    Season 2 – Williams – Race 5 – Spain

    Qualifying: 1st
As every quali so far I got through Q1 with primes.. I got into Q3 but to be fair it was a bit ridiculous.. I took pole by 2 seconds from Vettel doing one flying lap on options :/

    Race 1st
Got a brilliant start and for the first stint I made a 10 second gap to Vettel as he was fighting with Schumacher.. Did a 2 stop which was the same as Vettel and ended up winning by 19 seconds :0 Fairly boring race but very happy for my first ever career victory..

    Race 6 – Monaco

    Quali – 10th
Got through to Q3 but knew I didnt have the pace so I did a slow lap on primes and went back into the pits.. Alonso took pole with the two mercedes behind him

    Race – 9th
Got an okay start up to 8th and I managed to keep a 3 second gap to Heidfeld behind while Perez ahead of me built up a 10 second gap.. I cant remember much cause I was concentrating so hard :0 Anyway tyre wear was absolutely horrible and on the last stint I spun going into portier.. I caught up to Hamilton on the last lap but I couldnt get past :/ Apart from that spin I didnt make any mistakes which was good.. Rosberg won with Alonso and massa also on the podium.. Barrichello got a DNF early on.

    Race – 7 – Canada

    Quali: 1st
I took my 3rd pole position in my career on the option tyres, 8 tenths ahead of Rosberg with the two Red Bulls behind him.

    Race: 2nd
The start of the race was damp with everyone starting on intermidiates.. got a horrible start with way too much wheelspin and Webber overtook me on the outside of turn 2.. Webber built up a 5 second lead and I was holding up Rosberg behind by being really defensive.. I kept him behind until I pitted on lap 17 for another set of intermidiates.. I came out in 7th behind Hamilton and everyone else pitted on lap 20 so I’m back up to 2nd, still 5 seconds behind Webber and 3.1 seconds ahead of Rosberg.. On lap 22 I cant hold back Rosberg any longer and he passes me on the back straight.. I’m passed again by Vettel on lap 24 and I pit on lap 25 as the track has dried out for primes.. I come out in 8th behind Button but everyone ahead of me is on options and they pit on lap 33 for primes.. I’m up to 4th with Massa close behind on fresh tyres while my tyres are a couple of laps old.. I know at this moment that I need to conserve my tyres to keep 4th because if I pit I will come out in 7th.. But amazingly Vettel retires for some reason so Im up to 3rd :) And then Rosberg retires as he crashes into D’ambrosio so I inherit 2nd behind Webber :0
I managed to last to the end on primes so I finished in 2nd..30 seconds behind Webber and 5 seconds ahead of Massa.. lasting 28 laps on primes was a great acheivement I think and it got me a podium in the end :)

    Championship Standings
    1st: Vettel 104
    2nd: Webber 84
    3rd: Massa 72
    4th: Me 69
    5th: Alonso 65
    6th: Schumacher 60
    7th: Button 46
    8th: Kobayashi 42
    9th: Rosberg 35
    10th: Perez 35

    Race 3: China
    Qualifying: 1st – Race: 2nd
I took pole position in the wet by one second and four tenths on Vettel. I started the race on the prime compound, but I was slower than the others. However, I kept the lead until lap 7 when I pitted, but I made a costly mistake entering the pit lane, running wide on the gravel and losing time. In fact I was 4th when I re-joined the track. I was the fastest driver on the circuit and, setting and improving the fastest lap, I passed Rosberg on lap 9 and Webber on lap 10; still I was too far from Alonso who won by a second on me. Kobayashi was 16th. This put an end to my 21-race winning streak, but I’m still improving the consecutive podiums streak.

    Race 4: Turkey
    Qualifying: 7th – Race: 1st
I didn’t have the pace to qualify any better than 7th place. I took third place at the start, then overtook Massa and later Webber to lead the race. I pitted on lap 5 when I was 2 seconds ahead of Massa, and I came out one second ahead of Alonso. I made a mistake at turn 8 on lap 8 that helped him to get closer and pass me in the DRS zone, but I re-passed him in the braking zone. Another mistake on lap 9 put me behind before the DRS zone, but using all of my KERS I stayed behind him and passed him on the inside. I pushed in the final three laps and won quite comfortably ahead of Alonso and Webber, with Kobayashi in 10th place.

