, since it is a wide high speed straight into a very narrow 1st gear chicane :S Also what are everyones feelings on what is acceptable when it comes to corner cutting, as there is a lot of run off that can be used in the last sector to vastly improve your laptime (I did that to get my time trial lap, but I won’t do it at the race if we decide that it’s not cool).

I think the only run off that is acceptable is the green part when you’re entering ascari. That’s the only cutting I really do, mainly because the game doesn’t give you a warning, so it must be acceptable :P

As for any other run off, I think it has always been outlawed.

@RagingInferno – No problem :). It’s funny, my quickest sector seems to be sector 2. I can’t get a hang of the chicanes at the moment :P

As for run-off, I might start using that green bit at Ascari as Jamie is right in saying there is no warning. But what about that little bit of green stuff after exiting Ascari? Schumacher seemed to like using it.

@Alfie – I presume you mean the inside part? If you can get away with it, then by all means, try and use it. I find it puts my car off balance too much, because it’s so bumpy. Anyway, by run-offs, it usually means on the outside, where you run on to an area that is marked (usually) by a white line.

@alfie yeah, you have to be careful not to get greedy on the exit or you end up loosing a LOT of time in the gravel!

@jamiefranklinf1 maybe you should make your set-up a bit less stiff, as I haven’t had that problem. Though I’ve noticed that my car can get a pretty twitchy if I push too much, so mine still isn’t perfect.

@RagingInferno – Maybe, but I’m pretty happy with how it is, as it allows me to push hard, and be consistent as well. I just managed to post a 1:18.838 in a qualifying session in Grand Prix mode with the McLaren, and considering that GP Mode and Online are a lot slower than Time Trial, I’m pretty happy with that time :)

26.600, 25.758, 25.524 are my sector times that combine to make my 1:17.882 in time trial. What are your sector times like?

I really feel like I’m going to come 3rd this weekend xD
