Quali – 2nd
Not too bad considering it was primes. Couldn’t match Oli at all.
Race – 2nd (Pending)
Got an okay start, but not as good as Oli’s (The theme of the weekend), David sort of overshot the first corner, and slammed into the side of me, almost sending me into the wall, but thanks to some quick reactions and braking I just about held it, and somehow got my first penalty.
Discovered ten laps in that the primes weren’t holding up as well as I had remember. I swear I was on for a one stop in the CC, but this was looking like a three stopper at this rate. Saved by a safety car on lap 13/14, I was able to pit for options, albeit losing out to Shane but it was worth it.
I was near the back, lining up being Sprocket at the restart, but he spun at the final corner, blocking me off and allowing @Sato113 and @Pezlo2013 through. Sprocket then allows both of them to lap him, but swerves at me, which made me incur another penalty.
Dylan was a bit all over the place, thanks to the lag, which made him very difficult to pass. I hit him after the tunnel, even though it didn’t look like I was anywhere near him, but decided to let him back through, eventually getting the move done elsewhere.
I set about catching Shane, whom didn’t put up much of a fight due to his strategy, which lead me to Theo. We had a great tussle, and I knew I was quicker at this stage, but not enough to get by. He pitted on lap 26, which gave me the opportunity to try and get the jump on this lap. However, I made a mistake, and he came out a second ahead the next lap.
With him on options, and me on my second set of primes, I was ready to battle it out to the end, hoping my primes lasting longer would give me the edge. Instead, Theo spun it at turn 1, gifting me second…before the final safety car.
Caught up to the SC, but was told to pass it, allowing me to get a lap’s advantage on 4th place, guaranteeing me a podium, and Shane looked like he was still on a one-stopper, so I didn’t see a huge threat there, if that were the case.
Made a couple of small errors in the closing laps, but again, Oli was too quick.
Fun race :P