    Race 5: Spain
    Qualifying: 4th – Race: 1st
I improved my pace throughout the qualifying sessions and qualified in 4th place, 3 tenths behind polesitter Webber. I took the lead at the start staying on the inside of turn 1, and held Webber just behind until I pitted on lap 5. Webber stayed out one more lap but lost many positions as a result, and I led Massa by 4 seconds. I set the fastest lap on lap 7 but then Massa slowly started to catch me, until on lap 10 I found Sutil, who was last, ahead of me, and he probably cost Massa some time because the gap was 4 seconds again. I won the race ahead of the two Ferraris, who have overtaken us in the constructors’ standings, as Kobayashi was 12th.

    Race 6: Monaco
    Qualifying: 4th – Race: 1st
I could only qualify 4th but I took the lead at the start of the race: first me and Alonso overtook Webber, then me and Webber overtook Alonso and finally I overtook Vettel. I pushed, setting the fastest lap which was to remain unbeaten, and pitted on lap 6 with serious tyre wear. I joined in 11th place just behind Kobayashi whom I immediately overtook to avoid being slowed down. As the others pitted Button led and I was second, with a good margin on Vettel. I broke my front wing’s flaps but continued, and spun on lap 9, although I was able to continue with 2 seconds on Vettel. Button later stopped at the Nouvelle Chicane, probably with a flat tyre, and I took the lead with Vettel closing in. I found the first backmarkers on lap 10 and, lapping them with risky manoeuvres, I escaped a little from Vettel’s clutches. I won ahead of him and Alonso, skidding through the track on the last lap with no traction due to my old tyres. Karthikeyan was surprisingly 10th, whilst Kobayashi was only 12th.

    Season Summary
    Wins: 5 – Poles: 3 – Doubles: 2 – Grand Slams: 1
    Australia – 1st + 1st

    China – 1st + 2nd

    Race 8 – Valencia – Season 2 – Williams

    Quali – 3rd
A very enjoyable qualifying really.. upon advancing into Q3 I decided to do one flying lap at the end of the session.. Massa was on provisional pole and at the end of the first sector I was a few thousanths of a second up on him.. however in the second sector I lost 2 tenths and I lost another tenth in the last sector so I ended up 3rd on the grid with Rosberg behind and Vettel and Massa ahead of me. Massa took his first pole of the season and my teammate Barrichello was 13th.

    Race
This was quite an amazing race so read on :)
I race on 75% race distance so the race would last 43 laps.. my strategy was to pit on lap 13 for primes to last to lap 30 and then stick on options again to last until the end.. I knew a one stop strategy was out of the question as I discovered in the free practice sessions :/

When the lights went out I got a decent start and remained in 3rd into the first corner and for the first 2 laps.. Webber was now behind me because he passed Rosberg to get into fouth. On lap 3 DRS was now in use and Webber used it to pass me in the first DRS zone. But I repassed him on lap 4 to retain 3rd by using DRS on him. This was a nice little battle between me and Webber and on the next lap he passed me again on the first DRS zone but I got a better run on him out of turn 14 and passed him on the straight. Due to my battle with Webber Vettel had built up a 5 second gap ahead of me. Me and Webber continued to battle but I managed to build up a 3.5 second lead to him by the end of lap 12.

So I pitted as planned on lap 13 for primes and came out in 5th with my teammate behind me. I had a quick look at the Race Director while I was in the pits and I saw that Webber retired. My teammate passed me in the DRS zone so Im now in 6th with Kobayashi 1 second behind me.. People then pit ahead of me so Im back into third, now 7 seconds behind Vettel. Kobayashi still hasnt pitted so I presume he was going for a one stop. On lap 16 Vettel takes the lead as he passes Massa. As Massa and Vettel squabble for the lead, I turned the fuel mixture up and hunted them down.. on lap 22 I pass Massa to take 2nd by using DRS. Now I have to hunt down Vettel for the lead :)

