@jamiefranklinf1 What are we doing about restarts this time as it was a bit of a shambles last time?

  • Profile picture of Oli Peacock Oli Peacock said 3 months ago:

Ive spoken to @tayzz94 and she will be here :)

@olliekart cool looks like a big grid for tomorrow
@jamiefranklinf1 I grew with @formula-1 we need a defined restart line beforehand we need rules regarding damaged cars too, (broken front wings) and if it’s meant to be a safety car lap then everyone needs to be going slowly so the pack stays together, would appreciate it if it was cars with no front wing don’t hold people up just so you can pit just let them through but because everyone should be going slow all that will happen is you won’t get in the way at a restart effectively reducing the chance of another accident

We had a Safety Car start in one of my leagues and these were the rules:

    Everyone gets into order
    No One passes 100mph
    No Weaving
The race starts exiting the last braking point
Any broken front wings drive straight into the pits
    Do another lap

I agree with a lot of what you’ve said, but the last SC start was a little bit of an anomaly, compared to the rest of the good starts we’ve had. I’ll also mention this: How are the leader supposed to know if a car towards the back has broken his front wing and needs to pit?

  • Profile picture of sozavele sozavele said 3 months ago:

That’s the problem…all I can think is when the car is in the pit they mention it in the chatroom, hopefully people would see it then they could get back in order and possibly slow down, I don’t think it helped last time as it was Brazil as it is always quite chaotic there, in Montreal there is plenty of run off isn’t there.

To be honest I don’t think we need to worry about it too much given that this is the first time there has been any major problems. I think the “not exceeding 100mph” that @olliekart mentioned could be a good idea however.

Yes, there should definitely be a speed limit in case of a restart, but anyway, I have a good feeling there won’t be any need for a restart (fingers crossed)!

I would have thought most of what ollie said would be common sense :L

I’m not all for the no weaving, everyone has cold tyres but the 100 mph limit would work

Also we need to organise an overtaking line, I think that it should be the way @olliekart mentioned

  • Profile picture of JamieFranklinF1 JamieFranklinF1 said 3 months ago:

I say that it should be the start/finish line, at least then it is clear-cut as to where the line actually is, and I believe it has always been the start/finish line in the past.

@jamiefranklinf1 fair enough, and I didn’t know that sorry
