I don’t understand why everyone finds Spain really difficult. That was one of the few races I actually won (it was the first race I did with AI on Legend). Actually, I think it was the only race I won since putting AI on Legend.

@Bradley13 Lotus #19? How many drivers do they have!

    Germany (Wet)
After putting on full wets for the start, I quickly moved up the field into 6th by the end of lap 1. I gained 2 places in the stop, and demoted Hamilton and Webber in the final 2 laps for a well earned podium.

    Hungray (Dry)

I gained 2 places at the start, but struggled for pace in my frist stint. When i changed to the Primes i felt at home and gained 3 places lost in my poor pit-stop. Webber dominated, with Vettel 2nd.

    Belguim (Dry)

My great starts again came to the fore and i was up to 3rd by La Source. I jumped by Webber on lap 2 around the outside of Eau Rouge in my overtake of the year. I closed in on Hamilton when i switched to Primes and finshed 1.7 seconds behind him.

I picked Webber as my rival but it seems tough to overcome the huge lead he had over me.

I knew i wasnt quick over a lap here but knew i had good pace over the race. Settled for 13th on the grid and chose the prime tyres. Got a great start and was up to third by my pitstop four laps from the end. Used the option tyres to take second from Button but couldn’t deny Hamilton the victory.

    Britain (Proffesional) (Dry)
Knowing i struggled in Britain (a lot) i dropped the difficulty, and found pace. A fantastically accurate and perfect lap put me 4th on the grid and i climbed to second off the start. At the end of lap 1 Button tried to pass me but got collected by Vettel and dropped down the field. Hamilton won again from me and Vettel.

    Germany (Dry)
Did a lap in practice for R&D and found i was quick. Was a session long battle for my second ever pole with Vettel and Hamilton who ended 0.063 and 0.096 behind me respectively. In the race i just drove, pitted the lap before Hamilton and never looked bad as Vettel crashed. Button finished third as di Grassi got the quickest lap. Chandhok finished a fantastic 8th to claim 4 points for HRT.

    Hungary (Dry)
Knew i’d stuggle but not as badly as Silverstone. Qualified a respectable 10th for me. Got and average start and made my way 8th. After my pitstop i dropped to the back and just as i was about to be lapped i lapsed concentration through the chicane and ploughed into the wall the other side before rebounding onto the track. Clearly i caught a few people out from the strange results: 1.Kobayashi, 2.Rosberg, 3.Sutil, 4.Liuzzi, 5.Alguersuari, 6.Hulkenberg, 7.Kubica, 8.de la Rosa, 9.Hamilton, 10.Barrichello, 11.Schumacher, 12.Buemi, 13.Senna, 14.Trulli, 15.Glock, 16.Chandhok, 17.di Grassi, Retired: Petrov, Button, Alonso, Vettel, Massa, Webber, Davidson.

    Belgium (Dry)
10th again in Belgian quali. Good start and passed nearly everyone on the first lap, finishing with nipping up the inside of Vettel at the bus stop. (He made 2 stops and dropped out of contention.) Hamilton was too far ahead however so i settled for a strong 2nd ahead of Webber. Glock scored 10th, and a point, for Virgin with di Grassi just outside the points in 11th.

Italy (Quali – Wet, Race – Dry)
During R&D i ckecked the weather, HOORAH!!, 99% chance of rain for quali, and it came. Blitzed the field and took pole by a massive 7 seconds!! Race was dry but i managed to maintain the gap to Massa at the start to win from Hamilton and Schumacher.

    Bahrain
I start regretting signing for Toro Rosso. The car is clearly off the pace. By default I had soft tyres for Q1, but I used hards and got through to Q2. I finished 5th, in the low 1:57s, with the others in the high 1:56s. In Q3 I had a great lap of 1:56.7, 4 tenths faster than Webber. I tried to improve in the following three laps but I couldn’t; Hamilton improved to 2nd, 0.089 seconds behind me. I had pole position, continuing my domination of Sakhir.
The race was easier. At turn 1, the lap following my pit stop, I passed Petrov and di Grassi on the outside and took third place behind Hulkenberg and Kobayashi: my rivals were behind. I had reached the German by lap 7, but he pitted and I went on to win the race with 9.3 seconds on Hamilton.
However I can’t see this race being too representative of my season.