So I pit as planned of course on lap 30 for options.. I come out in 3rd, 5 seconds behind Vettel. Massa was in the lead but he had yet to stop, which he did eventually which meant I was back to 2nd. I had 2+ laps of fuel so I turned to Rich fuel mix and set 3 fastest laps in a row. I caught him and with 8 laps to go there was a massive scrap between us for the victory.
So on lap 36 I passed him using DRS to take the lead but he repassed on the next lap using DRS. On lap 39 I pass him again in the DRS zone but the on the next lap he retakes the lead using DRS again :)
Then on the last lap I got into the DRS zone but he defends his position and still remains in the lead. I then do the cutback through turn 14 and get a great run on him on the 2nd DRS zone and pass him to take the lead. At this stage both our tyres were completely ruined and we were literally sliding through the last sector with him right on my gearbox. Then on the final corner I lock up badly and run wide onto the marbles.. I thought I lost the chance of victory but Vettel didnt get good traction out of the corner with too much wheelspin and on a run to the line I took 1st by a whisker :) It was a fairly hectic race.. Definately the closest finish I’ve had on F1 2011 :)

    Race Result
    1st: Me
    2nd: Vettel
    3rd: Massa
    4th: Rosberg
    5th: Kobayashi

    Race 7: Canada
    Qualifying: 1st – Race: 1st
It took me more than three laps each time to top Q1 and Q2, but my only Q3 lap, at the end of the session, was 0.048s faster than Webber and 0.083s faster than Vettel, and I was on pole position. The race was wet but run on intermediates, and I led easily since the start, earning some seconds on my opponents every lap. I passed half distance and whilst the others pitted I stayed out. Vettel beat my fastest lap, so I decided it was time to put my fuel settings on “rich” mode and use the fuel I had saved until then. I beat his lap by 6 tenths, then improved a further 2 tenths. My tyres were perfectly fine until the last three or four laps, when I started suffering from oversteer. By then I was 22 seconds ahead of Webber and in sight of the backmarkers. As I lapped them I found more and more problems, and on the last two laps I lost about ten seconds because I spun exiting the hairpin both times. However I won with a big margin on Webber, with Kobayashi just 16th.

    Race 8: Europe
    Qualifying: 4th – Race: 1st
I reached Q3 saving two sets of soft tyres, and planned to do two runs. With the first run I was eighth, but improved to fourth with the second; Alonso was on pole. I was squeezed between Vettel and Massa at turn 1, but on the outside of turn 2 I took the lead of the race. I was faster than anyone else, and led Alonso by eight seconds when he pitted on lap 5. I waited one lap to do the same and afterwards I led Massa by 13 seconds. I went on pushing and won by 18s on Massa, Webber and Alonso, with Kobayashi 13th.

Started my career with Force India on Legend difficulty, 20% race and no assists (cockpit view & Logitech GT5 Driving Force wheel) – took 6 races for me to get to grips with the setup and car handling, then started winning races from there. Won the WDC with Force India and then got a contract with McLaren. Now completed 4 races with McLaren, all starting pole and finishing first. In my qualifications I use the primes and still manage to get pole… all starting to be a little too easy – especially if you get the right setup. Have been playing mostly online and there are some really seriously fast guys that also don’t use any assist – simply need to improve my car setup to keep up with them – ones to look out for are popo722, maitarion, alfa0329, . Anyway, my PSN is heartmuscle – drop me a hello if you come across me in a same session.

    Race 9: Great Britain
    Qualifying: 18th – Race: 1st
I set a lap early on in Q1, but then I returned to the pits and sat waiting as the others improved it. When the two HRTs incredibly beat me there was no time for me to react and set another lap time, and I was 18th, the worst ever qualifying position in my career. I decided to start on soft tyres to make up positions and the start and so it was: I had a good getaway, and took the inside of turn 1, then the outside of turn 2 and again the inside of turn 3. Then I passed Hamilton and Webber and I was 6th. At the end of the straight I passed Schumacher, then Massa at Vale and at the end of the first lap I was 4th, behind Rosberg, Vettel and Alonso. I passed Alonso at turn 3, then Vettel at Vale and, one lap later, Rosberg, in the same point. I led by lap 4, and pitted for hard tyres. All went well and I also extended my lead on Vettel, as I did on Rosberg when he pitted one lap later. Petrov was leading and stopped only on lap 8, but I took first place back and won the race ahead of Rosberg and Vettel; Kobayashi was 15th.

