Franklin praises Mercedes turn-around
Despite a team change, Jamie Franklin returned to the top step of the podium for the first time this season, this time under the Silver Arrows. The duo of Franklin and Downton succeeded in claiming Mercedes’ first front-row lockout, over half a second in front of third place man, Dylan.
“I have to sincerely thank the team. They have provided me with a very well balanced car and that could be seen by my pole lap. In the race, things were a little bit more tricky, but my love of Malaysia combined with a car that enabled me to push when I wanted it to was simply fantastic. To be able to get a win on my debut with the team, or at least since 2010 feels phenomenal, and with Bradley alongside me on the podium, it was…there are no words. I definitely feel that this car is capable of a fight to the title, and I will be doing my best to ensure that I don’t disappoint the team after giving me this incredible opportunity,”
