My fears came true, with 4 laps to go as well!
Qualified: 3rd
I got held up by @sato113 who instead of pulling over on the straight, waited until the middle of sector 2 (unless he was on a hotlap, then gave up?) I think this may have hindered a Mercedes behind me also. I finished the lap nonetheless, but improved to 3rd with a last gasp effort at the end.
Race – Disconnect
@commonmonsoon appeared to get off to a horrid start in front of me, and (from my view) appeared to be behind at La Source. I attempted the overtake as slowly and as on the inside as I possibly could. I couldn’t what was going on to the left of me, but I hope there was no lag which meant I crashed into him or something…Anyway, I lost traction out of the exit and everyone who got a cleaner exit got past.
This was set to be ANOTHER recovery drive…But there was no way I was getting past the 4th-9th crowd as they were lagging all over the place (particularly @BROOKSY007). I couldn’t tell where anyone was. So I thought I’d pit early (lap 5) and go onto primes at the end.
I was running in 5th and closing on @sato113 wondering when I’d push and make a move – I was playing the patient game as I didn’t know what my tyres were going to do. I was confident towards the end I could have taken him for 4th – and I did! Little did I know the reason he slowed was because everyone disconnected 5 seconds later…Of course it was actually me who disconnected.
Hope my battle with @Alfie was clean too…from my view it was. Gutted!