    Race 10: Germany
    Qualifying: 1st – Race: 1st
The qualifying was the hardest of my career. It took me many laps in Q1 to complete a lap without finding traffic or making a mistake, and eventually I finished 3rd. In Q2 I had to complete 7 laps before settling in 7th place. In Q3 I completed one flying lap at the start of the session, but as Webber lapped 0.089s slower I decided to do another run on new tyres, and although the session finished with me ahead I completed the lap, improving by a little more than a tenth and securing pole position. The race was run on intermediates, and Alonso took second place from Webber at the start and I built a 5-second lead on him before pitting on lap 6 for inters. The track dried out towards the end and everyone pitted again for slicks apart from me, and I won with 25 seconds on Alonso who had 15 on Hamilton; Kobayashi was 10th.

    Race 11: Hungary
    Qualifying: 1st – Race: 1st
I easily reached Q3 and took pole by 5 tenths on Vettel. I extended my lead on Rosberg, who overtook Vettel, while trying to look after my tyres, in the first laps. I pitted on lap 6 and on the following lap Rosberg, Vettel and Webber, who hadn’t done so, retired due to tyre failures. One lap later Massa followed in their footsteps, so I was back at the front, and went on to win by over 15s on Button and Alonso, with Kobayashi in 7th place. This was my 50th career win.

    Race 12: Belgium
    Qualifying: 1st – Race: 1st
Q3 was wet and I set the provisional pole time right away. The track dried out but despite some drivers improving, like Kobayashi who became 4th or Liuzzi who became 8th, no one could beat me. I had a bad start and Massa took the lead ahead of Rosberg. Rosberg passed Massa on the Kemmel straight and I passed both. Rosberg then ran wide into the gravel trying to overtake me again. I had started on hard tyres so I was struggling to run away from the others, but at least I was helping Kobayashi who was 6th. Massa and Schumacher battled for second place and Alonso, Vettel and my team mate followed close behind. The latter three pitted on lap 4, whilst the others and me continued for one extra lap. I kept the lead, while Alonso earned a position on Massa. Vettel was 4th, Kobayashi down to 7th and Schumacher 9th. Massa passed his team mate and started chasing me, while Alonso and Vettel fought for the podium. Massa passed me at Raidillon on lap 7 as I had a bad acceleration out of Eau Rouge, but I overtook him again on the following lap in the DRS zone; Alonso passed Vettel on the final lap. I won, and being followed by Massa and Alonso we completed an all-Ferrari engines podium.

    Race 13: Italy
    Qualifying: 1st – Race: 1st
I had no problems in qualifying and took pole position on my home track. I built a small lead on Vettel in the first laps but on lap 5 he cut it down because of a mistake on my part and the DRS, and he passed me. I fought back and overtook him again, before he jumped ahead at Parabolica as I ran wide. We both pitted but by braking later I entered the pit lane ahead. My lead was even greater after the pit stops, and I set the fastest lap increasing it. I relaxed a bit in the final laps but won with 2 seconds on Vettel, followed by Hamilton. Kobayashi was 11th; Alonso was 15th, so I won the Drivers’ World Championship and got a contract offer from Ferrari, which I accepted.

    Race 14: Singapore
    Qualifying: 3rd – Race: 1st
My Q1 and Q2 times suggested I was capable of taking pole on hard tyres, and I was actually leading Q3 on that compound until last-second improvements by Alonso and Schumacher relegated me to 3rd. I took second place behind Rosberg who had a great start, as Webber took 3rd. Exiting turn 10 I touched the wall and spun, hitting the barrier head-first and losing my front wing. Alonso crashed into me and retired, and the safety car was deployed. I pitted at the end of the lap and put soft tyres on, and I was 21st. As the safety car returned to the pits on lap 3, I immediately overtook Kovalainen and other four cars on lap 4. As the slow laps at the start had helped me keep my tyres in good condition, I planned to maintain my previously programmed pit stop on lap 7. However, after overtaking Liuzzi, entering the tunnel I witnessed another crash involving Petrov, Rosberg and Alguersuari, and I was lucky enough to avoid the stationary vehicles. The safety car was deployed once again, and at the end of lap 6 I decided to pit, before the gaps were entirely wiped out. To add to the bad luck, Kobayashi, just ahead of me, also decided to pit, and I was forced to wait for some seconds before my time came. I put new soft tyres on, and re-joined the track in 9th place. On lap 8 I was 6th as others pitted, and the safety car came into the pits. On lap 9 I overtook Schumacher around turn 1, and found Kobayashi in fourth position. I passed him and Webber right ahead of him, who, trying to resist, ran wide and hit the barrier, losing his front wing. It then took me a lap to reach Button who was second behind Rosberg, but I passed him immediately. Entering the tunnel, Rosberg, on his own, ran wide and damaged his front wing: he continued, but I was ahead and ran away. I set the fastest lap on lap 11, and on the final lap Button retired, probably after crashing while trying to overtake Rosberg. I won, and Kobayashi was completed the podium behind Rosberg.