I struggled to get the right set-up for qualy and struggled, failing to make Q3. I made a good start and moved up to 5th by the end of turn 1. There was carnage at turn 3, with Massa spinning across the track. I swiftly made my way through the trouble up to 3rd, behind Alonso and Webber. Webber pitted on lap 3, and got stuck in traffic, eventually finishing 15th. After the pit stops, me and Alonso were 2nd and 3rd, with Sutil, who hadn’t pitted, ahead. We both caught Sutil, and I closed in on Alonso at 2 seconds per lap, whilst he was stuck behind Alonso. On lap 8 Sutil pitted, and me and Alonso traded fastest laps until, on lap 9, i spun at the Parabolica. I regained 2nd, ahead of Sutil, and held on to the finish.

Anthony Davidson Career – Season 1

Singapore (Quali – Wet, Race – Dry)
Was slow here in dry practice but the rain came and saved me in quali. Pole by 7 seconds. Hard race, got mugged in the pits, passed Vettel and Webber back though. Vettel took Hamilton out so i dramatically closed the gap.
    1.Davidson, 2.Kubica, 3.Kobayashi, 4.Alonso, 5.Schumacher, 6.Webber, 7.de la Rosa, 8.Barrichello, 9.Button, 10.Massa, Retired: Hamilton, Vettel.

    Japan (Wet)
Start 1: Got through the Degner 1 and then everything kicked off. It was ridiculously wet and Button ploughed into me as i braked too early. There was a crash that took out at least the top 6 so i decided it was a red flag.
Start 2: Was still stupidly wet, my fist 3 laps were 2:35′s!! Gradually dried throughout but never had to make a pitstop, the rain really saved my championship here, if it hadn’t come, i wouldnt have won.
1.Davidson, 2.Button, 3.Rosberg, 4.Webber… not sure after that, Retired: Alonso, Kubica

    Korea (Dry)
Awful here, shokcing 14th then only pulled up to 7th in the race. Senna got a great 6th becasue i was so slow. Hamilton made two stops and finished 15th.
    1.Vettel, 2.Button, 3.Schumacher, 4.Massa, 5.Kobayashi, 6.Senna, 7.Davidson, 8.Rosberg, 9.Kubica, 10.Webber, Retired: None

    Brazil (Dry)
Again here, not good, 14th on the grid but a good race saw 2nd come from it, albeit 25 seconds behind Webber. di Grassi got 5th, again becasue i was so slow, this also led to the Renault’s coming together behind me. With Hamilton 6th however, this made me the WORLD CHAMPION :D!!!
    1.Webber, 2.Davidson, 3.Hulkenberg, 4.Massa, 5.di Grassi, 6.Hamilton, 7.de la Rosa, 8.Kubica, 9.Petrov, 10.Rosberg, Retired: None

    Abu Dhabi (Dry)
Was shocked by the lack of Quali pace here, only 19th on a track i like. Although, i think the game glitched, i was losing 1/2 seconds in the last sector but in the race i was miles quicker than anyone. High rate of attrition, (i think there was a pile-up) and some wierd pit strategies led to Lotus claiming second in the Constructors, two points ahead of Red Bull.
    1.Hamilton, 2.Trulli (i let him through), 3.Davidson, 4.Alguersuari, 5.Glock, 6.Kubica, 7.Barrichello, 8.Massa, 9.Chandhok, 10.di Grassi, 11.Hulkenberg, 12.Senna (3 stops), Retired: Everyone else.

From 8th i got a great start and got up to 4th. Steadily made my way through the top three and took the lead before the pitstops, never looking back.

Q1 was wet so i easily got through, Senna fell out again and qualified 22nd. I fell out in Q2 however as i really struggled for lap time and finished 13th after putting the car in the wall.

Had a great race and overtook Hamilton for the lead on lap 10 out of 12.

I seriously struggled for pace, and qualified 15th. A great start put me in 6th by the end of the opening lap. I passed Massa around Turn 4, for 5th. When i was pitting, however, i pushed to hard to gain time on Webber, who was in front and pitted earlier, and shoved it in the pitlane wall. Race over.

    Japan (Dry)
I have always been rubbish here, and it showed. Edged out into 14th despite being in the top 10 with 3 minutes to go. I was up in 5th, but when i pitted the lollipop man waited for 30 seconds before releasing me. 10 seconds behind last, i stuck it in the wall, deliberately.

