Kaz Armos Signs with Mercedes AMG
It has now been confirmed that Kaz Armos has signed with Mercedes AMG despite having previously entered a sabbatical year. A message on his official website says, ‘ I can now confirm I will be driving for Mercedes this year, I would like to thank Red Bull for the experience gained in F2 last year ‘. One of the factors which is rumoured to have lured Armos to Mercedes is their ever expanding technical department.
When Armos was asked whether he had any contracts offered other than Mercedes, ‘ Yes I did have other contracts, after a pretty mediocre F2 last year I was surprised, I had the opportunity to sign with Lotus, Ferrari or Mercedes. Eventually I chose Mercedes, I thought it would be interesting to see the development of the car and see the car become more competitive.’
Mercedes are not expected to produce a car capable of winning races throughout the first 2/3 of the season but expect a massive improvement within the last third with the new car.
This news comes days after Armos received a mass cash injection from sponsors.
