@everyone I noticed that in both PS3 championships they have interviews which everyone does, seem like fun and which provide a back story for any lurkers who are also following the championsip. I’ll provide the questions tomorrow and it would be great if you could all get into the spirit.

You might want to try Really Rubbish Racing if you want a more hardcore experience however I would urge you to at least compete in the first race of our season and see if you like it. Also I don’t know if you’ve raced online but its a lot different from racing simulated AI, who knows we might just give you a run for your money.

Ok everyone.. 2 days to go.

Just to announce that a new calendar has been added to page 1 of this thread with dates of the races. The first race of the season will be the Australian GP so if we could all meet up around 7.20pm with a view of starting qualifying around 7.30pm please. Could you please confirm your entry for this race event. This is so we are not waiting around in the lobby expecting others to join.

A few other things. If you disagree with any of the following then please let me know:

1) The Procedure
I or the host for the event will create a Xbox party 10 minutes before the event. Everyone will be invited to this. After qualifying, there will be a 2 minute wait to allow drivers to prepare for the race, during which time no one is to select ‘Go to Race’ on the menu screen. The host will ask you all for confirmation that you are ready to proceed before beginning the countdown to the start of the race. There will only be one attempt at each race, no restarts.

2) Headset usage
If you have a microphone, you’re welcome to use it but please keep keep comments to a minimum.

3) Note regarding Connection Issues
If a third or more of the field drops out in the first 5 minutes of qualifying, the session is restarted. If the host is having connection problems or if there is significant lag, a new host can be tried for the restart. This can only happen once per race.

If there is a mass disconnection (a third or more of the field) before 75% distance, the race can be restarted as though there was a red flag. We will start another race in a new lobby (with the distance set to roughly how long the race had left to run), and on Lap 1, we all get ourselves into the race order at the red flag point, with the leader acting as the Safety Car. On Lap 2, we continue racing. If anyone can’t make it (time-wise or is having trouble connecting), then the race will be ended and points awarded for however far the race has progressed, ie, half points for under 75%, full points for over. If anyone fails to comply to getting into the correct order, they will disqualified and given a race ban.

4) Note regarding absences
Races can only be moved to a different date or time if everyone agrees. If the host cannot make it or is not online at the race time, then a substitute will host the race and it will go ahead as usual. No individual is bigger than the series.

Drivers unable to make a round of the championship will not be penalised if they notify the others of their absence prior to that Round taking place. Drivers who do not turn up to multiple races without notifying in advance may have their place in the Championship offered to a reserve.

5) Having looked at the settings within the in game menu there seems to be an option to set the cars to ‘equal’ or to ’2011 season form’. If equal then Force India will be at the same pace as McLaren etc. Using a majority to decide – what would people like?

@kvothe could you try to record the results at the end of the race just in case I run out of time or my iphone camera does not work. This way at least one of us will have the results on record.

Q: How are you feeling about the upcoming season?

A: Very excited and nervous, being a student in may spare time, means my preparation hasn’t been what I hoped and with the recent restrictions in testing I go into the season on the back foot.

Q: What expectations do you have for your first online championship?

A: I have started various offline championships however I’ve never managed to make it through a whole season. I have however cut my teeth on online sprint races and at level 49 and with over 40 race victories against real opponents I don’t think I can be easily dismissed by anyone. My biggest strength is being able to fight through the pack wheel to wheel however my biggest problem will definitely be consistency.

Q: What are your targets in terms of best finishing position?

A: I will be aiming for my first race victory.

Q: What teams have you been in talks with? Have you been confirmed at one?

A: I can officially confirm that I have been accepted at Vodaphone McLaren Mercedes. While I was in talks for one of the empty seats at Red Bull Racing, the allure of the team who have had Senna, Prost, Hakkinen and Hamilton drive for them was too much.

Q: What do you think about your team mate?

A: I haven’t had the chance to race against him yet but I’m looking forward to working with him. I’m sure we’ll make a strong team and hopefully we’ll take the constructers championship.

Q: Are there any tracks on the calendar that will suit you?

A:Melbourne, Canada, Spa and Monza are all tracks that suit my driving style and ones I’ll be looking forward to doing well in.

Q1 – A: I’m pretty excited. I havnt raced in a WDC online before and I’m still honing my skills so I think I would enjoy the format, even as a back marker for the experience. Everyone has to start somewhere I suppose.

Q2 – A: I expect to take some points but bot many but I promise to be a good sport and to treat other racers with respect.

Q3 – A: A podium would be great but I reckon my opposition might be a tad more experienced than myself. We shall see what happens.

Q4 – A: I’m hoping for a drive with Toro Rosso to kickstart my career. I grew up rooting for McLaren so I aspire to warm the seat of one in the future.

Q5 – A: So far no decision has been made about who I’ll be paired with.

Q6 – A: High speed circuits like Canada and Monza are my favourites but truthfully, I enjoy the challenges offered by all of the calendar.
