That’d be it. Gonna go and look for it on YouTube.

I can recall that Brazil incident very well, but the Spain incident is a bit vague – I could only remember Trulli spinning in turn 2, causing mayhem, which is why I mentioned it :P

Just watched the crashes on youtube, the Brazil incident was 100% Trulli’s fault in my opinion. I could only find one video on the Spain crash though and you can’t really see what happens, only the aftermath.

    Race Update 3
    1. Franklin (Lotus)
    2. Downton (Lotus)
    3. Graham (Red Bull)
    4. Ingram (McLaren)
    5. Kingshark (Red Bull)
    6. Mathershaw (Ferrari)
    7. Chan (Sauber)
    8. Bomeny (Ferrari)
    9. Robson (Mercedes)
    10. Butler (Mercedes)
    11. Varga (Sauber)
    12. Haddleton (Force India)
    13. Cucamest (Toro Rosso)
    14. Morley (Williams)
    15. Armos (Force India)
    16. Coolidge (Williams)
    17. Needham (Toro Rosso)
    18. Sunderland (Caterham)
    19. d’Hazorme (Caterham)
    20. Peacock (Marusia)
    21. Hofman (HRT)
    22. Kirkham (HRT)
    Ret. Widger (McLaren)

Lap 34 Chan is looking fantastic at the moment, as he exits a perfect move on Robson on the exit of turn 3, just carrying so more speed in there, and makes it stick into turn 4.
Lap 35 Oh and a lap later, Bomeny gets Robson at the same place the next lap…you’d think he’d have learned.
Lap 39 Alfie Widger was looking set to overtake Graham for a while then…but with a gearbox failure, he’s out of the race. That McLaren just isn’t very reliable…
Lap 45 Franklin and Downton side by side through turn 7, 8 and 9, but Franklin just edges ahead to take the lead of the race! Looks like his pace throughout the weekend was no lie.
Lap 49 Butler’s tyres seem to look in better condition than his team mate’s at the moment, as he takes the Sauber of Varga into turn 1. Seems to be the best spot for overtaking at the moment.
Lap 51 75% distance and both Chan and Peacock are still in the race. Could it be their first finish?

I was hoping to be in a better position by this time in the race considering my qualifying position, still looking for my first points of the season. Oh, well there is always a 25% of the race left.

Double retirement for me. I did set my reliability fairly low. Any objections to swapping dry pace for reliability, @juan-pablo-heidfeld-1?

10th is not bad! But hopefully I can make up a place or two before the race ends :P Talking about that Brazil crash between Trulli and Sutil, the press conference after it is pretty funny :)

  • Profile picture of Juan Pablo Heidfeld Juan Pablo Heidfeld said 4 months, 1 week ago:

    go on then @alfie

    Dry pace next time though!

    Race Result
    1. Franklin (Lotus)
    2. Downton (Lotus)
    3. Graham (Red Bull)
    4. Kingshark (Red Bull)
    5. Ingram (McLaren)
    6. Mathershaw (Ferrari)
    7. Chan (Sauber)
    8. Bomeny (Ferrari)
    9. Robson (Mercedes)
    10. Varga (Sauber)
    11. Butler (Mercedes)
    12. Morley (Williams)
    13. Cucamest (Toro Rosso)
    14. Armos (Force India)
    15. Coolidge (Williams)
    16. Needham (Toro Rosso)
    17. Sunderland (Caterham)
    18. d’Hazorme (Caterham)
    19. Peacock (Marussia)
    20. Hofman (HRT)
Ret. Haddleton (Force India) from 10th
    Ret. Kirkham (HRT)

Lap 53 Varga looks set to re-pass Butler now, in the closing stages, but Butler is fighting back. Haddleton has joined the tail-end though…and the two go wide into turn 4, allowing Haddleton into 10th!
Lap 59 Ingram has been on the radio, saying that there’s a problem with KERS. Moments later, Kingshark has been able to get through in the DRS zone.
Lap 62 Haddleton slows down, and pulls over just after turn 9. He’s on the team radio saying that he has a loss of power. Such a shame for him.
Lap 65 Morley out-tractions Cucamest out of the penultimate corners, getting side by side into the final corner, and just beats him to the line!
Lap 66 Franklin takes his third consecutive podium, and first win for Lotus! Downton follows closely home for second place, with Graham a little further behind to complete the podium. Definitely a very strong weekend for the Lotus team!

To qualify and finish 4th is not bad. After practice I didn’t expect to be strong here. Congrats to the Lotus boys for a 1-2.

Surprised at how quick the Sauber’s were! Happy to hold on for some points.

Edited. Sorry, I missed that :P

Wow… just realised how similar a start to the season I had as my car number counter-part, Grosjean.
    AUS – Retired
    MYS – Retired
    CHN – 6th!

    Uh-oh…

    KERS failure??

    Surely that’s a Red Bull thing :P
