By the way, I’d just like to mention, the sprint races were fun. More like stockcar, but hey who cares. :D

A predicably eventful Monaco race. Qualifying wasn’t great and I think I could have gone around half a second faster if I had more time. It was a shame about @Powderfinger‘s penalty too, he span in front of me and because I hit him he got a ten place grid penalty (in a field of only 9 cars) an unlucky thing to happen as I wasn’t even on a hot lap and was on my way to the pits.

I got a good start and managed to get up to 2nd from 5th on the grid. I had a good fight with @McWoblin for a few laps before he braked too late on the chincane coming out of the tunnel and went into the back of me, putting me into a half spin. Like everyone else I struggled with tyre wear and had to pit on lap 9, during the first stint I felt I was on the same pace as @McWoblin so hoped to get in front of him once he’d made his first stop but a mixture of trying to go too far on my first set of tyres and a couple of mistakes meant I was a fair distance behind.

The rest of the race was a mixture of damage control when coming to the end of my tyre’s life and making up time at the start of my stints. With around 10 laps left @Powderfinger and @McWoblin came out of the pits around 5 seconds in front of me. I was on pretty worn tyres but was able to keep up with my teammate. Juding by earlier pace I figured he would catch @McWoblin soon and I planned to stay on the back of them and hope one of them pressured the other into a mistake so I could gain a place. Unfortunately @McWoblin did enough to keep the gap to @Powderfinger and I had to settle for 5th. Not a bad race given my last few results but I’m still frustrated I can’t get anywhere near the pace I had in the last two seasons

Should also mention, I had a good fight with @MadDogMolloy in the middle of the race, the first half of the race seem to consist of either trying to get past Lotus’ or keep them behind me

DOTD: has to be @Lemon just as impressive as usual but lapping everyone except @ms20 has further raised the bar. Have you considered finding a league with racers who are more of a challenge mate??

@ms20 – I don’t think I touched you going into the hairpin, it looked to me that you out-braked yourself, if I did then apologies.

@ljkobrien – Really sorry about that, it really took me by surprise how early you braked. I tried to get out of it but it was too late…

No Monaco videos? I’m really looking forward to seeing some

Hey everyone sorry for the late notice but I wont be able to make the race today. I have a big exam later today (my private pilot written exam!) and am going to get some last minute studying in! Talk to you all next week!

I will also add that this will be another no-show from me. Too much going on at uni at the minute. Gutted I missed Monaco and disappointed at missing Canada, but I should return for next time.

Didn’t set a time in qualifying because tyre wear was bad and rain was forecast so I started on primes.
Had a ridiculously good start going from 11th to 2nd or 3rd but I had really low grip and lost a few places and went to 5th.
Pitted for wets a lap too late and lost a chunk of time. Somehow around the second half of the race y2j was 50s behind.
Was lapping a few seconds behind Maddog but he went to pit and we collided, I pressed the wrong arrow to change tyres so went out on wets again and lost more time.
Pitted a lap later and used my 6 laps of extra fuel to go to the end.
Could have still managed 3rd but I was too aggressive and made several mistakes. Quite happy with 4th considering how bad it could have been and the car felt like it was always about to spin for the whole race so not too bad really.

Another successful wet race for me, going to hope for more from now on! Qualifying didn’t go too well, I didn’t get any clean laps in so started second. Even if I had got a clean lap in I don’t think I could have taken Lemon though.

I got a good start and was level with Lemon for first going into the first corner, but I was hit in the rear when going around the slow second corner, this knocked me into Lemon and I think just about everyone got a penalty there. I managed to untangle myself pretty quickly and came out of the chaos in 4th behind Maddog, Blackhawk and Mark (I think). Whoever was in third made a mistake and I got past before the end of the first lap, I closed on Hawk pretty quickly too and was hoping for a battle with him as I don’t think we’ve been on the same bit of track before now but unfortunately he spun as I was coming up behind him. Maddog had avoided most of the incidents at the start so had a lead of around 5 seconds.

Over the next few laps the gap closed slowly but only started to come down quickly once the rain started around lap 8. I got past around lap 12 but immediately saw a reduction in grip so I came into the pits not long after that, with Maddog and Lemon right behind. Something happened to both of them (I think Maddog mentioned going on to the wrong tyres) because I had a fiar sized gap by the end of my out lap. The rest of the race I tried to maintain at least a 20 second gap to Lemon due to my penalty from the start of the race and the distance remained between 23 and 26 seconds until it got dry enough to stick option on again with about 6 laps left.

I had fun on the last few laps, I know Lemon would be fast in the dry so I put the engine up to full and chased the fastest lap. The last few laps Lemon and I traded the fastest lap but I managed to get past the line with more than 20 seconds back to Lemon.

First win of the season and first 2-car podium for the Force Indias! Hopefully this will give me the confidence boost to get some more good results down. It was nice to see the old three car top three back together from first season too :D

DOTD: Blackhawk, he must have had a miserable race but he was professional enough to carry on racing despite being off the pace and was very fair when letting faster cars lap him

Qualifying went well. happy to be in the top 6, i think, Seems so long ago

Race was a total disaster. Made a brilliant start to get alongside @maddogmolloy and thought i was into a fight for the lead when out of know where i was spun coming out of turn 2. Nobody seemed close but was in a straight line so have no idea why i went round but anyways i went from 2nd to last. At the end of lap 1 i came across carnage at the wall of champions thing i hit a previously ghosting @Blackhawks possibly. After that my race was boring except for letting a few cars through i saw nothing edid nothing a toddled around to my finishing place, which i’ve forgot. Nevermind Valencia 1st

DOTD- @ljkobrien for his first win since the Japanese GP from season 1.

The sprint race in New Delhi will go down as one of my all time favourite xbox moments
    - 4 drivers competing for the title
    - @mrgrieves does a Schumacher on @lemon (which backfired because Kevin obtained 2nd and ultimately the title)
    - 3 cars going side by side through most of the last lap @lemon @infernojim and me
    - It was like Massa-Hamilton at Brazil 2008 with y2j thinking he had won! :-)

    Incredible

  • Profile picture of mrgrieves mrgrieves said 5 months, 1 week ago:

That Indian Race was my favorite F1 race, even if it was over 3 laps the sprints totally made up for the disasters i had in the Canadian race.

I dont think i did a Schumacher i was thinking about it but i think it was a racing incident. @Lemon made a move where you’d not expect a overtake, the corner after Massa and Hamilton crashed in 2010 and we caused each others demise! But it was a brilliant bunch of Races!

Couldn’t be asked to qualify after I spun on both of my fast laps.
So, I once again started last.

Looking at the chaos in turn 1/2 it wasn’t to bad.
I had moved up to 4th, I believe.
Odin in front of me spun in the last chicane of sector 1, I was unable to avoid him and recieved one of these pathetic CM penalties…….

Overall the race was pretty uneventful in terms of battles on the track.
With the exception of a short battle with @ms20, once again^^.

It was more of a tactical race as the race set in and you had to choose the correct tyre.

Congratulations to @ljkobrien, first win in a long time and the first of hopefully many more wins for the team this season.

@maddogmolloy What were you doing in the braking zone ahead of the hairpin, I couldn’t avoid a collision and I think I sent you into the gravel trap.

One thing is for sure, I need to practice more than 10- 30 mins ahead of a race, I didn’t have a good feeling for the car in the race and the setups I have created in that time span haven’t felt right either in past races.
