    @ajokay

This might help, Flav is an awesome driver.

You might want to re-calibrate your brakes in-game so you get a better curve, although I’ve found locking up with the NTM feels a bit different too.

Doh, just realised that video was using the old version of the NTM, hopefully not too much has changed in terms of driving style.

Yeah, Flav is ridiculous in lots of the lower cars. Also, I think the differences between the new and old tire model in terms of driving style are exaggerated. I get the impression it’s mostly mental as I’ve adapted fine between them (and can’t feel too drastic of a difference other than making sure they don’t overheat as time goes on).

Just tried the SRF for a few laps at summit point, feels better than the last time I tried it although the understeer is still annoying :P. Do I have to sign up for that league or can I just drop in?

It’s better to at least speak up to let us know you’d like to participate so that we can keep track of how many people could potentially enter. Tracks like VIR South only have 23 pit slots, so I have to know in case we might wind up with people getting left out in the cold (and in the case of that track, maybe switch to VIR North or Full to create more slots). So there’s no official sign up, but just make sure we’re aware.

And yeah, I don’t like the understeer. It definitely got worse on the NTM when it was first introduced on the SRF. I’ve gotten used to it, though.

do you guys have tried simraceway ? its another sim, presumably very good as well and its a LOT cheaper.. how can you compare it to iracing ??

The Skip is fantastic now since the new-new tyre model. I’ve really been enjoying that at Okayama this week. Also the NTM Star Mazda (renault 3.5 equiv) is great fun at Silverstone. Long 45min races though!

yes! the Star Mazdas are nice!

also have a go in the DP. it’s probably the most solid car out of all since the NTM came out

i let myself get carried away with this disccusion and i just bought 3 months! what car/track/series d you recommend ?????

  • Profile picture of George George said 1 year, 3 months ago:

Welcome to the club @joac21 , first order of business is getting out of rookies so you can start using other cars. Iracing is a serious sim, so the main aim is racing cleanly, best way to do this is get a few hours practice under your belt in the MX-5 at whatever track they’re at (lime rock I think this week), so you’ve got a handle on the car.

Once you feel you can do a race distance, qualify and go race in the mazda cup, you need to get your safety rating up to 3 to get promoted to D license (4SR for quick promotion), which unlocks more series to drive in.

Here’s a good thread with general info in it http://members.iracing.com/jforum/posts/list/1354827.page

The most important part being this: “As a rookie your goal is to get out of rookie.” :P

It might seem a bit of a hassle for now, but there is a big jump in skill and etiquette as you move up the license ladder, which I think makes it worth it :).

Seconding what George said. Don’t worry so much about other series just yet. Just get yourself up to speed with the rookie series (whether you do oval or road) and get a feel for how to race others cleanly.

Once you’ve graduated, then’s the time to start looking at other series :).

  • Profile picture of Joey-Poey Joey-Poey said 1 year, 3 months ago:

Jeez. You might be a force to be reckoned with. Took me a couple weeks before my first win!

it wasn’t a very strong field. im actually not very quick yet. im very close but haven’t managed to get to 59s on lime rock. my fastest is 1:00.035.

i used to play a lot LFS and Ferrari Virtual Academy, both pretty cool.

i added you as a friend
