I’ll slam down a quick report whilst I’ve got some time!
@Commonmonsoon gave me a quick setup about an hour before the green light, so I basically owe the race to him. I had a bit of trouble getting into the game (I was watching Youtube videos, forgot, the session expired early) so thanks for waiting! Once qualifying started my wheel decided to disconnect itself from the playstation. After a brief panic-filled unplug and replug session (involving me interrupting one of Damon’s laps to ask him how to get a wheel activated on facebook chat) I got the wheel back in and activated. I went out for my first lap and noticed that my wheel settings had gone to god when I unplugged it. After a busy (very rotation heavy!) installation lap I headed back to el pitlano and guessed that my wheel saturation settings were somewhere around the 60% mark.
I then proceeded to fluff up 2 of my banker laps, which left me in 11th. My final shot (started the lap with 20 seconds remaining) was a surprisingly quick one, considering I just wanted to put a cautious lap down to move me up the field. Anyway, I was purple on damonski in the middle sector before I decided to pootle around the final chicane like a grandma. It was enough to grab me pol- oh, no wait. Same time as Damon. Exactly.
So after that freak occurrence the race got off to a surprisingly tame start. I made it through T1 for the first time this season and stuck with damon for a couple of laps. I moved my fuel down to 1 and dropped back for a bit, not wanting to risk lag-punting the leader into the gravel when going for a pass. Shyguy popped up out of nowhere and started badgering me the whole way around the track. We came close to touching at one point into the chicane, but otherwise it was a fun, clean battle (much like in season 1!). Anyway, damon and shyguy simultaneously discoed and I was left leading by a fair margin.
Yadda, yadda. I drove for a bit and nearly crashed twice. Fun little battle with Electrolite when I came out of the pits (I didn’t know you were there until halfway through the esses!). I pushed the gap out to around 30 seconds and just cruised.
Supernicebob slammed down a flap with 3 to go and probably would’ve held it! For some reason I decided to be a dick and turned the engine up to max for the final lap. I’m sorry :( Purple is my favorite colour.
So yeah, was pretty fun! Really sucks about the disconnections! I’m sure the championship would’ve gone right down to the wire. Well done to JF! Look after my crown m’kay?
And thanks to all you folk for letting me drive! I was quite (discourteously) inactive on the forums and I was too lazy to walk halfway across the room and plug my keyboard into the PS3. See you all at Brazil!
Also GT5 Shuffle races are the absolute bomb-dig, count me in.
EDIT: A race this weekend would be perfect! I’m supposed to be racing IRL the week after and while I’m sure my team will understand if I prioritise and run the more prestigious championship, they know where I live. They also know my blood-type and I don’t really want to be kidnapped and put up for auction during the week.
