@electrolite I overtook Spud for 8th on what was lap 15 for me, so I think lap 16 for Damon at least, and held that position until the disconnect.

  • Profile picture of thespuditron thespuditron said 3 months, 4 weeks ago:

Again, I have no photo evidence, but I think I was 9th, behind @supernicebob , when the disconnect happened.

    1st: @commonmonsoon
    2nd: @Jamiefranklinf1
    3rd: @slr
    4th: @sato113
    5th: @electrolite
    6th: @alfie
    7th: @David-a
    8th: @supernicebob
    9th: @spud

I’d be happy to stay with that. If anyone can prove I got 8th, I;d be more than pleased. ;-)

Sorry @spud, here’s my view at the time of disconnect

Alright. I’ll do the results. No gaps/times, however! This makes it easy…

Edit: Actually, can everyone who recorded please post a a screengrab of the moment they crossed the line to begin lap 18? That will show the gaps to the drivers ahead and behind. I think we might have enough for that. At least then we count the beginning of lap 18 as the finish of the race, which effectively makes it a 17 lap race!

@supernicebob That’s totally cool man. I thought as much myself.

  • Profile picture of sato113 sato113 said 3 months, 4 weeks ago:

@commonmonsoon you can see from my screenshot the gap between 3rd, 4th and 5th as i cross the line.

  • Profile picture of Slr Slr said 3 months, 4 weeks ago:

Can’t be bothered with a screengrab, at the end of lap 17 I was +19.777 behind Jamie and Sato was +13.375 behind me.

EDIT: Sato’s picture shows a slight difference in the gap between us at the beginning of lap 18, so you go can go by which ever gap you want.

  • Profile picture of Common Monsoon Common Monsoon said 3 months, 4 weeks ago:

@sato113 Thanks for that. :-) We’d need a screenshot from either @alfie or @David-A as they begun lap 18. Otherwise, @Electrolite‘s perspective would show us the gap to Alfie at the very least. If there’s nothing, we’ll just post what we know. Which is not a lot! :-D

@slr I have the gap to you already, don’t worry.

Alfie was about 12 seconds behindI think? That’s just from memory…

  • Profile picture of JamieFranklinF1 JamieFranklinF1 said 3 months, 4 weeks ago:

I believe I was 9.999 seconds behind @CommonMonsoon at the beginning of lap 18 ;)

Ack…I really ought to get my act together! Threw away another shot at a decent finish and wasted my pace on recovering. Still running in 3rd though! 3, 4, 5, 4, 5 are my finishes so far.

@commonmonsoon Mercedes would appear to be slightly ahead in the Constructor’s running order.

    Qualified 8th, finished 8th

Bit of a disappointing one for me really, but an improvement on Monaco (though not turning up would have been an improvement on Monaco) so can’t complain too much. Made a decent start and managed to mostly keep out of trouble to briefly be in 3rd before the car got away from me at Bruxelles. I guess the nature of the circuit means we carry more fuel than normal at the start. The handling for the first few laps seemed noticeably worse than it usually is for me.

I was then involved in that “GP2″ scrap for a few laps which was good fun. Things eventually settled down and I was running a pretty solid 6th before my wheel packed in. Took me ages to sort out as I couldn’t really figure out what had happened (the pedals still worked which seemed a bit weird) so I lost a whole bunch of time. After that it was just a matter of whether or not I could catch Spud before the end, which I could.

    Race review

    Qualified: 4th, Finished: 3rd

I had a decent start to the race and after the first corner, I was 2nd. However a lap later Jamie passed me on the Kemmel Straight, I didn’t want to fight him as he is usually much quicker than I am. However I was very surprised to find myself staying with Jamie for a lap before I made a mistake at Pouhon.

After that I was all alone for almost the rest of the race, being far ahead enough of 4th place for them to not be a threat, but not close enough to 2nd to challenge for their position. After I pitted Sato who hadn’t pitted was right behind me and was looking for an opportunity to pass me, however I never was able to before he pitted.

Once again I was all alone, and was set for 3rd. When the mass disconnection happened on lap 18, I was guaranteed 3rd. I cross the finish line in 3rd and score my first podium of the season, which I was very happy with.

Here is my video, I felt like putting in music for the first time. It kind of feels weird listening to it along with the race highlights, but then again, it was also weird listening to “Kiss Kiss” on one of Common Monsoon’s videos. Also the reason the picture appears to “sink” is because I was recording from my iPod, and because it can’t stand up by itself, I hold it in place with blue-tack. As the race went on, the iPod was slowly falling backwards causing the picture to “sink”.
