Though we don’t have the website up and running yet, I think it’s a good idea to try and return things to normal, so with that said:
Powers not worried by contract speculation
Despite Nathaniel Powers scoring two wins in five races, finishing on the podium in all but one race and of course leading the Championship, there are rumours that his time at Franklin F1 could be short-lived with possible contracts being offered to Will Hoskins and Jonas Phipps. Of course, given Phipps’ current standings, it would seem unlikely that the team currently leading the Constructor’s would need to look elsewhere for drivers.
“A lot of speculation flies about during the season, especially when there is a lack of action. I don’t know what Jamie is planning, but I can assure everyone that we are in talks with the team, and I would like to drive with them next season, if it’s possible. I’ve shown what I can do, and other teams can see that too. I think my position in F1 is safe for the time being,”
Powers is clearly not scarce of any confidence, which could be why his performances this season have been so great, compared to his team mate, whom has suffered a few spots of bad luck in the opening rounds, though his recent contract negotiations prove he has faith in the British team.
“It’s been a tough start,” Claims Hoskins. “It hasn’t gone exactly as I would have liked, but the team has proven their ability to overcome adversity, and I have to do the same. I’ve been a little hard to deal with at times, but I think I’ve calmed down now, thanks to the team’s support. I think these negotiations have really shown just how much faith the team has in me and my ability to deliver, and the deal is pretty much in place now,”
Jonas Phipps is clearly the key figure in how the team will move forwards, if the rumours are to be believed, though it would surely be an odd decision.
“I think we have to look at every option available,” States Franklin. “I know that our drivers have done an exceptional job so far, and of course there is a long way still to go, but it doesn’t mean we can’t assess the talent up and down the grid. I know a lot of people have been saying that we have been looking at Jonas Phipps, and whilst I don’t deny that, I will also say that he isn’t the only driver we have considered. I’m sure things will look far clearer in the near future,”