    Race 9 – Great Britain – Season 2 – Williams

    Quali – 19th

I did a lap on primes which was okay but I decided to do another lap. Unfortunatley I spun and lost my Front wing. When repairs were done there was not much time left. Went out on options and messed up my lap. 19th was the worst quali in my 2nd career so far.

    Race

I started on options and made a good start, passing several cars in the first lap which put me up to 10th I believe. My car setup was more towards looking after my tyres so I wasnt that quick. As everyone else pitted on lap 10, I stayed out and was up to 4th. With Vettel behind me I lost some time defending and eventually pitted on lap 15 for primes. I came out in 9th place with Button and Petrov behind. I couldnt keep the Mclaren behind me as he passed me around lap 25. I managed to keep Petrov behind for the rest of the race even though he was on fresher tyres. Yes everyone I did a one stop :) Its tough but possible but its not the best strategy. I finished in 10th with my teammate in 14th. Silverstone is a very tough track for me so I suppose one point is’nt too bad from the weekend. Webber won with Massa 2nd and Rosberg 3rd.

    Race 10 – Germany – Season 2 – Williams

    Quali – 10th
Made it into Q3 and really thought I could get pole but unfortunately I was well off. Vettel took pole with Massa and Webber behind him. Barrichello was 16th.

    Race – DNF

You know what there’s really no point in explaining this race. Well I made a good start and was up to 8th with Schumacher behind. I had a good battle and when I pitted he did the undercut and got past. Petrov was then behind me, but my race was ruined by………… yes you’ve guessed it, a bloody backmarker. I had already lost time getting past some HRT’s but then I tried to get passed glock and he turned in on me and I got a drive through.. I just quit after that as I would have been well down the field.. so bloody annoying. Anyway I was looking forward to the next races as Im pretty good at Hungary, Spa and especially Monza. At least I think I am anyway..

    Race 11 – Hungary – Season 2 – Williams

    Quali – 1st
Again, one lap was good enough for pole, 8 tenths from Webber. Rosberg was 3rd and the championship leader, Vettel was surprisingly down in 6th. Barrichello was 13th.

    Race – 3rd

    Race Distance – 35 Laps

This really was a very strategic race. The start of the race was really wet with everyone on the full wets. Funny enough I made a good start with not much wheelspin, which I almost always do, even in the dry. Anyway it was really tough keeping Rosberg behind for almost 20 laps in the full rain with no ABS or TC. Rosberg overtook Webber at the start and I knew from Canada that the mercedes was quick in the rain. My Race Engineer told me to pit on lap 11 for another set of wets but I ignored him, knowing that the rain would stop soon enough. When Button and Rosberg behind me pitted for inters around lap 20 I still stayed out, wanting to eventually pit for slicks when there was a dry line. But I knew that I had to pit for inters as my RE told me that some quick laptimes were being posted on the inters – (probably the most valuable thing he’s told me, EVER) :) I did pit on lap 25 for inters with 10 laps left. Before I pitted Vettel caught up to me as he was on a fresh set of inters while I was still on worn wets. Once again some backmarkers got in my way and I spun trying to pass Karthikeyan which let Vettel through. When I came out of the pits I was 8 seconds behind Vettel on the intermidiates. I wanted the win and the track dried out with 3- 4 laps remaining. Vettel pitted from the lead for option tyres while I stayed out on inters. I saw that Vettel was 10 seconds behind when he came out. At the end of the 32nd lap he was 6 seconds behind. At the start of the penultimate lap he caught up to me and passed me on the straight. My tyres were overheating badly and I was starting to get blisters. On the last lap Kobayashi was 2 seconds behind me going into the last sector. I spun on the second last corner and let him through. Vettel won, Kobayashi 2nd, me 3rd and Barrichello 13th. Button and Rosberg, who I was fighting with at the start retired for some reason which was a shame.

