Q1 Results – Bomeny warns his rivals not to forget him
Amidst the titanic battle for the Championship, Q1 started just like any other, with the lower cars clambering out to get times on the board, before the more established teams and drivers stole the top spots. There were no real shocks as to those who departed in the first session, being filled by the HRTs, Marussias, Toro Rossos and Sunderland’s Caterham.
Felipe Bomeny was the biggest surprise, as he topped the first session, with none of his rivals getting close. The Red Bulls were closest in 4th and 5th, with Ingram down in 7th, despite his promising FP2 pace, Franklin in 8th and Bradley Downton, our Championship leader, all the way down in 11th. The team remains optimistic, but surely they must be worried about their drivers falling at the second hurdle…

    Q2 Results – Downton’s hopes take a down-turn
Felipe Bomeny continued to set the pace in the second session, showing that the Ferrari clearly has front-running pace this weekend. Tom Robson went one better and claimed second, not far from the Ferrari as he looks for the Silver Arrow’s first victory this season. Ingram fared a little better in third, but he was followed closely by Hollis Graham.
Johnny Kingshark, the nearest to the Lotuses fell down the order to 8th, one place behind Jamie Franklin, who despite his poor performances in both practice sessions, has grit his teeth and pulled the Lotus along.
However, the biggest shock came from Bradley Downton’s Lotus, which not only failed to make it into Q3, but was all the way down in 16th place, just ahead of d’Hazorme’s Caterham.
“I’m so disappointed,” Said Downton after getting out of the car. “I was heading into this weekend really confident that I, and the car, could perform. This is far from what I imagined this weekend would go. I know it’s not over yet, but I’ll need a lot of luck to come out on top in the race,”

Q3 Results – Hofman steals the limelight
With all eyes on the Championship contenders, especially early pace-setter, Felipe Bomeny, it was easy to overlook others. Hofman took this opportunity to steal what seemed a certain pole position from the Ferrari in the dying seconds of the session by two tenths of a second.
The other contenders, bar Downton, lined up together from 4th to 7th, with Ingram in front, and Franklin bringing up the rear. Graham and Kingshark sat in the middle in 5th and 6th respectively.
With Robson getting up in the mix, it’s sure to be an interesting race. If the race ended as it started, then Felipe Bomeny would take the title, despite being the furthest behind, but I think we’re sure to see some twists and turns along the way!

    1. Hofman (McLaren)
    2. Bomeny (Ferrari)
    3. Robson (Mercedes)
    4. Ingram (McLaren)
    5. Graham (Red Bull)
    6. Kingshark (Red Bull)
    7. Franklin (Lotus)
    8. Nykänen (Williams)
    9. Mathershaw (Ferrari)
    10. Chan (Sauber)

I wonder if I should have gone with a different title for Q3, maybe something along the lines of:

‘Hofman shows he has more to Hoffer’ ;)
