F1 Fanatic

Hey all, videos uploaded overnight.

Here’s part 1 – nothing steward worthy here, just a decent consistent 8 lap stint, during which I was losing less than a second lap to @lemon!!

And part 2 – the good news is that all of the great racing (and steward worthy stuff!) happens during the first 3 minutes of this video. Worth watching the first 6 minutes, and then the last 45 seconds, where my calamitous last lap f up occurs!

Having watched that I’m going to retract the appeal, the incident with @infernojim was my fault. Although purely to stop myself being labelled as a dirty driver I’d like to say that both the initial incident and the following over takes on inferno on lap 9 and the last lap where I returned to the racing line too early and knocked him on to the grass were clean on my internet connection.

Huge apologies to @infernojim, as well as anyone else who’s race I might have made difficult

Alfred, your internet connection might explain what happened with me as well. From my perspective at least we came to blows five times over the entire event. I’ve raced a few times with a bad connection so I know how that can go. Either way, now that I know the appeal system is well and truly alive I’ll just have to remember to record Brazil.

So long as I can appeal when I get multiple penalties through no fault of my own I’ll keep racing.

Absolutely. The fact that we’ve gone the whole championship with only 1.5 appeals (I’m counting @ljkobrien‘s as a half appeal :-)) shows how clean our championship is by all accounts.

Next Race – Round 12: Brazil

@mrgrieves he does have something to race for.. Could @lemon get a clean sweep of victories?? Pressures on :-)

Made a good start and got through the carnage at the first corner to get into 5th. Passed Alfred @ljkobrien but I think he  braked a bit too late and knocked me onto the grass at the turn 2 hairpin. Tried my best to get past him over the next few laps, nearly achieving it a few times on lap 3. Make it stick with drs on lap 3. Tried to chase @strunk27 as I set the fastest lap but tyres started to wear and I pitted lap 6 for options (2 stop strategy – option- option – prime)

Came out 9th and after everyone made their stops I was 3rd. passed @infernojim and @strunk27 as they were coming out of the pits on these laps but may have misjudged @ljkobrien Alfred’s speed coming out of the pits and hit him as we came to the apex of the first corner (sorry mate!).

There were quite a few drivers behind me around lap 9 (infernojim, Strunk, Snake, Alfred I believe?) but something happened at the hairpin before the long straight so managed to build a gap. tried to catch Y2J @mrgrieves who was in second. Thought i was doing really well but didn’t appreciate that others may 1 stop. Closed the gap on him but the pack of 3 had caught up behind me before my 2nd stop on lap 13. 

Came out at the back with @McWoblin who I would pass a lap later. Y2J @mrgrieves was right in front of me after his stop and we had an unbelievable battle for the remaining 9 laps.

We ran side by side and even passed and repassed several times. He must of had good traction or straight line speed as I found him difficult to pass even with drs. Alfred  @ljkobrien had come out in front of him so I knew if I passed y2j I could challenge Alfred for 5th (4th with his penalty). Unfortunately he pulled away (must of turned his engine up or me and y2j were losing time fighting). @Strunk27 had caught us up to turn it into a three car battle for 6th. You have to watch the video im in the middle of uploading…. It was such a good fight but drs and a mistake from me meant it passed me and would later blast past y2j too. My tyres were wearing towards the end I I was low on fuel. Was unsure whether  I should turn the engine down as a mistake from the guys in the front would still give me a chance. In the end I stayed where I was and finished 7th. An awesome race! 

DOTD – @ms20.. How he got from the back to finish 2nd I don’t know! Awesome drive

Going to be practicing exceptionally hard for Brazil, I really want to beat my team mate and the only way I can do that is if I come first and @McWoblin finishes in the bottom 3 or 4 points scoring positions. Although, looking at it objectively I’ll be lucky to beat @ms20 he’s improved dramatically since he joined and for the last few races we’ve pretty much matched each other for times.

Going to have to get some practice in on F1 2012 as early as possible for any season we have on the new game, who’s planning on getting it within a month or so of it coming out?