Of course it was dissapointing to lose to lead but it was worth a shot at staying out on those tyres. It was quite an exciting race really, and I suppose a podium is not a bad result. Spa is next which I’m really looking forward to.

    Season Summary

    Race 12 – Belgium – Season 2 – Williams

    Quali – 1st

One flying lap on options was enough to take pole from Webber by four tenths. Alonso was 3rd, Rosberg 4th and Barrichello 8th. The world championship leader Vettel qualified 12th which was surprising. I knew that I had the chance to eat into his lead at this race. A podium at least was possible.

    Race – 1st

I made a good start from pole and kept Webber and Alonso behind me for the first couple of laps. As I was in clean air in front, the guys behind me were fighting for 2nd place. This meant that I had a 10 second gap when I first pitted for primes on lap 8. In a 22 lap race, I planned on doing a one stop and I soon found out that Schumacher behind in second, was doing the same. When I came out of the pits Schumacher was now 8 seconds behind. I kept the gap to him in the closing stages but on lap 19, spits of rain were dropping on the circuit. My RE told me that it was going to get heavier so I pitted with 2 laps the go for inters. Schumacher did the same and I crossed the line in first place to take my third victory. It was quite a straightforward victory and with Vettel having a DNF for some reason, I closed the gap to him and was up to 2nd in the standings. Barrichello finished in 7th while Kovalainen got his first points finish of the season, finishing in tenth. Alonso did well to take 3rd after his teammate Massa spun him in the first corner. Rosberg, Button, Vettel, Webber and Hamilton all got DNF’s. This always seems to happen in F1 2011. All of the top drivers seem to not finish the race while the likes of HRT and Virgin do. :/

    Race 15: Japan
    Qualifying: 5th – Race: 1st
I never looked competitive enough to take pole: in fact, I was 5th, as Schumacher was first. I overtook Massa around turns 1 and 2, then Alonso and Vettel braking into turn 3. I then overtook Schumacher at the hairpin, and Vettel took the opportunity to become 2nd. I made a mistake at the start of lap as I ran very wide at turn 1, losing one position. I followed Vettel and tried numerous times to get through but on lap 5, when we both pitted, I was still behind. As nearly half of the field pitted, Vettel was force to wait in his box and me and Schumacher gained positions on him. I also had to wait as a Lotus was approaching me as I was ready to leave, and Schumacher also passed me. After lap 6 the leaders had all pitted and Schumacher lead from me and Massa. I closed the gap to the Mercedes and exiting the last corner on lap 7 I was on his tail. Using the DRS I overtook him and went on to set the fastest lap of the race. On laps 8 and 9 I built a 2-second advantage which I then administrated in the last two laps, and won the race; my team mate was 8th.

    Race 16: South Korea
    Qualifying: 1st – Race: 2nd
I set very competitive lap times in Q1 and Q2 using prime tyres; in Q3 I was second with my first run on used soft tyres, and improved to take pole by 1.3s with my second run on new soft tyres. I kept behind the other drivers on super-softs for the first laps, but already by 3 I couldn’t extend my lead as my tyres wore out. I pitted on lap 7 and Vettel gained a position on me. I used my fresh rubber to reach him, and I passed him on lap 11 on the main straight. He used DRS to take the position back, and I waited till the final sector to try and overtake him. However, he was faster than I thought and despite using my KERS he crossed the finish line less than a car length ahead and won the race. Kobayashi was 11th.

    Race 13 – Italy – Season 2 – Williams

    Quali: 1st

I took pole by 7 tenths from Webber with Vettel in 3rd. Barrichello was 12th.

    Race: 1st
Got a good start and stayed in the lead going into the first chicane. I managed to keep a 3 second gap to Alonso in the first stint. I ended up doing a two stop because tyre wear was surprisingly bad for some reason. Alonso also did a two stop and I kept a five second gap to him to take my fourth victory of the season. I know it was a boring race as I lead every lap but I closed the gap to Vettel in the standings.

    Race 14 – Singapore

    Quali: 1st
I took pole 1.3 seconds from Alonso on the Prime Tyres. Whats more, I was 7 tenths up on my second lap on the primes when I spun so I easily could have been faster. Alonso and Webber were behind me with Vettel in 6th. Barrichello was 10th.

