@olliekart i highly doubt that. You are insanely fast, winning pretty much every race in the gp2 RD league. Jf-f1 is also very good. Even if its just 0.5 secs every session that is enough to win a champ comfortably

@sato113 that’s assuming oli makes it to every race, and nails every single lap all the way through more or less. Strange things can happen on F1 2012, so don’t write off anything before it starts. Odds are that someone will be able to match oli, if not then he still hasn’t got the victory. “To finish first, fist you must finish” As they say. Besides that, it is a good idea but I don’t think people should be forced to go with other players they don’t want to. And it still won’t necessarily balance things up. There’s a lot of factors to take into account for just about everything, all the time.

ok 0.5 was maybe underestimating it but my point remains the same that behind the top 2/3 there are about 6 or 7 drivers that pretty much fight for the same position each week. I also dont think teaming up with a novice will help considering that everyone who has signed up so far i would say has the pace for midfield

BREAKING NEWS: DOWNTON CONFIRMS WILLIAMS MOVE
Bradley Downton has tonight confirmed he will leave Lotus and join Williams, in a move that has caused a lot of head scratching around the paddock. It is no secret Downton is closely associated with the Lotus name and has a certain fondness for the brand as well, and having been with the team for so long it’s a surprise to see him move on.

I felt it was time for a change. Lotus have been fantastic to me, producing a constantly quick car and treating me fantastically as driver, and I will always hold them very dear, but I felt it was time to move on, take on a different challenge. Williams have struggled a lot lately but their ideas for the new season look mightily impressive, and I’m hoping the car can finally take me to that illusive first win. They’ve also promised a driver coach, though are yet to unveil him to me, but say he is someone I know. I can’t wait to find out and I think a driver coach will be a fantastic idea. My race craft has generally let me down so this is very important. They’ve also promised more testing than I ever had at Lotus so hopefully I will be more knowledgeable of the tracks rather than just jumping into Qualifying.

Another reason for Downton’s move could well be Ayrton Senna. It’s a known fact he was Downton’s inspiration and Downton insisted he would drive for every team Ayrton did. He’s currently done McLaren and Lotus, so the obvious next step is Williams.

This move leaves Lotus without a key driver and with Franklin’s future at the team also in doubt they could find themselves requiring the services of two new men come the new season.

Shortly after confirming Bradley Downton at Williams, the team principal made an official announcement to say that Jamie Franklin would partner Downton at the British team. Having been in poor form of late, it is a little bit of a risky move from both drivers, but Jamie Franklin seemed particularly upbeat on the matter.

“As Bradley said before, it was definitely time for a change. Lotus were a great team, and I can’t thank them enough for the success that they brought me over the winter, but I needed a new environment. I had an offer from McLaren, which I considered thoroughly, as they are a fantastic team, but I had to respectfully decline when I started negotiations with Williams. The pay was nowhere near as good, but that isn’t what matters to me. Firstly, what I saw was that everyone at the factory was highly motivated for the new season. Then, when I took a look at the contract, I just couldn’t say no. Though Bradley didn’t know at the time, Williams wanted to employ me not only as a driver, but also as a coach. Bradley is a fantastic driver, and it’s been great working with him in the past seasons, but there have been holes in his game, which the team and I will work to close up. We want the team to be the best on the grid. We will be working hard prior to the new season beginning and if the car is as good as the team seem to think, then we can bring glory back to Williams.”

Though the pairing is very familiar to fans of the sport, it could be exciting to see them tackle a new challenge in the shape of the Williams. Will they be able to take home the titles?…Who knows, but it will be very interesting.
