F1F Abu Dhabi GP Rcae Report (Season Finale)
Championship Position: 4th
Qualifying: 5th
Quali was poor. Having never raced this circuit i took my teammates setup. In the end I was only 2 seconds shy of pole, not bad for a first attempt I suppose.

Race: 3rd
Got a fantastic start from 5th and was up into 3rd early on. Far across on the right hand side of the track I started drifitng ever so slightly left to take the line into the first corner and suddenly found myself facing the other way. I wish i’d recorded this and as of the winter series i may be able to :P. It was Brooksy alongside me and so i assumed it was him but in the end i finished a long way behind him and it really didnt make a difference to my race anyway, so you got lucky John ;).

From there I was 4 secs behind anyone but on lap 3 f199 and ed came together at turn 8 & 9 chicane after the long straight. I missed my braking point, (distracted by f199 spinning), and missed the corner, i tried to not pass f199 off the track but got a penalty anyway, so i rejoined and then passed him properly. For the next 3 laps I held him behind but on Lap 6 he closed right up and we spent nearly the whole lap side-by-side. I really enjoyed this battle and thought it was as clean as could be, apart from one moment at turn 2 when i had come from the outside of turn 1 and lost the backend of my car on worn tyres and accidently tapped him wide (sorry mate, didnt mean to). After that he spun on his own and i pitted. When I left the pits he was just behind me and smashed right into a wall, ending his race and bringing out a safety car. At some point during these laps Ed and Oli came together at the turn 8 & 9 chicane.

From there i closed up to the back of Oli and waited for the safety car to pit, which it did 3 laps later. I lost time at the restart because I was so much slower than the others and Oli passed Ed. Once DRS was ativated again Ed tried to repass Oli into the turn 8 & 9 chicane and they collided (again) but this time Oli went off and stalled the car, thus retiring and promting me to 3rd. I stayed there for the rest of the race and enjoyed the fantastic battle between Ed and Brooksy.

I was stoked to get my first ever podium and at the final race as well was very special, a great way to end my season :D.

I was dissapointed to miss out on the final race. I had guests over. When they finally left it was 10 minutes late for the quali to begin. So pretty fustrated to miss the final race; one I had been practicing a lot at.

I’m really looking forward for the winter championship to start. I’m quite pumped for it. I just hope the wait is not to long. It would be amazing if it could start within the next two week’s atleast ;)

thanks guys for the messages after the race, it was a nail bitter at the end!! I can’t believe it!!

quali- set a good time on primes and was .05 secs off the front 2, but i think they were on options. had a moment during quali where my wheel lost power- sorry if i got in any1s way!

RACE- got off the line well and was inbetween ed and olli for t1, ed was on the inside being cautious and olli went very wide off track. bradley, i dont think it was me m8 that spun u, i dont recall any tap or jolt with my car, as i was passing between ed & olli. if i did and it was lag, my apologies. I didnt even know u had spun. built up a solid lead as ed, olli and f199 fought it out and was able to run on lean mix. i was really unsure about strategy as i was expecting a 50% race, so played it safe w fuel. SC came out and i went into the pits w ed right on my tail! Controlled the restart well and gained some time. last 5 laps ed and i had an amazing battle! It was wheel 2 wheel and very tight. i made a mistake w my setup being too low as once ed was infront off me i missed some turn-in and braking points and my floor grinded the curbs, it was almost uncontrollable!! we crossed the line nose to tail ed leading!! then i see he had a 30sec penalty and i was promoted to 1st!!

been a hard season, racing against tough competition! looking forward to next season, have a good xmas and happy new year guys!!

Ollie, you were using all of the run-offs to your advantage, something which was explicitly forbidden on the previous page. Furthermore, in our incidents, you gave me absolutely no room – just turned into me. As for the incident on Lap 1 or 2, you made your move far too late, I was already committed to the corner when you made the dive – I can tell this from the proximity indicator. I could do nothing. Maybe there was some lag, so I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt…

@bradley13 – I never saw F199 in the race, and certainly never collided with him…

As for my race, qualifying was good, it would’ve been nice to get pole, but didn’t quite put together a perfect lap. Was cautious into Turn 1, and passed Ollie who went wide. Brooksy swept around me to take the lead. After that, it was a status quo for the first stint, apart from an incident with Ollie (as described earlier) that cost me about 3 seconds. I caught Brooksy and was right on his gearbox when the SC came out.

I went for Primes again at the SC, but then got a terrible restart, and had to defend from Ollie. He barged me out of the way at the Turn 11/12/13 chicane and I had a half-spin, dropping me to 4th. I re-passed Bradley at the last corner. Then, I caught Ollie again as his tyres were very worn. Every time I made a move, he turned in, which became very difficult. At one point, I made a move into Turn 8, we were alongside and he just cut Turn 9 and stayed ahead… Then there was some lag, with him showing as spinning, and then suddenly re-appearing in front of me. He turned in again one lap, and somehow retired. This gave me a penalty which frustrated me greatly.

After that, I was quite far behind Brooksy, so was pushing hard. Unfortunately, I pushed a little too hard, and cut a couple of corners, just by a couple of inches, so got penalised. When I put the option tyres on for my final stint, I caught him with a few laps to go. I passed him, and managed to just stay ahead until the end. It was a good battle, as we each were very fair and gave each other plenty of room.

Yeah, that’s right, no gain from dwelling over it, it’s better to move on – it’s only a game after all.

Hi guys,

Would just like to apologise for my lack of racing and communication. I’ve had severe Internet issues over the past couple of months and my PS3 has also decided it isn’t friends with the net anymore, as you can see by the last time it signed in. Anyway, I hope all you guys had fun in the last couple of races and well done to everyone.