Korea (Wet Q1, Dry all the other weekend)
My favourite track, i was very unlucky to be knocked out of Q2 with 30 seconds to go. I made a fantastic start, storming through the field into 6th. I overtook Alonso around the outside, then Webber through the final corner. I passed Vettel in the stops, but went wide in turn 1 and he passed me. I finished 3rd.

I skipped the last 2 races through a wrist injury.

I won the WDC in a Lotus in my first year, tonight ive taken my second WDC in a Red Bull at Monza, having won every round of the season so far – and signed for Ferrari for next season. Im racing with custom difficulty settings, most though are set to ‘professional’ level, not quite on expert yet.

On expert level & Legend AI, all driving aids off, manual pits, Logitech GT Pro wheel mounted in a Hyperstimulator chassis -see http://www.hyperstimulator.com/personal/features.html. Into my 3rd season driving for Ferrari. Won the WDC in the 2nd season for Sauber. Started with Lotus. Have won all races leading up to Spain. Having difficulties with the setup and qualified 9th. Haven’t proceeded with it much as I started playing GT5. Will be ordering F1 2011 tonight – it arrives on Thursday.

Biggest problem with 2010 is the pit release. If you go in at the wrong time your pit crew does a poor release. You might be in the top 5 and be 5 secs ahead of your nearest rival but if you get caught in the pits you end up coming out in 15th or 18th place. Damn frustrating bug in the game.

And, I use the in-car cockpit view – hard at first but now I find it better than any other view. The front bumper view doesn’t give you the sense of oversteer/understeer early enough for you to counteract. But some cars, especially the ones with the mirrors out wide (Ferrari), don’t allow you to see what’s behind you – I don’t like using the rear view button. Driving cockpit view in the Mercedes is hard – the nose seems to be too high and blocks out the view when you’re trying to hit the apex perfectly. Love driving in the wet but need to show restraint on the throttle – awards well with smooth input. Best is to play with quality ear phones so you can just hear the wheel spin/engine over-rev to pick out when you need to be gentle or aggressive on the throttle.

I don’t really play the game “normally.” I play the game on easy; except I deactivate brake assist. I keep TC/ABS on as I have no choice (I only have a keyboard on my PC and no wheel :P

Having said that I have dominated every race in my career to date; 20% length races and I have lapped the 2nd placed man in every race so far. Does that count? :P

Also, is it just me, or are the AI especially idiotic in Bahrain? I tried Expert level; driving a Virgin in qualifying I was still 2 seconds ahead of the 2nd qualifier. Most of my lap time gains being in the mickey mouse infield section which was new for 2010.

After a 3-and-a-half months’ pause, I bought a new PC and resumed playing. I copied my save files from my old to my new PC, but strangely the game doesn’t find them, so I had to create a new game. As I had just started my 5th season, I began a new, 3-season-long career, which ideally would be the ones I miss to finish my initial 7-year career. Practically there are two different careers, the first one of four seasons, and the new one of three, which sum up to one career of 7 seasons.
As I had already done Bahrain, I repeated it and won it to continue where I left: leading the championship after round 1. My teammate is now Buemi though, not Alguersuari.
If I manage to restore my original files I’ll continue that career though, as all my experience points and all other settings have been lost.

After 2 months, here we go again! Adapting to F1 2010 after playing only F1 2011 for months has been incredibly hard, and the handling is very poor in comparison. I kept the AIs on level 4/4.

    Australia
I had to use soft tyres in Q1 and I was only 17th. I used a new set of softs in Q2 knowing I’d not make it to Q3 anyway, and I qualified 11th. I opted to start on hard tyres.
I didn’t have a particularly fast getaway as my setup was not good in accellerations, but was good for the longer straights and high speed corners: I made up a few positions but at turns 11 and 12 I was definitely the quickest driver. I passed more cars on lap 1 right there, then Hamilton on lap 2 and Vettel on lap 3. Webber led and had a 5-second margin coming inot the pits on lap 6 for hard tyres. I anticipated my stop to lap 7 and came out 6s behind Webber, with Sutil in between, but he stopped at the end of the lap. On my first flying lap I reduced Webber’s gap by one third, and then, although I was the fastest man on track and I improved my lap record by a few hundreths every lap, Webber still had a solid margin of 3s over me when he crossed the line, first. I was second, and me and Webber are now tied up on points.
