Qualifying:
A few attempts in quali, but ended up 4th. Not much to say about it really. I knew I wouldn’t be very quick, and the video will show it better.
Race:
Safety car restart for Asanator, though he disconnected again, so it was all in vein :P. Alfie spun ahead of me at the restart, and I was lucky not to damage anything. It was a bit of an iffy start to the lap for me, but eventually I was all by myself, 4-5 seconds down from @Moss-611 and @Afroholic. On lap 4, Moussa had made a mistake, and I was right up with him. I was able to keep up for a few laps, but then turned the fuel mix down to save the tyres, as I’d be going to lap 17.
However, @Brooksy007 brought out the SC on lap…11? I stayed out, and took the lead. It pitted at the end of lap 13, giving me 4 laps on old options, fending off Ahmed on fresh primes. I was really starting to struggle, but with a little bit of defensive driving, I could hold him off. Until the end of lap 14, when I was hit up the back, and broke a little bit of my front wing. @Alfie then took second, and was the one chasing me down, which didn’t take long. He was right up with me by the end of lap 15, and I had planned on letting him through, since it wasn’t really him I was fighting (Playing the strategic game). However, into the first corner, he made a mistake, spun across the track and hit me, allowing Ahmed and Moussa through…
On lap 17, I came in to pit for primes, coming out in 4th, behind my team mate for the race @Sirspuddington. On lap 19, I was right behind him, and was praying he’d let me through, which he did. Either that, or he made a mistake and went very wide. I was a fair way from the leaders, but I was sure they’d have to pit again.
On lap 20, the SC came out again, and again I didn’t pit, there wasn’t really much point. I turned up the fuel mix to see if I could came out in front of Moussa, who had pitted, but alas I was too far away.
It came in again at the end of lap 22, and with Ahmed right behind me on fresh options, I had planned on letting him through at the beginning of the next lap into the first corner. Instead, he hit me halfway through that lap, putting me down to last. He let me through, but the damage was done, and he eventually got through anyway.
Alfie pitted at the end of lap 27, giving me 4th, as I continued to chase @Abboracing, who then made a mistake on lap 28, giving me 3rd. Alfie eventually caught and passed me as well, and I didn’t put up much of a fight. Though it was quite funny as I braked early to let him through coming out of the tunnel. He was a fair way away, but still didn’t see me and ploughed into the back of me. Neither of us seemed damaged, but it was still a little odd.
Lap 31, Ahmed either came out of the pits, or had made a mistake, I overtook him, but he nearly squeezed me into the wall, which seemed a little aggressive. He proceeded to crash behind me a few corners later.
Coming out of the tunnel, I got the message of another SC, and decided to pit for options this time. Alfie and Moussa didn’t follow suit. Though Moussa did a lap later, when the field was bunched up…
It came in on lap 33, and I was chasing Alfie, hoping that Moussa would get stuck behind the Red Bull. At this point, I was ready to settle for second, as I didn’t want to do anything stupid that would jeopardise gaining points on Moussa.
I was very close to Alfie at the end of lap 36, and there was a chance to get passed, though I found it to be too risky, braked early and instead of carrying on in second place, Alfie hit the wall again, spun out and spun me :(
Back to last. I chased down George and got passed him on the final straight, though he squeezed me against the wall. Alfie got some penalties, which then meant Moussa won and I came second. Definitely could have been a better race, given that with 2 laps to go, I was in front of Moussa, which is all that mattered to me, but oh well.
Down to 4 points between Moussa and myself with 3 races left. Could be close…
My video will be up, when @Olliekart gives me the channel details :)
Final result
1. Moussa Awada
2. Jamie Franklin
3. George Angus
4. Alfie Widger
Not sure who completed 75% distance, so we’ll go over the videos and see who gets points after that.
