Quali – 5th iirc, somehow I managed to get a decent lap in and got a front end of the grid grid spot. I was pretty pleased with my self as I’d had no practice at all.

Race – DNF – Race was no where near as good as quali. Third race and third time I came out of turn 1 last. I climbed back up the pack a bit when others had incidents and then fell back down in my own incidents.

Eventually I had to pit as my rears were like cheese, I came out right be hind damon and I unlapped myself as I was quicker at that point but then went straight and spun again and dropped back from him. A few laps later I disconnected again :(

I’m thinking someone else should try hosting for the next race or two. I’d hate to think the same people are getting disconnected because my connection is likely to work better with certain people. :( We’re getting more than ever before, but to honest I think that’s more to do with F1 2012 the game itself.

Might I add, after racing a little with @bradley13 in his series last year, I can say he’s a very fair and reliable driver who nearly always keeps out of mischief.

@electrolite I think the problem with disconnecting is more to do with the game. I’ve noticed that I disconnect more in regular online races with strangers in this game in comparison to F1 2011 where I never disconnected.

I’ll spare you what would likely become a novel about my race and how it unfolded before me (it was pretty eventful) and give you this instead:

    Notes:

    • Apologies to @Aus_Steve for effectively ruining his race when he was running at the front.

    • When I hit the debris at the 9:12 mark, it felt like I was hit from behind which sent me into the wall (but I later realised no-one was there). Was anyone else experiencing unusual things happening due to lag?

    • Well done to @Alfie. You were incredibly fast and I’m sure if there wasn’t any lag, we’d have had an even cleaner battle. @Olliekart was also fun to race against.

    • Lapped cars probably played some part in what happened, but it’s not usually a problem. This was Monaco, after all. We expected to have difficulties with incidents here like we do every season. And with 15 people all connecting via @Electrolite‘s router, there’s bound to be a considerable amount of lag. When combined with tight streets and no-where to pass, you haven’t really got a good mix. But that’s what makes this round unique!

    • Probably should have picked some French or Monegasque (there’s a distinctly Monegasque music scene, right?) music instead of everyone’s favourite Colombian, but then I realised she’s everyone’s favourite Colombian ever.

    • I changed the last song after realising it wasn’t very family friendly. To see the unedited version of the ending (after you’ve watched the full version, of course!), click here.

    • Yay, won a race!

Well, your perspective on the Ste Devote debacle, and Beau Rivage II was a lot different to mine! From my view, you did a Webber @ Valencia 2010 and rose up over the back, flying across me into the wall.

That unedited version was a right laugh.

Great video and victory @commonmonsoon. That overtake on the outside of the climb was class!

Looks like someone got a bit mad they were held up at 1:36…

Cool video and nice win. I would have put the Rage Against the Machine song in the original video, the alternate ending was so much better.

There is a chance I won’t be able to make Singapore, just warning now. Which I am pretty gutted about!

Awesome video Monsoon! Your editing skills have only improved over the years. Just need to get you a proper recording device now… ;)

I really, really want to race again now. I’m so depressed that I’ve missed all these races. :( I think the world is crying out for Mag vs Monsoon, Round III…

Looks like someone got a bit mad they were held up at 1:36…

Well, if I hadn’t already barred Olliekart from the series, I certainly would after seeing that. Also, Broosky’s rage-quit from the race is a bit unfortunate. Let’s hope nothing like that happens again.

I wondered why all of a sudden I was in the wall :/

Great driving and video @commonmonsoon ! To try and answer your question of what is going on at 9:18ish – I was aware of cars behind so was going to try and park up on the outside of the hairpin, but I got hit from behind going into the corner and so got wedged up against the tyre wall and had to reverse out, thus making a complete pigs ear of the whole situation. Apologies for that.

Not that I’ll ever go massively out of my way to “prepare” for a race, pretty much no practice, guessing the setup and staying up till 4am drinking whisky the night before is certainly not ideal preparation. Much more optimistic about Spa than I am Monaco anyway – though hopefully we won’t have another bus stop tango like we did last year!

guys can anyone reccommend any free video editing software which can:
    1. speed up a video by x1.5
    2. accept .wmv files
    3. be nothing too complicated please!

  • Profile picture of Common Monsoon Common Monsoon said 4 months, 1 week ago:

@slr But we must think of the children! The next generation of Collantine Cup drivers, of course. :-P

@supernicebob I wasn’t upset with anyone, I just thought it was a confusing few corners. First of all, I apparently get punted into the wall after driving through a sideways @David-A, then I see you and another car battling except your car keeps changing its location and… well, it wasn’t that confusing on reflection, but at the time I had no idea what to do. It’s no one’s fault and no one affected me, but the lag was making for a pretty chaotic scene!

@sato113 Have you tried Windows Movie Maker? It accepts .wmv files and I’m pretty sure it has an option to speed up clips.

Edit: Yep, apparently I have it on my computer. It depends on your operating system but with XP I think you could only speed clips up by 2/4/6/8x, however I just tried with the 7 version (Windows Live Movie Maker) and if you type 1.5 into the “Speed” field under the “Edit” tab, it works. This program is probably the easiest one to use and does all the basics you could want.

@sato113 I use Windows Movie Maker too. As Damon says, it’s very easy to figure out how to use it if you’re a n00b at video editing.
