Well, I was in a race with me, David and bob, I guess there was another race where Spud was 4th, and Electro and Teo went altogether.

    Countback seems the best idea.

This is all terribly confusing. We should go with the lap 18 results, in the interests of fairness. I think I was 9th at that stage. I have no photo to prove it though. :/

    Qualifying – 2nd
I was expecting to be mid-pack, so I was quite surprised when I got provisional pole, and have everyone post times slower…until @CommonMonsoon posted his, and went 9 tenths quicker.
Had a last gasp effort towards the end of quali, but still finished 0.713 behind Damon, and a second in front of @Electrolite

    Race – 2nd
Probably the most uneventful, boring race I’ve ever participated in.
I got a good start off the line, but was hit by @CommonMonsoon into the first corner, which broke my front wing. This put me down to 4th as we headed up to Eau Rouge. @Sato-113 was a little slow through there, and I almost hit him, despite that, I got a good run on him on the Kemmel straight, and braked early into turn 7, knowing that with the heavy fuel, some would probably miss the apex. The Ferrari did happen to do that, and as he went wide, pushed me off the track. I tried to slow down, but there wasn’t much I could do, and I pushed him into a half-spin. So I’m sorry about that.
The other Ferrari popped out of nowhere, as did Supernicebob’s McLaren, the latter of which was able to pass, whilst @Alfie was a little wide coming out of Le Combes. Supernicebob then went wide through Bruxells, allowing me into third, and try to catch Damon and Slr.
I was about 9 tenths away from Slr at the start of lap 2, though I seemed to be a lot quicker on the Kemmel straight, and pulled a pass into turn 7. He stayed with me for the rest of the lap, and I was beginning to fear the DRS, but nothing came of it, and I had to push on to catch Damon.
Nothing happened after that. Damon slowly pulled away, especially in the pits, when I had to change my front wing, which awarded him an extra 5 seconds on me.
I think our pace was a lot closer on the prime tyre, but there was no way I was going to catch him, without him making a mistake, so I really just tried to go as quickly as possible and hope for that.

Bit of a disaster with the mass disconnect, but I don’t really have enough knowledge about the matter to voice anything worthy.

Congrats again to @CommonMonsoon it’ll definitely be very hard to overhaul your points lead now. My video of the ‘highlights’ of the race will be up later.

EDIT: After reading the comments, I think a countback would be best. Can’t really go by two results :P

How many people started the race?

How many disconnected on Lap 18?

How many laps were due to be run?

  • Profile picture of JamieFranklinF1 JamieFranklinF1 said 3 months, 3 weeks ago:

12 started the race, I think 6 disconnected on lap 18, and there were 22 laps due to be run.

  • Profile picture of Slr Slr said 3 months, 3 weeks ago:

I think five disconnected. Bradley disconnected as soon as the race began, Brooksy was disqualified early on, and Shyguy also disconnected early on. With four remaining after the disconnection, that makes five people who disconnected from my view.

@magnificent-geoffrey if you look at the comments here it looks like people agree the lap 18 results should stand. the top 3 position never changed after this anyway.
anyway that’s just my bias i guess

  • Profile picture of JamieFranklinF1 JamieFranklinF1 said 3 months, 3 weeks ago:

Ahh yes, I’d forgotten about Brooksy’s DSQ.

Seems like we “disconnected” into at least two groups though. I completed the race in “3rd” behind Alfie and David. I think the only sensible thing to do is to go with the standings before that all went down. I believe I was 8th, behind David and ahead of Spud.

5 disconnections on lap 18, to leave 4 runners. And I’m fully aware that I’d lose 4th place if the countback is done, but that’s fine by me. 4th place felt a bit hollow, to be quite honest, when I knew I hadn’t earned it.

@JamieFranklinF1 Really sorry about the turn 1 altercation. I turned in not knowing Electrolite was up the inside and kind of bounced off him and into you. If it’s any consolation, I got a 10 second penalty for my efforts!

And for what it’s worth, I’d be cool with a countback. It’s a bit of an unprecedented situation and I hope it never happens again! The results at the end were shown like this:

Is that where everyone was (apart from Spud) when the disconnect occurred?

@Magnificent-Geoffrey We were on lap 18 of 22. 12 drivers, apparently 6 or 7 disconnected at once.

    Official CCRAP Ruling

Lap 18/22 marks 80% of the race. If such a significant number of people disconnected all at the same time, rather than falling out separately, that seems like a pretty catastrophic situation to me and one that I think should be treated as Red Flag worthy.

Therefore, I believe the best course of action would be to treat the disconnect as a race ending incident and as more than 75% of the race distance was completed, the results should be taken from the end of Lap 17 / start of Lap 18 with full points awarded.

If we can just get confirmation of the positions at the end of Lap 17 / start of Lap 18 (if that’s too difficult, the positions at the exact time the leader crossed the line to begin Lap 18), that will be the final race standings.

Looks good to me. I was in ninth at the time of the disconnects, so I’m happy to do a countback.

  • Profile picture of Slr Slr said 3 months, 3 weeks ago:

That ruling is fine with me.

    What sato said:

    1st: @commonmonsoon
    2nd: @Jamiefranklinf1
    3rd: @slr
    4th: @sato113
    5th: @electrolite
    6th: @alfie
    7th: @David-a
    8th: @spud
    9th: @supernicebob

I believe that’s what the order was.