    Race: 1st

    Race Distance: 31 Laps

Got a brilliant start and I made a 3 second gap to Alonso in the first lap which turned into 10 seconds by lap 5. Then the safety car came out as Schumacher crashed for some reason, as I checked the race director and saw he was retired. I decided to stay behind the safety car and not pit. When the race resumed, I was 2 seconds up on Alonso by lap 10. I pitted on this lap as my primes were badly worn. I put on a set of options and rejoined the race in 15th place. I made up several places by passing the cars ahead and I was back up to 1st when everyone else pitted again. I pitted on lap 18 for primes and rejoined in the lead with a comfortable gap to Vettel who had overtaken Alonso. The gap was around 30 seconds to Vettel, and when he pitted again around lap 25, it was over a minute. However my tyres were hitting the cliff and I understeered wide in one of the turns and damaged my front wing. But with such a big gap to Vettel I pitted with two laps to go for options and I still was 30 seconds ahead of him. I took the victory, which was my third in a row and my fifth in the season. My teammate finished 10th. I am now 21 points behind the leader Vettel in the standings with not many races to go.

    Race 17: India
    Qualifying: 1st – Race: 1st
I led every second of qualifying, as I was first to set a time in each session. In Q3 I led by 1 tenth on Alonso so I decided to try another lap: I didn’t improve in S1, but with a perfect S2 and S3 I improved by 9 tenths and took pole by over a second. The race was wet and everyone started on intermediates. Unlike the others, I didn’t plan to pit to change tyres. I set the fastest lap on lap 2 and from then on relaxed, despite earning over 3 seconds per lap. I started losing traction on the last three laps and overall lost ten seconds, crossing the line first by 40s on Alonso. Kobayashi was 10th.

    Race 18: Abu Dhabi
    Qualifying: 1st – Race: 1st
I was leading Q3 but I had encountered traffic on my flying lap, so I decided to do another run at the end of the session, and improved to take pole by 1.8 seconds. I kept my lead and decided to pit one lap later than programmed, to try and keep 1st place after the stop. I managed to do so, and increased the gap between me and Vettel incredibly fast, to take the win by over 20 seconds on the German. Kobayashi was 11th.

    Race 19: Brazil
    Qualifying: 1st – Race: 1st
Q3 was wet and I set a lap time of 1:16.5 early in the session, which was provisional pole. I bettered it later on to a 1:13.9, to take pole by over 3 seconds on Schumacher. The Mercedes driver attacked me at the start as I had hard tyres, but he couldn’t get ahead. He overtook me on lap 3 using DRS, and I took the place back on lap 4, also using DRS; however, he passed me again on the back straight. We then exchanged positions more times on lap 5, but I had a little gap before he pitted. As he turned towards the pit lane with his DRS open, he lost traction and swerved on track, hitting Alonso, who had no damage, and retiring. I pitted on lap 7 and became 2nd behind Rosberg, who pitted with three laps to go. I took the lead again and won with 17s on Massa, who led Alonso by 1s. Kobayashi was 12th and finished the championship 13th.

    Season 5 – Ferrari #1 (AI strength: 4/4)

    Race 1: Australia
    Qualifying: 1st – Race: 1st
The season got off to a perfect start for the team as a whole: I was on pole, 0.015 seconds ahead of Alonso, but the surprise was Perez, 3rd. I lead the group for the first lap, then my team mate overtook me at turn 3. Despite having lost the position, I was faster and copied the move one lap later, only to run wide and leave Alonso ahead. I stayed in the clutches of the Spaniard and overtook him on the main straight using DRS; I was slow out of turn 2 and lost the position again. Alonso pitted at the end of the lap, but the Ferrari garage being at the start of the pit lane, he had to wait as other cars entered the pit lane before leaving, and lost some time. Button, behind me, caught me quickly, but I pitted at the end of the lap and he lost the position to Perez. I joined the track 3rd, behind Liuzzi and Alguersuari. Perez overtook me before turn 11 after Alguersuari had pitted, but I was ahead again using DRS on the straight, and into the lead. When I led the others were faster than me, but as soon as I fell behind I had a better pace. I was slowing down everyone else and helping Alonso who was 6th, but in the end he lost a place. I won, setting the fastest lap, ahead of Perez and Webber.
