    I’d say both were unjustified.

My reasoning for saying no to a restart, is this:

There will only be one attempt at each race with no restarts. In extreme cases where multiple people lose connection during qualifying, the session may be, as in the past, restarted.

I don’t think 2 people disconnecting counts as “multiple people”. I’m sorry for those who didn’t get to take part, but it’s the same for everyone.

Also, @commonmonsoon you shouldn’t have been penalised for our coming together. It was a misunderstanding with a sprinkling of lag, so I’d be happy for penalties for that kind of thing to be overturned.

@spud That’s fine, it’s the rules. Just makes the championship more difficult for me because of the lack of races :-/

@jamiefranklinf1 Damn, such a shame I got disconnected, was doing those times with Damon in practice :(

Though it’s very unorthodox, I’d be willing to split the difference between the points for first and second with @CommonMonsoon if that is the best way forward. I think we both have claims to the victory, and it could be the fairest way forward. That being said, I’m not sure if I should be allowed a say considering how much it effects my position :P

Problem is, @alfie, no matter how silly the penalties were, I’m only in a position to challenge them because I have a video camera. Not everyone has that luxury, so I don’t think it’s fair to overturn them in… well, any case whatsoever. Even the backmarker incidents should be left as they are, now I’ve thought about it properly. We’ve all been affected at some stage. And if you haven’t, chances are you will be! :-P

It’s not really fair, but who really cares? Let’s just have fun!

Edit: @JamieFranklinF1 That’s really awesome of you, but I’ll have to decline! I made plenty of mistakes today anyway. You won the race because you were quicker overall and stayed out of trouble. Well, you did a better job of staying out of trouble than I did!

@jamiefranklinf1 That’s the best idea you’ve had in a long time! Do that! ;)

@Commonmonsoon The first one appears to be Aus/UK Lag, From Shyguy’s perspective you probably hit his rear and spun him out. I know he was well down the order after lap 1.

The second one was simply a misunderstanding and probably didn’t deserve a penalty but not sure if it is worth overruling

I would have only restarted simply because I felt bad that @bradley13 hadn’t done a race yet. Which obviously is his own fault :P, so it wasn’t really reason enough! We have to keep consistent for issues in the future otherwise it’ll be ‘but remember when we restarted in Montreal…’

@commonmonsoon I was the one who ultimately sent Shyguy into that spin at the start – not you. And we BOTH got penalties?

  • Profile picture of Oli Peacock Oli Peacock said 4 months, 3 weeks ago:

@electrolite Why don’t we just make it a rule now? Just a suggestion :)

  • Profile picture of electrolite electrolite said 4 months, 3 weeks ago:

    @olliekart There’s nothing consistent about that…

We’ve had disconnections late in qualifying before, (Spa Season 2) and we’ve not restarted the session, so it seems to me that the rules have been applied consistently in this situation. It’s crap that it happen, but it’s consistent.

  • Profile picture of thespuditron thespuditron said 4 months, 3 weeks ago:

@olliekart Not really pushed about making a new rule while the season has started. Online racing, by it’s very nature, is bound to have disconnection at some point or other. The 11am start time shouldn’t really be pushed out any further, if at all possible. Other folks may have things to do, you know, in real life. I’m reluctant to go changing rules if the season has started, but maybe it’s a discussion we can have before next season. I agree with what Electrolite says. I’m wary of us having a “but we restarted for Ollie & Bradley in Montreal” type scenario. It is just a game, but I’m wary of it becoming silly with rule changes everytime something unforseen happens. It is the same for us all, and I think it’ll balance out over the entire season.

Hopefully I don’t sound too bossy. Tone doesn’t carry very well via a text based medium like this. I’m just trying to be fair to everyone.

Does anyone know the points situation now?

  • Profile picture of Oli Peacock Oli Peacock said 4 months, 3 weeks ago:

@electrolite I know theres nothing consistent about it but, im thinking that as theres only been 1 case this season (Me and Bradley) if we are happy for a rule to be introduced (because this season we are the only one’s effected) then for the rest of the season there can be consistentcy. Obviously there would be an issue with past seasons, but thats in the past (1 year ago?) So surely no one can hold grudge that long :P
    Your decsion tho obviously :P

EDIT: was posted before i saw @spud post
