    Race Update 2
    1. Graham (Red Bull)
    2. Sunderland (Caterham)
    3. Bomeny (Ferrari)
    4. Kingshark (Red Bull)
    5. Widger (McLaren)
    6. Ingram (McLaren)
    7. Varga (Sauber)
    8. Armos (Force India)
    9. Morley (Williams)
    10. Robson (Mercedes)
    11. Butler (Mercedes)
    12. d’Hazorme (Caterham)
    13. Cucamest (Toro Rosso)
    14. Haddleton (Force India)
    15. Nykänen (Williams)
    16. Needham (Toro Rosso)
    17. Kirkham (HRT)
    18. Peacock (Marussia)
    19. Hofman (HRT)
    Ret. Franklin (Lotus)
    Ret. Downton (Lotus)
    Ret. Frog (Marussia)

Lap 15 – Downton’s flying out there, he’s now all over the back of his teammate. Is he within a second? Not this lap.

Lap 17 – Downton’s within a second now, jinks out to right of his teammate and is nearly up with him. Oh, he’s cut back to the left, and was that, did something fly off? Has he caught his teammate? He’s suddenly backed off. Positions remain held.

Lap 18 – Downton Pits! This is incredible, it looks like he hit his teammate and has broken his front wing. His Championship challenge is falling apart here…

Lap 19 – …and so is Franklin’s tyre! It’s de laminating, and down to the canvas, he still has half a lap left! This has been a disastrous few laps for Lotus.

Lap 20 – Downton now has to make his way back through the back-markers, behind Frog now in 19th place. They take to the double fast right hander, but Frog’s slow speed has caught Downton out! He’s launched over the back of the Marussia! A horrendous incident! The safety car is called.

Lap 21 – Franklin is back in the pits! He’s retiring, clearly there is too much damage to his Lotus. That’s both cars out in 2 laps. What a disaster.

Lap 26 – The race re-starts and Bomeny is like a cat! Straight past Kingshark who must have been asleep!

    Race Update 3
    1. Graham (Red Bull)
    2. Sunderland (Caterham)
    3. Bomeny (Ferrari)
    4. Kingshark (Red Bull)
    5. Widger (McLaren)
    6. Varga (Sauber)
    7. Robson (Mercedes)
    8. d’Hazorme (Caterham)
    9. Ingram (McLaren)
    10. Armos (Force India)
    11. Morley (Williams)
    12. Butler (Mercedes)
    13. Cucamest (Toro Rosso)
    14. Haddleton (Force India)
    15. Needham (Toro Rosso)
    16. Peacock (Marussia)
    17. Kirkham (HRT)
    18. Hofman (HRT)
    Ret. Nykänen (Williams)

Lap 34 – Williams are clearing a space in the garage, and it’s Nykänen whose retired. No word yet what the problem is.

Lap 39 – Oh, Ingram has a problem in his pitstop! He was running in a position that would have give him the Championship lead as well! He’s finally away, but he’s fallen to 9th.

Lap 42 – Wow, Sunderland sets the fastest lap, he is visibly closing on Graham! This isn’t over yet!

    Come on Nicholas!!!!

Meanwhile, how did I get from 17th to 8th? Not bad for (this week’s) no. 2 driver ;)

    Race Results
    1. Graham (Red Bull)
    2. Bomeny (Ferrari)
    3. Sunderland (Caterham)
    4. Kingshark (Red Bull)
    5. Widger (McLaren)
    6. Varga (Sauber)
    7. d’Hazorme (Caterham)
    8. Ingram (McLaren)
    9. Armos (Force India)
    10. Robson (Mercedes)
    11. Morley (Williams)
    12. Haddleton (Force India)
    13. Cucamest (Toro Rosso)
    14. Needham (Toro Rosso)
    15. Peacock (Marussia)
    16. Hofman (HRT)
    17. Kirkham (HRT)
    Ret, Butler (Mercedes)

Lap 52 – Sunderland closes right up on Graham! He has DRS, he pulls to the right, and misses his braking point! Sunderland has gone straight on and has to rejoin the track. Unfortunately he’s now lost second place to Felipe Bomeny, still third thought!

Lap 59 – Apparently Robson has a slow puncture and requires a pitstop, that’s a shame, he was running 7th. He rejoins in 10th place.

Lap 62 – Some bad laps for Mercedes, Butler pulls over at the side of the track with smoke pouring from the back of the car, that’s an engine failure.

Lap 66 – Graham wins his second race in a row from Felipe Bomeny with polesitter Sunderland third. With Lotuses double retirement, this result has blown the Championship wide open.

    Noooo :(

Still, third place is not really that bad for a Caterham :)

  • Profile picture of CarnivorousPope CarnivorousPope said 4 months, 2 weeks ago:

:D continuing my charge. This is going to make for an exciting finish to the season

  • Profile picture of Kingshark Kingshark said 4 months, 2 weeks ago:

Mixed feelings about fourth. I outscored both Lotus’ and Ingram, thus closing on the championship lead, but I really feel that I could have certainly done better, given that my teammate won the race.

Now damage limitation in America, and then I can’t wait for Brazil, on my favorite circuit; Interlagos.

Well at least I am back ahead of @benh in the championship by 1 point, sad we wont catch Caterham now, they have been lucky with 2 good results! :(

With hindsight, I should have made the final three races my favorite tracks

Congrats @CarnivorousPope :) and well done to @Brazil2007, another Caterham podium!

Sad to see a double retirement for Lotus, but it could be anyone’s now, with two races to go…

Strangely enough I’m very unhappy with that result. Overall really good, though.
