Not doing anything on Wednesdays, might as well give it a go. Just hope I dont get one of the random draw prizes, no way I could actually cash it in :P.

    @Joac21 http://www.iracing.com/inracingnews/iracing-news/iracing-com-skip-barber-racing-school-premier-series-debuts

It’s similar to the main series but has only one race per week, I can never remember how the snake split system works though.

Okay, kind of on a high right now… I nabbed a podium in my split in the Skip Barber Premiere Series!

Nice one! I came 4th in mine, but I think I achieved the maximum I could. http://members.iracing.com/membersite/member/EventResult.do?&subsessionid=5155300&custid=49036
I didn’t much enjoy avoiding backmarkers who seemed to save their crashes for when I caught them up though, amazed I managed to come through with 0 incs.

I managed to choke on the last lap of my skippy race, lost 12 points but it was worth it for this battle! I’d followed this guy at less than a second behind for the whole race, overtook him on lap 16 I believe, then messed up into Moss like a numpty.

My first youtube attempt so apologies for the quality, encoding melts my brain.

That was INTENSE man! Sucks to lose out on the win, but damn what a great battle.

ALSO, if you guys didn’t get to see it tonight, definitely watch the recording of the CESCS broadcast on glacier. I had an awesome battle for about half the race. I won’t spoil the result, but it’s worth checking out.

Just watched your race Joey, that’s some brilliant consistency. I had the same situation in my club race earlier this week, but I fluffed it after 16 laps (with two to go -_-). The MX5 and Mustang seem like very good multiclass, similar speeds in the corners so you dont get so much divebombing, but the Mustang is fast enough on the straights to get by safely.

Thanks! My consistency seems to be about my best tool since I’m still not very fast X). I’ve even managed my 2nd podium in a row in the Skip Premiere series tonight! Had to fight like hell for it at the end, though. Reeled in 3rd from 8 seconds back over 20 laps and passed him with 2 laps left.

Nice job! I had it in my head that the premiere series followed the official schedule unfortunately, was a bit of a shock to get home yesterday and see the wrong track up there :P. I’m a bit miffed to be at RA short again too, I much prefer the long version (even though T5 kills me quite often).

Anywho, I’ll get this race out of the way quick so I can concentrate on Brands for Sunday, another of my bogey tracks!

Yeah it’s been a crazy busy week for me race-wise. Skip Premiere, Now I’m gonna try to do regular skip, then CESCS race this weekend and finally our SRF race on Sunday. I swear I don’t usually overload myself like this D:

i was finding IMPOSSIBLE to drive the skip barber car and after struggling for an hour and a thousand spins decided to head to the forums and read about the car…

in wich i found a PRECIOUS piece of information.. FOV.. have you guys adjust it ?
you enter the size of your screen and your viewing distance and it adjusts automatically.. i only have one monitor and FOV calculation was 45, wich is very little compared to default.. but it made a huge difference!! you cant see as much as you like but the feel of the car and speed its much much better! you cant turn in with much more confidence.. cant figure out how to display rpms and speed wich you cant see with the limited FOV…. dou you know how to achieve this ?

  • Profile picture of George George said 1 year, 1 month ago:

I’m still using the default FoV, and I cant see the dials either (they’re stuck behind the wheel <_<), I guess the only way would be to move the camera up/down, but I just go by sound/hud readings.

Everyone struggles with the skip first time they drive it, there's an awful lot of advice on the subject on the forum, but the main thing is to be smooth with controls and brake early. Once you get used to the car you can really throw it around.

highly recommend you change it according to calculation…
